Vintage Bathing Beauty

 DSCF1067

I am squeaking in another card today, one with very little stamping, but a fun image using some Graphic45 paper I had.  First, it uses the TechnoStamper sketch 223 for this week:

and is also for the Sugar Creek Hollow’s challenge 13, which is fashion, and (this is stretching it a bit) lastly, for City Crafter’s challenge 111, which is travel, and you need a ticket!! So here we go:

DSCF1068

This card is larger than usual, about 6 1/2 by 4 1/4, to accomodate my bathing beauty!  I cut some mini posters from the paper, which is where I got the “transportion” – see the Union Castle Line????  I also cut two banners from vellum cardstock on which to stamp my sentiment, then layered them to get the double ends, plus it helps give a little more opacity to the vellum but still allowing the background to show through a bit.

And my ticket is from my great-aunt’s estate….she never threw anything away, and she did a lot of traveling, so I saved some of the goodies I found while helping my dad clean out her house:

Mojo Monday 243

DSCF1059

I have not played with the Mojo Monday sketches for a long time, so I thought I’d give this square card a try:

DSCF1058

I realized after photographing the card that I should have used a different blue for my vertical panel, but hopefully the recipient won’t mind the disparity in the shades!  I used a retired set called Watercolor Trio, inked with markers and stamped on watercolor paper.  I went over the images with a damp aquapainter just to blend them a little better:

I also stamped the French script from French Foliage on the background of both my image pieces.  The floral DP is from Comfort Cafe, and the Summer Starfruit DP is from Patio Party, both available June 1.  Remember, today is the last day to order from the current Stampin’Up! catalog, so if there’s a set you’re hankering, get it now!  On the inside, I added a Bible verse and another floral:

Yesterday, we realized we could supplement the quickly-drying “pubbles” in our driveway with a watering can!  It took a few tries for her to figure out just how to turn it upside down for the best effect:

Shhhh! It’s a FMS Surprise!

 DSCF0861
Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Today is a VERY SPECIAL day, because we are honoring a sweet mom-to-be, Rita Wright!   Lesley and some of her crafty friends over at Freshly Made Sketches are giving Rita her very own BLOG HOP!! Woohoo!  If you came from Kathy’s blog, you may already know all about it; you can find all the details at the FMS blog and start from the beginning if you like!  And Rita didn’t even know it, but she supplied the sketch for her own blog hop!  Here it is:

Knowing that Rita and her DH are having a little girl, but that she is not that fond of pink, I chose to use a new set called Betsy’s Blossoms and some retired Sweet Shop paper:
FMS37-LeAnne
I also used the new Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and die, as well as the retired PS: I Love You.

And featured some more of both sets on the inside:

Do you want to honor our special friend Rita?  Play along with us at Freshly Made Sketches with your baby or congrats card!  Rita will be thrilled!  Now, if you want to continue on the hop, Lesley is next on the stop!  And here is a complete list of all the designers today – you won’t want to miss any of them!

CQC139 Meets RS13 Meets OCCC

 DSCF0973

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Back to the work week!  Arielle really challenged me today with this color/inspiration:

cqc139

This looks exactly like a shirt my DD would wear; it’s her colors and style, but not really mine.  I wracked my brain trying to come up with a floral image in my collection that would work with this.  Alas, my vintage heart won over, and even though the girls at Retro Sketches really go for clean, modern lines, the little rebel in me chose their sketch:

to highlight my shabby collage-style creation:

And since it’s shabby, it also qualifies for this week’s Our Creative Corner challenge as well!  Woohoo!  I used a Crumb Cake base here, and my tag from Two Tags was cut from a page of Authentique’s Genuine Collection.  I added some stamped florals in Bashful Blue on the tag, a sentiment in Night of Navy, and some vintage images on the card in Crumb Cake.  All stamps are from Pink Paislee’s Spring Jubilee.

I dyed some seam binding in Rich Razzleberry for my shabby bow, corralled by an Antique Brad, and added a couple of little hearts:

This is going to a special friend as a sweet little thank you for something nice she did for me!  Now I hope that you can find some inspiration from this modern image and colors, and share your creation over at the ColourQ blog.  Your latest submissions have been fantastic, I’m telling you….it is getting harder to pick a winner each week!  While you’re there, be sure to check out what all the other fabulous designers have stamped!!

If you remember on Mother’s Day, Cassidy wanted a pickle, but after tasting it, gave it back to me!  She tried again, though:

Merry Monday 22

  DSCF0719

Happy Monday, Happy Memorial Day to all of you here in the states!  John and I marched in our Memorial Day parade in our little town on Saturday and it was a wonderful experience….very moving as we listened to the 21-gun salute and thought about the sacrifices so many have made for our freedom!  I hope you are having  a great holiday as well!  But now it’s time for another Merry Monday sketch!  Here’s Lesley’s sketch for this week; I hope you’ll be able to play along and get some more Christmas cards for your stash!

I chose a vintage theme again today with a Santa silhouette image and some pretty, softly-colored Melissa Frances papers with images reminiscent of holidays from the 1950s!!

Merry Monday 22 - LeAnne

I chose to cut my vertical panel with SU’s Adorning Accents Edgelits…I think it makes an interesting accent with the green paper peeking out from behind!  Santa is stamped in Cherry Cobbler and the sentiment is stamped right on the DP with Always Artichoke. I also stamped the background of the circle with the Linen background stamp to continue with the fabric theme of the houndstooth check paper.  Some pearls and ribbon were added for a finish!  As always, if you have questions, feel free to shoot me an email!

Now be sure to scurry over to Lesley’s blog, Always Playing with Paper, to see what the other designers have made with this cute sketch, and to share what YOU create!!!  Thanks for visiting today, and be sure to come back tomorrow for the ColourQ challenge!

It was SO hot this weekend, my DD got out the sprinkler!  I wonder how much water she was able to get in her little watering can?!

Paper Players 97

 DSCF0955-001

Happy Sunday to everyone!  I hope you are enjoying your weekend!  It is HOT here in PA!  I am the hostess at the Paper Players, and today, our challenge is a sketch:

I mixed it up with my card, using a retiring hostess set, Happiest Birthday Wishes, an already-retired set, Sweet Little Sentiments, and an upcoming set, Bright Blossoms:

PP97-LeAnne

I’ve been hoarding this floral Domestic Goddess DP (why do we do that?) so I thought I would bring it out since it has my new favorite retiring In Color, Poppy Parade in it!   I’ve matched it up with some  hostess DP from last year to make a bold, fresh, birthday card for a friend!  I popped up the little Pool Party blossoms and sweetened them with some pearls:

DSCF0957

and then used one of the new banner dies to cut out my sentiment:

DSCF0961

I just love that you can use those banners with lots of different sentiments!  Oops, I forgot…that little flower is from Itty Bitty Bits…..it’s just so sweet!  I curved my little banner a bit to give it some interest as well!  Hope you’ll play along with us and have some fun!  Be sure to check out what my teammates at the Paper Players have come up with, too!

Kids invent their own games; why do we buy them toys?  Here, Cassidy plays with the cat food.  She found it fascinating to take it from the big tub and put it into the little cup:
