Twofer Wreath Challenge #11

Hi peeps! I am running very late today...I have my last stamp club of 2018 tonight so I spent the morning getting ready, and this colder weather has my allergies acting up!!  Anyone else "suffering" the same way?  I think it's all those yucky wet leaves!  Anyway, I got a very little bit of stamping time in over the weekend and made a couple cards for the Twofer Card Challenge, in which I have never participated!  My friend Carol is a guest designer there, so I decided to give it a try!  They're extremely CAS because that's all the energy I had, LOL!  So here we go:

I used Fun Stampers Journey's Harvest Wreath for the wreath; the wreath on the Thanksgiving card was stamped with Soft Suede ink and embellished with some faceted gems from Amber Moon; sadly, the photo just doesn't capture how pretty they are here:

My diecut sentiment was from the same set, stamped in Cajun Craze and overstamped with a stamp from Timeless Textures; the together was from The Paper Studio:

I finished it off with a Braided Linen Twine bow:

My second card is a Christmas card; the wreath was stamped in Soft Sea Foam, and the sentiment was stamped in Balmy Blue:

I colored some pearls with a Pink Pirouette Blend and added a Powder Pink bow:

And since the Christmas Card Throwdown's challenge is to use pink, green and blue, I am entering this one in their challenge as well!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Cassidy snagged another sunrise photo from her kitchen deck this morning:

And here is a sunrise photo my brother took very early one morning over the fountains of Longwood Gardens:

God's glory!

PP398 Clean and Simple Bird

Happy Sunday, peeps!  It's Jaydee's turn to be the hostess today at the Paper Players, and she's chosen a Clean-and-Simple "Birds" challenge:

Jaydee and I both love birds, so I was excited about this challenge....I have lots of bird stamps, too, but today I only have one bird on my card, and it's a pink wren, to boot!  I just felt like making something pink, LOL!  I guess my color palette matches the challenge prompt a wee bit!

Anyway, I used the Fab Friday sketch:

and I did use a doily, as Mindy suggested, along with the Birds and Blooms die, Wood Textures DSP and a few other elements!  I stamped some pink speckles with the Timeless Textures stamp; I added a torn and sponged layer of Crumb Cake along with some Powder Pink ribbon and a little faceted embellishment, and I diecut my bird from Powder Pink cardstock and did a wee bit of sponging on her....cuz she is definitely a girly bird!

The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings...what a great set, beautiful sentiments and wonderful fonts!  I highly recommend it!  Be sure to check out what the other Paper Players designers came up with at the PP blog, too!  And share your creation with us...remember, it has to be clean and simple!

I haven't shared any Eden pictures lately; she is getting big and is quite a handful!  Wayne and Dana took her for her first ride in the Jeep with the top down!!

They made sure she was buckled up before they took off, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB24 In the Garden

Hello, peeps!  It's Thursday, and you know what that means....another Inspired By challenge!  Laurel comes up with the prettiest inspiration photos!  This week challenged me a bit more than normal!  I pulled out a really "vintage" stamp set from waaaay back when I first started to stamp to create my card today:

And here is Laurel's prompt:

So.....there are lilies of the valley, a snail, and a ladybug!!  I don't really have any of these images, but I did find a little ladybug in the "spring" lineup of Nature's Seasonal Borders, circa 1998, so that's what I chose!  I stamped it in Stazon ink on some watercolor paper and used inks and an aquapainter to color in all the images:

I filled in the backgrounds with Crumb Cake to go with my Crumb Cake card, and I found some Tim Holtz Christmas paper in a deep green that mimicked the background of the inspiration photo.  I diecut it and another scrap of watercolor paper with a scalloped stitched die for a little interest.  When I went to assemble it, I noticed it sort of matched the lilies of the valley--a happy coincidence!  Finally, I added some grunge stamping and a sentiment from Colorful Seasons, stamped in white craft ink and heat-embossed, as well as a little linen thread bow:

Laurel's design team has come up with some FUN and interesting creations using this image prompt...(you need to check out Michele's especially!!!), so I hope you'll stop by the Inspired By blog and share your own snail, ladybug, or whatever you're inspired by, with us!

No Cassidy pictures today, but since her last day of school is tomorrow, I thought I would take a quick trip to Longwood Gardens since we will be busy with her activities and Tuesday was such a gorgeous day!

