Halloween Silhouettes

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  We had rain and rain and more rain yesterday, and you would think that would wash all the pollen away, but I was really feeling the effects of all my allergies...yuck!  I didn't feel like doing too much, but I did get a couple more Halloween cards made for a couple of challenges!  The Double D Challenge was to use a silhouette (I LOVE silhouettes);

the Shopping Our Stash theme was Halloween, and the (PIN)spirational Challenge had a Halloween board too:

Isn't that a cute photo?  Anyway, I pulled out probably my all-time favorite Halloween image of these little silhouetted trick-or-treaters, put it in my Stamparatus and inked it up with Stazon ink, then stamped it on a piece of Halloween paper:

Aren't they so vintage-y cute?

I added a couple of sentiments and a few light Halloween postmarks, which unfortunately can'be seen, but they add a little vintage interest as well.

I added a Basic Black mat and mounted it all on a Crumb Cake base, then added this sentiment (another favorite!):

For my next card, I recently won some Bugaboo digital stamps; I haven't used anything digital for a long time, but I thought I would give one of their Halloween images a try; I printed this on another piece of printed paper, and didn't add one thing to it...totally clean and simple, LOL!  I really like that you can size the image, but I wish it had printed a little blacker!  The sentiment is a CTMH one:

And on the inside, a few more CTMH stamps and a Recollections "trick or treat" on Mango Melody:

That's it for today---thanks for popping in!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

You can't go to Disney without giving Micky a hug!

PP463 Trick or Treat

Hi stampers!  It's time for another Paper Players challenge, and Laurie has a color challenge for us today:

A lot of times when we have a color challenge, I like to try to think outside the box and create something unexpected with the colors.  My mind defaulted to "Halloween" when I saw these colors, but when I saw what my teammates created, which are beautifully out of the box, I went ahead and embraced the Halloween-iness of these colors and made this:

I used the fun FMS sketch:

and an adorable little witch from an older Recollections set:

I stamped her and her pumpkin in Stazon ink on thick white cardstock and colored them in with reinkers and an aquapainter.  She was then fussy-cut and mounted on some Smoky Slate gingham.  I cut some stars from glimmer paper and colored them with a Blend--another great way to stretch the uses of those wonderful markers!  Here's the inside:

I don't like scary Halloween images, but this little witch is as cute as can be...she makes me smile! Edited to add:  I am also going to submit this to the Krafty Chicks challenge, which is "Bewitched"!

Be sure to check out what the design team created over at the Paper Players blog....then share YOUR creation with us!!  Can't wait to see what you come up with!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB42 Spooky

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Laurel has a fun Halloween challenge for us today at Inspired By!  I very seldom do "gruesome" or scary Halloween cards, I gravitate towards cute and funny, but I did step out of my comfort zone a wee bit for today's:

So here's the prompt:

Yes, a skeleton would not be my normal go-to theme, but I did have this cute little one from a Recollections Halloween set, and I found some Halloween-themed DSP from several years ago with ravens on it instead of bats, so I layered it under this fun little poem that I stamped on vellum:

I put it inside a frame of Granny Apple Green, diecut with a wonky stitched die and popped it up with some of SU's foam strips; that gave it enough depth to read the words but still see the pattern below!  I stamped my skull in Whisper White and gave it a little shadowing with my SU blend, then added some twine and black glimmer stars:

And since I had the inside portion of the frame still sitting on my desk, I added a sentiment to it and layered it on the inside with another piece of the DSP:

I actually think my little skeleton is kinda cute!  I hope you'll play along with our challenge this week too!  Have fun with it!

I recently received this little box of Andes mints from one of my (very) crafty customers, Maryanne:

Of course, Cassidy ate the candy, but also wanted to make little boxes for Lee and Jackie!  We got the directions from Julie DiMatteo (you can see them HERE), and we picked out some cardstock and DSP and went to work!

Learning to use the Envelope Punch Board!

How does this turn into a box?????

Scoring intently:

And gluing the box together!

We didn't have time to decorate it, so we'll finish it tomorrow!  Thanks for popping in today--be blessed and enjoy your day!

