PP414 Colors of Fall

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Jaydee is our Paper Players hostess and I was happy to see these fall hues in her challenge palette:

I have lots of leafy stamps, but in the end, I chose a retired set called Thankful Forest Friends, along with the current Flourishing Phrases and Buffalo Check, to create my thankful fall card today:

I stamped my sentiment on a piece of Very Vanilla in Cajun Craze, and although it's hard to see, I stamped the wood image from Rooted in Nature first (it was inked in Sahara Sand, then stamped off).  I stamped the leafy parts of the stamp again in the challenge colors on scraps of VV, then fussy-cut them out and adhered them to the image:

I cut out three leaves from Flourishing Phrases and cut them out as well, because I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

My final touches were to diecut the sentiment with a stitched die and add a scallop of Crushed Curry, then to layer it on a panel of Mossy Meadow, stamped with the Buffalo Check background stamp!  I love the homey feel of this!  And since it's a "thankful" card, I am also entering it in the Little Red Wagon challenge of Thankful for You!

Hope you will play with our challenge this week!  Check out what the DT did for even more inspiration:

No Cassidy pictures this weekend, but I do have a few pictures from the last couple days...John and I went to the Annapolis Boat Show with friends, who then took us to National Harbor, which is south of Washington, DC. I had never even heard of it, but it's a nice waterfront area with lots of fun shops and restaurants.  The day of the boat show, we finally had SUNSHINE!  We saw LOTS of boats:

We took a water taxi to another marina to see some more boats, and there were tables and a little Shasta trailer made into a bar, so we took a little break:

It was so nice to bask in the warm sun!  I'll show some more pix later!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

GDP123 Congratulations for Sawyer

Hi peeps!  It's Wednesday, halfway through the week!  My nephew (the same one who did our remodel) and his wife had their baby yesterday, a little brother for Jameson!  I loved our As You See It sketch for his week:

so I thought I would use it again, this time flipping it so my little critters weren't staring off into space on the other side of the card:

I opted to do something a little different than a traditional blue card; my nephew is an avid outdoorsman, so I thought these little forest creatures from Thankful Forest Friends would be fun:

The plaid paper is from Carta Bella's Christmas Delivery but it works great here, don't you think?  I stamped each of the critters and fussy-cut them out, then added some black grosgrain ribbon and a few little enamel dots.  The congrats stamp is from  last year's Suite Sentiments.  The Global Design Project's challenge theme is "New Beginnings", so I am entering there as well:

And here are the happy parents:

We are thrilled to welcome Sawyer into our family!  You can't tell from here, but he looks just like his big brother!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP365 Joanne's Color Challenge

Hi everyone!  Hope your Sunday is going well!  It's time for another Paper Players challenge!  This week, the uber-creative Joanne is our hostess with an interesting color palette:

I had a couple of ideas for these colors, in fact I created one and really wasn't that enthusiastic about it, so I did another...much better!  One thing about the mini catalogs...there are tons of cute sets in them, but I rarely get a lot of use from them before the next one comes out!  That's what happened with this set from last year's mini...it's called Thankful Forest Friends, and it has the cutest little animals in it and yet, I don't think I have inked it up but once or twice!  So I gave them some love (and ink) for today's card:

I stamped the sentiment on white cardstock in Crushed Curry, first coloring in the acorn with an Early Espresso marker before stamping.  Then I added some Peekaboo Peach color to a few of the leaves with some ink and a blender pen.  It was framed with a photo frame diecut in Crushed Curry, under which I tucked a bear and fox, which were stamped separately and fussy-cut out:

I also did some stamping on the bottom portion of the frame and added some stitched die-cut leaves and embroidery floss.  The Early Espresso mat was embossed with the Woodland embossing folder to continue the "forest" theme.  I haven't stamped an inside sentiment yet....probably a Thanksgiving one will be appropriate!

The design team has some really neat cards using these colors...check them out below, and then be sure to share your creations with us at the Paper Players blog!

