RetroRubber 83 Anything Goes

Hi everyone!  Tuesday means another Retro Rubber challenge and this is an easy one---Anything Goes!  Just use stamps that are least a year old, and tell us how old they are!!

Image may contain: text

I switched gears from Easter yesterday to Christmas today, dusting off a stamp set from 2012 called Winter Memories--again, it was only in the Holiday mini and I barely had time to use it!  I stamped the ice skates in Stazon black and used watercolors and markers to color it in:

I colored a little Soft Sky "shadow" behind the image to give it a little depth, which looks nice with the blue background papers I used:

The sentiment is from the same set, stamped in Poppy Parade, diecut with a square Stitched Shape die, repositioning it so I could get the rectangle shape.  My background is the Plaid Flannel stamp (2006), which is another stamp I'd been wanting for a while and finally found it on ebay!  The little holly leaves are from the Quilt Builder die set; I sponged the edges in Craft White ink, and punched some berries from a scrap of the same paper I used on the front of the card...those little white dots came in handy for my berries' highlights!

And for the inside, I used a stamp set from 2013 called Warmth and Wonder:

And now I have another card for my Christmas stash!  I hope you'll play along with us...the field is wide open!  Share it with us at Retro Rubber and meanwhile, check out what everyone else created for some fun inspiration!  You'll be surprised at what's in the gallery this week!

The library had Candy Bar Bingo yesterday...I don't think they were prepared for the 40+ children that showed up....but the librarian kept her cool and everyone went home a winner!  It was especially fun since the bingo chips were Hershey's Kisses!

(Notice the kisses all lined up!!!)

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

ColourQ166

DSCF1323
Happy Tuesday, everyone!  Arielle has a gorgeous BLUE inspiration photo for the ColourQ challenge today:
I love, love, love blue, and I love music, but for the life of me, I couldn’t get the two to merge today!  So I went with another look, a starburst (thanks to Denise for giving me some directions!) and a big, honking, glittery snowflake:
LeAnne_CQC166
After creating my starburst, I ran it through a snowflake embossing folder, then stamped my snowflake from The Snowflake Spot (ret)  in Pacific Point and versamark ink, embossed it with Heat & Stick powder, then finished it with some MS glitter—that stuff is gorgeous!

I added a smaller circle to the back so that it would show up a bit better, and heat-embossed a sentiment from Winter Memories in white craft ink and white embossing powder:

A couple of glimmer brads a some silver glimmer paper finished it off!  I can’t wait to see what you come up with using these beautiful monochromatic shades!  This also qualifies for the Hand Stamped Sentiment challenge 147, which is monochromatic!  Be sure to check out the ColourQ blog to see ALL the amazing creations this week!
Anybody for a pickle?

SCH34

DSCF0159-001
I’ve been trying to get this project done all week….the challenge theme 34 at Sugar Creek Hollow is Sew Fashionable, and you must have a fashion item on your project!  I recently bought a whole stash of Workbasket books; the oldest was from 1948, and that’s where this crocheted bathing suit pattern originated:
DSCF0157
I cannot imagine making ANY kind of bathing attire, let alone a crocheted one.  My first dive into the ocean and it would be wet and sagging for sure!  But here it is—I even used some of the directions as part of the embellishments, along with some Graphic 45 papers, a few buttons from my stash and an old measuring tape we found when cleaning out my MIL’s sewing room.

I did add some “water spots” from the French Foliage set, and stamped a cheesecloth image on the background.  This is larger than a card, so I made it into a little vignette and added a stand to prop it up on the back.  This is probably not as “embellished” as some vintage things are, but I didn’t want it to look too awfully crowded!
Cassidy has a bit of a cold, but it didn’t stop her from showing off her artistic skills in coloring the jack-o-lantern Grammy drew for her:

There are also “raindrops”, drawn by the little artist HERSELF!

Merry Monday 34

DSCF8363

Hi everyone!  Hope you had a good weekend!  I had fun at my upline meeting and I’ll share some photos later on in the week!  Now it’s time for another sketch for Merry Monday, and Lesley has a really easy sketch for you to work with:

Since the sketch was pretty basic, I decided to use an image with a little more detail in it from the new set in the Holiday Mini called Winter Memories:

MM34-LeAnne

I stamped in the image in Stazon on watercolor paper and used my aquapainter and reinkers to color it in:

Of course, my glitter got everywhere….even Mr. Cardinal has a face full of it LOL!  I added a simple little sentiment from Tiny Tags and some stitched ribbon and a button for my embellishment.  I hope this inspires you to get started on your Christmas cards, if you haven’t already!  Be sure to check out the other Merry Monday creations at Lesley’s blog, Always Playing with Paper!

Cassidy is away for a few days, so I don’t have any new photos to share, but I thought might like this video:

Anyone remember doing this when they were little?  I apologize for the noise my camera makes while videoing….I have NO idea why it does that!  Have a great day!

Paper Players 110

DSCF6280-002

Happy Sunday, peeps!  It’s my turn to be the hostess at the Paper Players, and I’ve got a sketch for you!

This is a fun, versatile sketch---feel free to use any shape for your central image, and you can even flip it like I did here:

PP110-LeAnne

I used the new Winter Memories set from the Holiday Mini for my monochromatic card.  I think that Island Indigo is such a pretty color for this image!  And since I didn’t color anything in, it was quick to make, too!  I embossed my white background with the Snowburst EF and added some sparkly Glimmer paper for extra pizzazz!

And of course, bling and glitter make everything better too!  I hope you’ll be able to use this sketch for one of your own creations, and share it with us on the Paper Players blog!  I’d be thrilled if you would check out what the other designers are sharing as well!

See you next week!