Halloween Overload

Hi peeps!  Happy Tuesday!  I got a lot of stamping time in yesterday and bulked up my Halloween card supply!  I have so many Halloween stamps, I can never use them all but I put a dent in some of them!  My first card is for Fab Friday's color challenge and In(k)Spire Me's sketch challenge, since yesterday's was not really up to par---I totally forgot the sentiment!!:

So here we go:

I started with an older cat and jack stamp (I don't know the maker) and stamped it on a diecut circle of Pumpkin Pie and added some Poppy Parade shading.  It's backed with a Gorgeous Grape scallop and embellished with some purple bats (!!!!), and accented with some enamel dots.  I diecut the sentiment and adhered it, then ran it through the Big Shot with a retired Spiderweb embossing folder.  In hindsight, I should have made this card with thick white cardstock, I always forget how embossing folders make a card so wobbly!!

Bright colors, but fun!  My second one used the outer edge of the circle that I cut from the above card (Lil' Inker Stitched Circles have stitching on both edges!)  I know the photo makes it look much lighter, but it is the same cardstock!  I can't resist this cute little trick-or-treater in her pumpkin costume...I stamped her in Memento ink and used SU blends to color her in:

I used some retired Urban Underground DSP for the background and mounted it on a Pear Pizzazz card that was stamped with some stars!  I added a banner, a little star embellishment and some enamel dots.  Isn't she cute?

And since this week's City Crafter Challenge is Halloween, I am playing along with it!

And speaking of cute, can you believe at National Harbor, there is a PEEPS store?!  There are only two in the US...one there and another in Allentown, PA.  I wish I had gotten a picture of the store, there were peeps everywhere!  I love to look at peeps but I do NOT like them....not a fan of marshmallows too much!  And I usually don't buy Cassidy souvenirs when I go somewhere, but I had to get her a peeps shirt:

She actually took off her Minecraft shirt and wore this one to school!  Me?  I wanted the little peeps bag!  So cute!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

MTS095, AYSI 109 and TSTR262

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Got anything fun planned this weekend?  I am going to stay home and clean my stamp room…..it is a disaster area!  I squeezed in some stamping time late, late last night for these three challenges:

Match the Sketch:

As You See It:

and The Shabby Tea Room:

I saw a card made with this CTMH stamp recently and was lucky enough to snag one online, and it arrived in the mail yesterday, so I quickly inked it up!  I love these colors together; a recent issue of Better Homes & Gardens used these colors too, and even though I’ll never see a Lost Lagoon leaf in real life, I think they’re pretty here!

My little pumpkin is from Recollections, and the sentiment is from My Creative Time’s Mixed Holiday Sentiments.  I almost forgot that I had this pretty Lost Lagoon baker’s twine from SAB, so I added a piece to complement the stitched leaves from Lawn Fawn!

Such a fun subway art-style image!

We took a last trip to the local farm to pick up a few more pumpkins!

Paper Players 252

DSCF0711
Happy Sunday, peeps!  I trust you had a safe & fun holiday yesterday!  Ann is our hostess for this week’s Paper Players challenge, and she’s chose a theme of “The Great Outdoors”!  Wow, there are so many possibilities for this one!
My friend Martha gave me a little stamp set from Recollections featuring some beachy images, and it was sitting on my desk, so I thought that would be a fun way to interpret this challenge, since I love going to the beach!  I just received my latest Paper Pumpkin kit, too, so I used some elements from it to make my card!  The card itself is from the kit, and it has a strange shape, so it was a bit tricky to photograph:

It has a pointy end, so it doesn’t stand up straight!  It also comes with its own envelope and liner….very cool!  I punched out some of the banner stickers and adhered them to the side, along with a little wooden one….it’s next to the sand dollar.  I will caution you, that the wood is very thin and the point broke off, but I was able to adhere it back together.  Just a heads up!  I stamped my images in complementary colors and diecut them with a Lil Inkers Stitched Circle die, then added some speckles (Gorgeous Grunge), sequins and a sentiment from Fabulous Four stamped sideways along the edge:

Another birthday card for my stash….and I know just the person who’ll be receiving this one!  I hope you’ll play with our Great Outdoors challenge too!  Check out what the designers came up with….a great variety this week!
And speaking of the great outdoors, I don’t have any Cassidy pictures today, but I do have some nature pictures!  John was mowing on Friday and caught a glimpse of this little bird in the grass!  He picked it up and I was able to get some photos…I was quite intrigued by his markings; I had never seen a bird with a yellow band on the bottom of its tail like this one:

After some research, I found out it was a baby cedar waxwing!  What a wonderful surprise!  I had seen an adult last month, but I did not expect them to hang around and have a nest!  He was pretty content to sit in my hand, but when I put him down on the ground, he took cover in my salvia.  Hope he found his momma!
