MM182 For The Birds

DSCF3170

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Today’s card is one of those cards…you know the ones I mean.  You get an idea in your head and spend a lot of time on it and somehow, it just doesn’t pan out the way you’d hope it would, but you’ve spent so much time on it, you can’t bear to throw it away…..yeah, this is one of those cards (sigh).  I was happy to see that “birds” were the theme of the Merry Monday challenge:

Isn’t he a cutie?  Well, don’t go looking for him on my card….not there.  But, here it is, nonetheless:

I am not sure which is the worst….the droopy-looking “icicles”; the family silhouetted against the screaming red “wallpaper”…or my poor little bird all alone on the windowsill:

Nah, he’s probably the best part of the whole card!  I do love the background too, but it maybe should have been saved for a different card…..oh well, I like the inside:

I used a bunch of retired sets here, so if anyone wants to know what’s what, just email me!  I think I might hang up my stamping hat if my mojo doesn’t return soon, LOL!

For lunch yesterday, Cassidy was eating a take-home salad from her dinner the night before…

She pointed to the ranch dressing at the bottom of the cup and said, “Look, Grammy!  A uvula!”

Oh my goodness…how does she come up with these things?  Yep, looks like a uvula to me, too!  Now, with that image in your head, enjoy your day!

Paper Players 114

DSCF8371

Hi everyone!  It’s Paper Players time, and Ann has a very sweet sketch for us today:

The Jingle Belles had a cute challenge this week, “Dashing Through the Snow”, so I decided to make a Christmas card with the sketch:

PP114-LeAnne-001

I went pretty clean and simple with this, using non-traditional “snow” colors of Always Artichoke and Riding Hood Red!!!  I thought the little silhouette from Welcome Christmas was appropriate for dashing through the snow!

And I can’t seem to get away from glimmer paper---I used it as my mat—and added a sparkly snowflake too.  Although it’s hard to see, there is a border of snow-playing children stamped at the bottom:

This is certainly a fun sketch with lots of possibilities—fall, Halloween, birthday, Christmas—you name it!  We can’t wait to see what you do with it, and be sure to share it with us at the Paper Players blog, where you can also see what all the other fabulously creative designers shared this week too! As always, if you have any questions about anything on my card, just shoot me an email!

Merry Monday 25

 DSCF0984

Happy Monday, peeps!  I hope you had a great weekend….we did!  It’s time for another Merry Monday sketch!  I hope you’ll find some time in your schedule to use this to make another Christmas card to add to your supply.  If you’ve not played before, jump right in!  Here’s the sketch from Lesley for this week:

I went super, super CAS this week because I have company coming and I needed to make this QUICK!  I made a tent-topper card (at least that’s what I call it!) using two retired sets, Welcome Christmas and Jolly Old Saint Nick:

Merry Monday 25 - LeAnne

The card base is  4 1/4” square, and the topper extends just far enough to allow it to still fit into a standard-size envelope.  I stamped the image in Always Artichoke on Confetti White and used my Nestabilities to cut the circle and scalloped mats:

A really simple ribbon embellishment atop some pretty retired SU paper, and it was done!  Hope you find some inspiration in what the other designers have created this week as well….they are BEAUTIFUL!  Check them out at the Always Playing with Paper blog!!

Since I will have company this week, I may be blogging and commenting less frequently, but I’ll be back next week for sure!  Here’s a little Cassidy fix for you, awaiting her piece of “cake” as Grampy cuts it:

Card Monkey 64

DSCF2189-1

Happy Saturday, everyone!  I was blessed enough to be asked to be a guest designer again for those sweet girls at a la Card Monkey

Here’s the sketch & challenge:

Monkey 64 Christmas in July-001

Well, that fits right into my one-a-week Christmas card challenge to myself! I chose to do CAS, as the days before convention are flying by!

Card Monkey 64

Elegant Eggplant is a color I rarely use, so I thought it would be nice to make a monochromatic Christmas card with this regal color!  Welcome Christmas has such lovely silhouettes, and each word from the sentiment from Come to Bethlehem was inked with markers and stacked so I could punch them out with a circle punch:

I also added the sentiment from Welcome Christmas on the inside:

That Patterns DP looks so nice with this!  I hope you have some time to play along with those Card Monkeys, too!

Wee Details:

  • Stamps:  Welcome Christmas, Come to Bethlehem
  • Paper:  VV, Elegant Eggplant,  Elegant Eggplant Patterns DP
  • Ink:  Elegant Eggplant

Christmas SR69 & PPA91

DSCF4052

For my weekly Christmas card, I used the Stampin Royalty sketch today along with the challenge from Pals Paper Arts, which was buttons. Here’s the sketch:

SR69_sketch-001

I totally spaced out on seeing the panel behind the Top Note image….hope the challenge police don’t kick me out! Anyway, this card didn’t translate to paper the way I had envisioned, but I kept at it as I had already invested the time:

I hadn’t done any vintage for a while, and these Newsprint papers were neglected, so I thought they would look good with this silhouette Christmas set, Welcome Christmas. I pulled some little buttons from my stash for the button theme.

It has been very warm & humid for this time of the year, and we’re supposed to get severe storms later today. My heart goes out to those across the country who were affected by the tornadoes—some scary stuff! Anyway, despite the breeze and fans, sometimes when one wakes up from one’s nap, one is still a bit sweaty:
