Gingerbread Reindeer

Happy Thursday, peeps!  My Christmas card today uses an image that I've been shuffling around on my desk for a while; it felt good to finally get it used, LOL!  Here we go:

I had stamped this little reindeer from Unity on a stitched circle of Kraft cardstock and colored it in; I can't even remember if I used reinkers or markers, that's how long ago I did it!  He looks like a gingerbread cookie to me!  When I saw the FMS sketch for this week, I thought I could use it; it's a little off from the sketch but I used it anyway:

I used some plaid paper from an Echo Park Magic of Christmas pad, added a scalloped mat and a little bow:

And I put two phrases from two different sets for the punny sentiment:

And since the Jingle Belles want to see animals this week, I am entering it there as well!

 Happy Tuesday, everyone! Time for a new Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge!  I used the sketch today for a pretty Christmas card:

As was the case in yesterday's card, one of the Christmas cards we made at my stamp camp used the papers from A Stitched Season, which has rows of fun little "quilt" designs.  I trimmed down one panel of three quilts to create my card! I mounted it on a Basic Beige card base, added a fun little rickrack trim panel of Peaceful Pine and Real Red, then a sentiment from the retired Brightest Glow:

52CCTD Nativity Scene

Happy Monday, all! The 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge this month is to create a mini scene with shaped dies:

I had a Christmas card stamp camp on Saturday and we just happened to make a card that fit the challenge!  Here we go:

We diecut a nativity scene from Impression Obsession using Secret Sea cardstock and placed it on a woodgrain Stitched Triangle diecut, adding the little glimmer star at the point:

The background is embossed with a Tim Holtz Brick embossing folder, and the inside sentiment is from an older wooden set called Star Studded Season:

Merry Christmas Bear

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I have a sweet Christmas card today that I hope will bring a smile to the recipient's face:

I used the sketch from Sunday Stamps:

and some stamps from Unity's Holly Jolly Holiday' sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp's Tiny Words Christmas. I just love the expression on that bear's face:

I used the color palette from Clean & Simple Colours & Sketches (Cajun Craze, Mossy Meadow and Golden Glow), but I am thinking it's not quite CAS enough!  I used the retired Buffalo Check for the background and added another Unity sentiment on the inside:

AHSC704 Merry Christmas

Happy Tuesday, all!  I am gearing up for Christmas, since I have a lot of Halloween cards left from last year!  I used the Atlantic Hearts sketch for this one, using some pretty Unity papers:

And here's the sketch for this week:

These papers from Unity are called Quiet Christmas Morning, and in hindsight, I wish I had used Basic Beige instead of Very Vanilla for the banners and sentiment; I think they would have matched the papers better! BUT it is what it is, and since the papers did most of the work, it went together pretty quickly.  I backed my Very Vanilla panel with a dimensional sheet before diecutting it, so the whole sentiment from Peaceful Seasons is popped up.  The "merry" is from Greetings of the Season, stamped in Soft Succulent ink:

My star banner was a freebie from Scrapbook.com, and to be they look a little awkward because they're not succumbing to gravity and are hanging sideways!!!  But again, it is what it is! My final addition was a wee little linen thread bow:

My inside sentiment is also from Peaceful Wishes:

LRW880 Happy Halloween

Happy Friday, all! Yay, I get to stamp with my ladies at the local retirement community today; that's always fun!  First, I'll show you my CAS Halloween card created for the Little Red Wagon challenge!  Here we go:

Their challenge is to use a frame, and I remembered that I had this twiggy frame from Poppy Whittles that had barely ever been used!  I diecut it in Basic Black and added some Whittle punkins and a simple sentiment:

Do you like their "glowing" mouths?! LOL!  I used an older CTMH sentiment for the inside:

Since I had my Whittle dies out, I created a Christmas one, although I am not as happy with this one--I added an outer frame from Penny Black, and wish I had left it plain:

This one uses the same twiggy frame in Pecan Pie, a pair of trees in Pretty Peacock, a stitched snowbank and some wee little glimmery stars:

A couple of pretty little sentiments from past Paper Pumpkin sets were stamped in Real Red:

52CCT2026-37 Christmas Bunny

Happy Thursday, everyone! Hope you're having a good week so far!  The weather has been fabulous here in PA....enjoying these fall days immensely!  But I am shifting from fall cards to Christmas today!  Here we go:

I am using the sketch from 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, flipping the sketch so my bunny wasn't looking off the edge of the card!

I am going through my older stamps, and this little bunny is from a Artistic Outpost set called Midwinter,  I stamped him in Smoky Slate, diecut him with a circle die, then created a couple of masks to create a snowy field and sky:

I added a mini sentiment from Simon Says Stamp and a glimmer snowflake, then layered it all on a Cloud Cover mat embossed with a Snowflake Swirls folder.  I also added a mat of Smoky Slate.  A sentiment from W+9 went on the inside:

I know I need to make some Halloween cards, but it was nice to make a calm, soothing Christmas card today!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AYSI382 Fill in the Blank

Hey stampers, happy Friday! Time for a new As You See It challenge, and it's Fill in the Blank week!  SO.....how many Christmas cards have you created yet, three months before the holiday?  LOL!

