Remembering Our Fallen Heroes

Thinking of those who paid the ultimate price this Memorial Day.....and what a wonderful country in which we live because of them!  Although we can't thank them, we can thank the ones they've left behind and let them know their loved ones are not forgotten.

I will be taking a couple of days off from blogging because of our house project....it's getting to the nitty-gritty, down-and-dirty stuff, so I want to be able to help wherever and whenever I can!  Our kitchen is now set up in the garage---it's a bit cozy and there's no dishwasher, but it is really not a bad setup at all!  The walls between the living room and new kitchen will be down tomorrow and I am beginning to get a feel of how big it will be! I'll be back when the dust settles...literally!

Have a blessed day!

Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day to all my US friends.  I hope you will spend some quiet time today, thinking of our fallen servicemen.  Here is a little except from today's Trivia of the Day, by Michael Gallagher (which is interesting reading, BTW):

"To help re-educate and remind Americans of the true meaning of Memorial Day, the “National Moment of Remembrance” resolution was passed on Dec 2000 which asks that at 3 p.m. local time, for all Americans “To voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a Moment of remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever they are doing for a moment of silence or listening to ‘Taps.”
Where will you be and what will you be doing at 3:00 p.m. today?"
I plan to set my phone alarm to 3pm for some quiet time, so I don't forget!
We cherish, too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.
Moina Michael
Have a blessed day, whatever you do!

Happy Memorial Day

Crafty_Secrets_HVint_USA2012_2

Just saying thank you to all our fallen troops over the years….their sacrifice makes it possible for us to continue to live in this great nation!  And here are a few photos of my favorite serviceman, along with a couple of others from our local parade on Saturday:

Mojo193, JB22 & CAS121

First, Happy Memorial Day to all!  It is a beautiful, hot, sunny day here in PA, and although we are enjoying the weather,  our hearts go out to the families of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so we can be free.

I had a little free time today to stamp a couple Christmas cards for my stash!  The first one is for SCS’s CAS121, which was to use folded or scrunched ribbon:

I know it is difficult to see in this photo, but the ribbon ends are adhered at different points as they “frame” my little Scottie dog.  I lightened this photo so you can see it a bit better:

The stamp is from Picture Show; DP is Max & Whiskers, BG; image is colored using ink & blender pen.  Easy peasy.

The next one uses the Mojo Monday 193 sketch:

and also qualifies for the Jingle Belles “We Three Kings” challenge, which is to use three DPs in your card.  So here we go:

There’s actually no stamping on this card, except for the sentiment inside!! Yikes!  I altered the ribbon element to fit my picture a bit better.  The images are from Crafty Secrets, DPs are Wassail from BG.  Here’s a closer view:

The snowflake is from SU’s Northern Flurries diecut, covered in Versamark, Heat & Stick Powder and some MS vintage glitter.

I don’t have any pictures of Miss Cassidy today, but I do have a couple from the Memorial Day parade John & I were in!  He marches with other servicemen; I march with my local Curves:

One of the Curves girls, Barbara (not shown), brought three alpacas to march with us!  Carol, the owner, got elected to help “walk” them!  She, Barbara, her husband Jerry and I all went to school together.  Who would think so many (many, many!) years later we’d be walking alpacas down the main street of our little town of West Grove, PA!!!  LOL!  They were quite a hit with everyone!  I hope you have a wonderful day!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend

I am taking a break from stamping today (sort of!) although I do have some things to post. This morning our little town had its little Memorial Day Parade. It is short & sweet, but it is meaningful in its own way. My DH was in the Navy Seabees, so he likes to march with the other participants. It is an emotional time when you think about all the men and women who have sacrificed their lives so we can live in this wonderful country. We should pray every day, thanking the Lord for the blessings we have.

Thanks for sharing a little of our day!

Now for some quickie stampin' stuff: these are some cards I stamped during the week for a stamp club girl who is expecting! She wants to make her baby announcements with a Wordsworth stamp, so she asked me for some suggestions. These are what I've come up with so far; I like to make very simple cards when I know my customers are going to be making a lot of them!!

Baby Card 1 Baby Card 2

Baby Card 3 Baby Card 4

These are fairly simple, and there are ways to make the steps even easier: the star and the squares on the pink card can be punched out, and the bottom portion of the sailboat can also be punched out using the SU 1 1/4" punch!! How easy is that? TFL!

  • Stamps: Wordsworth sentiment, Nursery Necessities, Fun & Fast Notes
  • Paper: WW, Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, Almost Amethyst, Cert. Celery, Berry Bliss DP
  • Ink: Bashful Blue, Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, Almost Amethyst, Stazon Black
  • Acc: Markers, punches, dimensionals