Dana posted a few of her wedding photos on FB, so I snagged this one of the whole family:

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

FF95 Bear Hugs

Happy Friday, peeps!  A quick post and a quick card for today using Fab Friday's sketch:

Going through some of my old SU stuff, I found a card kit from a couple years back that had these fun little notecards, so I thought I would use this one for a birthday card for my nephew:

I paired it with some retired DSP that had a grunge look to it; a bear from last year's Thankful Forest Friends and a sentiment from The Paper Studio.  I added a couple of circle mats, a tag from Simon Says Stamp and some candy dots too!  The elements were stamped with Timeless Textures, and the bear was stamped with Soft Suede.  I added some shadowing to give him a little depth using ink and a blender pen:

He kinda makes me smile!  And so does this wee one, on a rainy trip to the bus stop.  Check out those socks!

Enjoy your day!

MTS110 For Brad's Birthday

Happy Monday, peeps!  Today is my nephew Bradley's 22nd birthday, so I thought I would use this fun sketch from Match The Sketch for his card:

I didn't get to use Thankful Forest Friends too much last season, and when I saw these fun papers from Authentique's Nestled Collection, I knew they would be a match:

Just check out those cute little faces on that paper:

I stamped the fox in Cajun Craze and cut him out and popped him up; the sentiment (past Paper Pumpkin kit) was stamped in Cajun Craze and Early Espresso, along with the little lines from SAB's Hello in Tip Top Taupe.  The card base is Tip Top Taupe also, and I stamped Hardwood in Sahara Sand on it for the background.  He likes to hunt and his family lives in a cabin in the woods, so hopefully he'll enjoy it!   And here's the inside:

Perfect for a 22YO!  I don't have a current photo of Brad (he has a full beard now), but here's one from a little while back with Dana at a family wedding:

And here he is, playing with Cassidy back before we built the garage:

He's a great guy and I hope he has a great birthday!

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Monday happened to be a big birthday for DH!  He’s not one for lots of froufrou on his cards, so he really liked the “manly” one I made for him:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Thankful Forest Friends Stampin Up 60th Birthday

I stamped the bear from Thankful Forest Friends in Soft Suede on some textured Very Vanilla cardstock, cut him out and popped him up on VV panel and stamped my sentiment from Endless Birthday Wishes in Garden Green (don’t look at the wonky way my “birthday” stamp curved!!!  Yikes!):
DSCF2906

SU’s Little Numbers provided the “60th”, and the burlap ribbon is SU as well.  The DSP is some from my stash, Echo Park’s This & That, and it’s just about the last couple of pieces I have!!!  I used the sketch from RetroSketches:

Cassidy insisted that Grampy wear a Happy Birthday headpiece:

and couldn’t wait to “help” him open his gifts and blow out the candles!!!

And guess what Grampy has begun doing, now that he's 60?  He started taking piano lessons!  Oh boy!  Enjoy your day!

CCMC379 Thankful Forest Friends

DSCF2694

Hi everyone!  I just received the cute Thankful Forest Friends set yesterday afternoon and just had to sit down and get it inky.  My craft room is an incredible mess; but I’ll clean up today!  I hadn’t played with the Create with Connie & Mary challenge lately, and they had an interesting sketch:

CCMC379

So here we go:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Thankful Forest Friends All Boxed Up Stampin Up

Most of the time when I make a card, I’ve got an occasion or person in mind, but this one wasn’t for anyone specific, so I used a fun little sentiment from All Boxed Up.  You could send happy thoughts for any number of occasions, right?  I used the Circle Thinlets to cut out my circles, and embossed each one with a different EF, then stamped and cut out my wee little animals:

I used Tip Top Taupe ink and DSP, added some Soft Sky seam binding ribbon and a few well-placed Soft Sky candy dots, then mounted everything on a Soft Sky base.  I didn’t stamp anything on the inside, I’ll do that when I decide for what occasion I’ll be sending it!

We took down our Halloween decorations yesterday and put up our Thanksgiving ones!  Cassidy is at the age now where she is remembering things from last year, and couldn’t wait to line up my Pilgrims and Indians on top of the piano:

She lined up all my turkeys too, but we’ll save that for another day!  Thanks for popping by!