A panoramic view of the conservatory and fountains:

Roses and topiaries:

Clematis:

And the Italian garden fountain:

It was a quick trip, mostly for exercise and fresh air, so I didn't get a lot of pictures!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB14 Cozy Cup

Happy Thursday, everyone!  Hope you're having a good week so far!  I've been out of my stamp room, busily painting and freshening up our downstairs bathroom; it's not done yet, but at least it's now usable!!  I did manage to pop into my room and make a card for Laurel's latest Inspired By challenge!  It uses a piece of Color Theory DSP, which has been greatly neglected; this one happens to in shades of blue:

And here's the prompt from Laurel:

This one threw me for a bit of a loop--so many possibilities!  In the end, I went with the blue and white and a cup of coffee, LOL!  This Coffee Cafe set is so fun, but I tend to want to stamp it in green and brown to match the Coffee Break DSP that complements it!  So I really had to stretch to stamp it in Dapper Denim and Marina Mist! I also embossed the Color Theory paper with the (retired) Modern Mosaic embossing folder and used a sanding block on it to give it some texture.  The "friend" stamp is from Apron of Love; the little sunburst border is from November 2017's Paper Pumpkin.  I also added the Corduroy Ribbon from the current mini catalog, some retired sequins and white baker's twine.  Oh, and I almost forgot, it's hard to see....the edge of the card is embossed with the Cable Knit embossing folder, to mimic that beautiful blanket in the photo!

And on the inside, I added another little strip of the DSP and some coffee rings from Timeless Textures:

I hope you'll come along and play with us at Inspired By!  You'll definitely be inspired by the DT's creations as well!

Cassidy and Dana bought me an orchid for Easter..it's so pretty!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CTS259 And Leftover Sneakers

Happy Friday, peeps!  YAY, it's the weekend!  For this month's stamp club, we used SU's new blends, using the sneaker image from Epic Celebrations. Each stamper did a pair of sneakers in her own set of colors, so I had a couple of images that I demonstrated,  plus I had been practicing quite a bit, so I had LOTS of sneaker images laying around!  I loved this Pool Party pair, so I used the CAS(E) the Sketch sketch #259 for it:

And here we go:

I trimmed down my white panel on which I had stamped the sneakers, fussy-cutting them out at the bottom.  I then masked them with a post-it note and stamped the top portion with an image from Timeless Textures in Smoky Slate. I added a Smoky Slate mat, extending it below the sneakers, and stamping it with another image from Timeless Textures.

I cut the "hb" from an old set of dies called Timeless Type Alphabet and stamped them with a third Timeless Textures image in Whisper White:

A fun and funky card...not sure if it is CAS enough for the challenge, but if it's not, that's okay!

So here is the card we made at club; you can see that we had lots and lots of little black stars left over as well, so I put a couple of them on my banner too!!!

I must say that everyone did very well with the Blends and I got lots of positive comments!

Grampy got Cassidy a special Valentine card and received a big hug in return!

Thanks for popping in!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RRCB68 A Better Friend

Happy Monday, peeps!  Hope you had a wonderful weekend!  I haven't played with the Retro Rubber Challenge for a long time, and the inspiration photo was just too good to pass up!

RRCB 68

I wanted to make a card with only SU products, as well as incorporate the white, green and red shades, so I opted for a tiny little bit of Lemon Lime Twist, stamped with a grid pattern from Timeless Textures (2016) as my background; a Real Red Adirondack chair on a piece of white Wood Textures DSP, and a little bluebird from Sitting Here (2016) for a little interest.  The sentiment, stamped in Crumb Cake, is from Beautiful Bouquet.  I did add a little burlap ribbon for a bit of a country feel!

I forgot to mention that this is a notecard-sized card!  And here's little closeup of my bluebird---stamped in Marina Mist and colored with a blender pen in Marina Mist and Calypso Coral inks:

And here are a few pictures of Longwood Gardens from my visit last week:

A beautiful day enjoying God's creation...with a little help from the Longwood gardeners!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

MTS186 Birdie Hello

Happy Monday, everyone.....I've gotten a very late start today, I can't seem to get out of vacation mode!  I wanted to play with the Match the Sketch sketch before it runs out!  Here's the sketch:

And I challenged myself to use some papers and colors with the (dreaded) Lemon Lime Twist! The Naturally Eclectic DSP fit the bill perfectly:

I used the retired Tags & Labels dies to make the Berry Burst tag and "hello" tag, which was stamped with a Paper Pumpkin sentiment, and the retired Adorning Accents Edgelit and Delicate Designs embossing folder to make my horizontal piece.  My little bird was diecut from the Birds & Blooms Thinlet and accented with some Blackberry Bliss twine.  The Lemon Lime piece was stamped with Timeless Textures, and the tag was stamped with Touches of Texture:

I also added a little LL sprig from Bouquet Bunch and a wee little glimmer dot!  So fun!

This is one of my favorite pictures from the kids' vacation---it really makes you realize how small we are and how big God is!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
