PP738 Beeutiful Wings

Happy Sunday, peeps! Joanne is our Paper Players hostess this week and she has a fun clean-and-simple challenge for us:

Oh, so many things could fit this bill, right?!  Just remember to keep things clean-and-simple!  So here we go:

I have lots of bee stamps, but this detailed one from Queen Bee is one of my favorites!  My color palette came from the Inspired By challenge this week:

I stamped the queen bee in Versafine ink and colored her in with an aquapainter and inks and fussy cut her out. I stamped her again on a gingham Everyday Arches diecut and mounted the fussy-cut one on top:

I added a sentiment from Darcy's Designs as well as some blue sequins, and mounted it on a panel that was embossed with the Hive embossing folder.  I am also entering this at the CAS on Sunday Challenge, where they are also looking for "Things for Wings"!  I know a blue bee is probably a wee bit unusual, but I just love that color combo!

I hope you'll play with our Clean-and-Simple "Things that Fly" challenge too! Be sure to share your creation with us at our Paper Players blog!  See you there! Thanks for popping in today; enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC566 Queen Bee Birthday

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Halfway through the week! I have a sweet little card using some sweet little papers, all for the Atlantic Hearts sketch this week!  First, here's the sketch:

So here we go:

The papers and circular element are all from Echo Park's Bee Happy pad....I just love the colors and prints!  (For anyone who wants to know, the narrower pieces are 3/4" wide, and the wider pieces are 1 1/8" wide!)  I isolated the edges of the pre-printed banner by fussy-cutting them out, then slipped it into a Stylish Shapes dies with the banner edges over TOP of the die and ran it through my Big Shot.  The leaves are cut from the same pad using the retired Pierced Blooms dies.  The So Saffron flowers were cut with a My Favorite Things Stitched Flowers die. That sweet little bee is from a retired SU set called Every Little Bit!

I used a Darcie's Heart & Home set for the inside:

Thanks for popping in today!

I am asking your indulgence here...my family's heritage is Scots-Irish and whenever I see a man in a kilt at any sort of heritage function, I am reminded of our trip to Scotland a few years back with my sister.  I jokingly asked my (only) little brother if he would ever wear a kilt.  He smirked a little and said "Maybe!"  Imagine my surprise when he knocked at my door the other day and was wearing this:

The Black Watch plaid is considered our Mackey family plaid, and I remember my dad having a plaid jacket like this, but he definitely did NOT have a kilt!  Anyway, Raymond's Masonic group is having a kilt night, so he will put it to good use!  And no, he's not holding a glass of scotch, but good old homemade Italian wine, made by hubby John!  I give a man credit for wearing a kilt and knee socks!  He looks pretty good, I think!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RRCB188 Anything Goes

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Time for a new Retro Rubber challenge, where we dust off those older stamps (at least a year old, tell us how old if you can!) and give them some love.  Our theme this week is "Anything Goes"!

I pulled out a really old Cornish Heritage Farm stamp from their June 2009 Stamp of the Month; I am not even sure of the name of the stamp itself!  But here we go:

I used the sketch from TSOT along with some "retro" papers as well:

I stamped the image with Stazon ink on some Naturals White cardstock, then lightly watercolored the edges, flowers and bees with reinkers.  I added a Baja Breeze "stitched" border and some gold ribbon and twine embellishment:

My papers are from Authentique's Meadow (yellow print) and My Mind's Eye Stella & Rose: Mabel (lower border).  The sentiment is from Darcie's Heart and Home, BEEutiful, which is from 2012.  I stamped it in Stazon as well and used punches to cut it out.  Finally, I added some yellow sequins and another Baja Breeze border to tie all the colors together!

I hope you'll come play with our "Anything Goes" challenge this week...remember to use stamps that are at least a year old and tell us their approximate age!  Share it with us at the Retro Rubber blog so everyone can see it!  Thanks for popping in today!

A few more cards:

This is from my sweet friend Colleen; I love the bird and the little embroidered flowers!

Sandy sent this pretty vellum-layered beauty:

And I must give my friend Karen kudos for her awesome coloring and fussy-cutting!  Wowza!

And this pretty array of florals is from my sweet friend Renita!

Thank you so much, ladies!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AHSC473 Happy B-Day

Happy Monday, peeps!  I am uber late today....just couldn't get my act together, LOL!  I have a quick little card for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge as well as the Festive Friday challenge and the Global Design Project!