My answer would be that this is the "umpteenth" card, because I make Christmas cards all year long!  I love to make them!  This gave me a chance to use a new Simon Says Stamp stamp I got last year and never used!  It's called Jingle All the Way!  So here we go:

I stamped my images in Real Red and Peaceful Pine and diecut them with the matching dies.  I had a piece of white cardstock already embossed with a Polka Dot embossing folder, so I simply created a scalloped mat and mounted it on a pretty piece of Peaceful Pink gingham. I love the crisp red with the green!

Did you know that if you don't have a scalloped die that fits your panel, you can cut two scalloped squares and piece them together!?  That's what I did for this one....you may be able to see a tiny spot on the side where they were matched up!  A pretty sentiment from the retired Seasonal Tags went on the inside:

PP804 CAS Challenge from Christy

Hello, stamping friends! It's time for a new challenge from the Paper Players, with Christy as our hostess.  It's Clean and Simple time!  And what a fun one she has chosen: 

I don't have many bear stamps, but I did remember this little guy from Thankful Forest Friends.  I went looking for some "beary" sentiments and came up with this one from My Creative Time, so I made a Christmas card:

This is a little less CAS than I normally do, but hopefully it still qualifies!  I did some masking after stamping my little bear in Pecan Pie, adding some Soft Sea Foam trees from the retired Trees for Sale set.  The sentiment was stamped in Cherry Cobbler, so I added some Cherry Cobbler glimmer stars to match:

And of course, I embossed a Soft Sea Foam mat with Swirls of Magic for a fun background.  Another My Creative Time sentiment went on the inside, and since I had some leftover stars, they went on the inside too!

This bear reminds me of Masha and the Bear! Have you ever seen any of those cartoons?  They're Russian but they have them dubbed in English; Cassidy and I loved watching them. Masha sure knows how to get herself into trouble and the bear always rescues her just in time!  You can watch Jam Day on YouTube!!!  (We prefer the older ones, I haven't watched the newer ones!).  And since the CAS Christmas Card challenge is asking for Woodland Critters, I am entering it there as well!

AHSC697 Snowflake Christmas

 Happy Monday, all! Can you believe it's the last day of August!?  Time flies! And it's time for a new Atlantic Hearts sketch:

I pulled out some Echo Park paper scraps and came up with this:

I created a frame with the Rectangle Stitched dies and added some snowflake paper behind it, then mounted it on another piece of coordinating starry paper.  I was a little disappointed that my glittery snowflakes didn't show up as nicely as I thought they would, but you know, when you've already put time into a card, sometimes you just gotta go with it!  I used the retired Peaceful Season dies for my big Christmas sentiment, and the retired Bitty Banners die for the small Merry:

I backed the Merry with a wee little bit of Cherry Cobbler grosgrain ribbon, and added some glittery sequins to the center of the snowflakes.  Sentiments from the same set went on the inside:

I think this is a lovely basic sketch and could be used for a variety of seasons or occasions! I hope you'll play along with us at Atlantic Hearts!  

John took his BIL, nephew and two great-nephews out on the boat on Friday to do some fishing! Zion and Titus got to "drive" the boat and they all did some chillin' as well!!

Blessed Christmas Tides

Happy Saturday, all! I have a Christmas card for you today; it was sort of a test, but it didn't come out too bad, but I will definitely be attempting this again, it was fun!  The 52 Christmas Card Throwdown wants to see cards made with the Fractured Technique (there is a link on their blog), and the Jingle Belles want to see stickers!  I just happened to use a sticker on my card, so yippee!

Here we go:

My vintage panel is from Cathe Holden's Christmas Flea Market Finds' Loving Christmas Wishes stickers.  I cut a couple of strips from Poppy Parade using the Taylored Expressions Easy Strips dies...these were 1/2" and I think they're just a wee bit overpowering for my image.  Next time I'll try the 1/4" ones!  They all went on a One Horse Sleigh DSP from a couple of years ago.

I added a Simon Says Stamp Pretty Bow 2 diecut, shabbying it up a bit with some Crumb Cake ink, and an old sentiment from Cornish Heritage Farms on the inside.  

This technique is incredibly easy and really eye-catching! I will definitely be trying it again, because heaven knows I have a plethora of Christmas papers!!! 

I belong to a knitting/crocheting/crafting group at my church and it is full of extremely talented women!  My friend Claudia recently created this afghan.....it was a labor of love and it took a LONG time:

Each white stripe is crocheted in a different stitch, and all the stars were crocheted, then sewn on individually!  (She said they almost did her in!!!)