I chose to make a square card, 4 1/4" and I used a plethora of bee stamps I've collected over the years:

I stamped the honeycomb image in Bumblebee ink and the bees in Memento, then added some black sequins from my stash:

An old Cornish Heritage Farm sentiment and heart was stamped on the outside:

And some Darcie's Designs images were stamped on the inside in Smoky Slate:

My layers were Very Vanilla, Basic Black, and some SAB DSP from a year ago!  Thanks for popping in today....enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP589 Bee Better Soon

Hi peeps!  Happy May Day! And happy Sunday, which means a new Paper Players challenge!  Jaydee is our hostess today and she has a theme that is near and dear to both of our hearts:

Oh dear, which should I choose?  I love both my birds and my bees, but the bees won out this week! I pulled out a couple of stamps I've had for a long while to make my "bee better soon" card:

Since I used the FMS sketch:

I began looking for some appropriate papers; once I found them, I diecut them with a Reverse Confetti stitched strip die.  I also stamped a grungy honeycomb background from MFT along the right side in Sahara Sand:

I stamped a couple of bumblebees and a sentiment from two sets by Darcie's Heart & Home, coloring and fussy-cutting the bees, and stamping the sentiment on a tag and embellishing it with some Bumblebee ribbon:

This will be going to a gentleman at church who fell and is recuperating at a rehab center!

So, which will you choose?  Birds, bees or both?!  I hope you'll check out what the DT created at the Paper Players blog, then share your creations with us as well!  Can't wait to see them!  Thanks for visiting today!

I don't have any current bee photographs, but this one is from a couple of summers ago....I am looking forward to warmer temps and pretty sunflowers embellished by bees!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Another Bee Card for FMS479

Happy Monday, peeps!  Hope your weekend was fabulous!  As promised, I have another bee card!  This time, I am squeaking in the FMS sketch as well as the Rainbow Card Challenge of Delightfully Daffodil:

I still had my Bee's Knees papers out on my desk, so I pulled out a yellow honeycomb print and went to work:

I used the bee image from SU's retired Honey Bee set, cutting it with the matching die, and adding a sentiment from Darcie's BEEutiful set, stamped on top of the retired Dot, Dot, Dot background:

The bee was colored with a So Saffron Blend, and on the inside, I added a few more stamped images and another sentiment from Honey Bee!

I love how cheerful Daffodil Delight is!  Thanks for popping in today!

How can you not love a face (and a shirt) like this?  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB75 Patina and Honey

Hi folks!  Ah Thursday...almost the end of the week, and time for another Inspired By challenge!  Here is my creation for today's challenge:

And here is Laurel's prompt:

Oooh, this really pulls on my vintage-loving heart-strings!  I pulled out a wreath image from a Darcie's Heart and Home set that looked like the container behind the faucets and stamped it in Stazon on some watercolor paper.  I just bought a set of Arteza watercolor brush pens, so I used a couple of them to color it in.  I stamped the honey image from another Darcie set over top, in Sahara Sand, then die cut it out:

I embellished it with some golden pearls and a little fussy-cut bee whose wings are delicately colored with Wink of Stella...too bad you can't see it here!  My final addition was a couple of little banners at the bottom.  I used an assortment of various print papers from my little 6x6 stash, as well as some gold foil, and used the Try Stampin' On Tuesday sketch 411, which has the option of vintage--yippee!!

I hope you'll play along with our "patina" challenge this week...be sure to check out the DT's creations...you will get a chuckle from Michele's!  You can see them all at the IB blog!

And here is my little busy bee; she has learned how to cut asparagus from the tiny little patch we have in our garden, and Grampy is teaching her how to snap off the ends!  She likes to pick it but she won't eat it!

Thanks for popping in...enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI 179 Happy Bee Day

Happy Friday, peeps!  Hard to believe that June is almost over....July will be here SOON!!  The As You See It  DT has a fun challenge for you today...check out these gorgeous colors!

No automatic alt text available.

At first these colors stumped me, but then I found this piece of My Mind's Eye paper (I couldn't find the cover of the pad, so I don't know the name) and it had almost all the colors on it already!  How convenient!  It had a rose-colored floral already printed on the side so I created a different one in Flirty Flamingo to cover it up, then added a few more embellishments of my own:

Everything on the right side of the paper was stamped with images from Darcie's Heart & Home, except for the honeycomb, which is from a retired My Favorite Things set.  Even the little sentiment in the center was added on!  The flowers are from W+9's Freehand Florals:

I added some sequins and a shabby seam-binding bow, then I diecut a circle from the bottom of the panel, flipped it over and stamped the sentiment, then added the black lace and bee images, stamped in Basic Black:

I had a strip left from the original page, so I adhered that on the inside and added a sentiment from Perennial Birthday, stamped on Gray Granite.  I used a square Stitched Shapes framelit to cut a rectangle!!!  I positioned the square die at the top of the sentiment and ran it through once, then re-positioned the die so that it was at the bottom of the sentiment and ran it through again, laying it on the plate so that the uncut edge would go through first.  I turned the crank, but only until I heard the first "clunk", signifying that only the bottom portion of the die went through the BS, then turned it back.  Clear as mud? I'll have to take some pictures to show you sometime!

The design team has some marvelous creations to show you...be sure to stop by the AYSI blog and share your creations with us as well!

Cassidy is with her daddy all next week, so I will get a little vacation!  We did do a little art project today; she painted her little wooden tooth fairy box (she was using it as a first-aid box!!!).  She painted it white, then added some other colors to the top.  I have to learn that my idea of a good paint job and hers are a little different, but she was proud of it (even though she refused to smile for the photo!!!)!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
