PP471 Sugar-Sprinkled Season

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Today is our last Paper Players challenge of 2019!!  Wow, this year zipped by!  We'll be taking off the next few weeks so our designers can have a break!!  Today is my turn to host the challenge, and I have a color challenge for you:

I wonder what I had in mind when I chose these colors...I have no idea!  But someone had a gingerbread challenge on their blog and that got my mind going, so here's my take on it:

My little gingerbread, stamped in Crumb Cake is on a silver "cookie sheet"!  I gave him some "sugar" decorations with some Ice Stampin' Glitter, and I also embellished the bottom edge of the embossed Seaside Spray panel with some silver ribbon!  Even though it looks coppery here, his cookie sheet really is silver:

To add a little more silver to the mix, I heat-embossed a sentiment with Silver embossing powder as well:

I think this is a pretty color combo, and I hope you'll play along with us over at the Paper Players!  Be sure to stop by at least to see what gorgeous creations the DT came up with!  Share yours too!  See you there!

We have a covered dish at church today, so it's going to be busy--I put up my tree yesterday as well as a wreath on my dad's grave...it was one year yesterday he passed away.  The kids got their tree yesterday as well:

Can't wait to see it all decorated!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP470 Fluffy Little Frosty Snowman

Happy Sunday, peeps!  AND Happy December!  Woohoo!  Laurie is our Paper Players hostess with a sweet, fun theme challenge:

How cute is this little snowman?  He reminded me of a Penny Black snowman image I had, so I dusted it off, inked it up in some Weathered Wood Distress Ink and did a wee bit of watercoloring to give him some life:

For my layout, I used the Paper Craft Crew Card sketch:

Vertical Sketch Challenge with square in bottom left corner with designer series paper background on bottom one-third of the card.

I stamped my little snowman on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock, trimmed out the top of his hat and then ran it through the Big Shot with the hat placed OVER the top of the die.  I then colored him with Balmy Blue, Garden Green, Flirty Flamingo and Pumpkin Pie inks and an aquapainter:

I found a couple of background papers in my stash that I thought would look good together; the blue paper even had some foil-printed snowflakes already on it!  Perfect!  I added some Silver Foil swirls and snowflakes and adhered a few silver sequins as well.  The sentiment is from an old Whippersnapper set, and believe it or not, this is NOT a Christmas card...it's a birthday card for a special someone who has a December birthday!  So I stamped this on this inside:

along with another little snowman in the corner, from the same Whippersnapper set!  I love snowmen!

I know there are lots of you out there that just love snowmen, so show us what you create at the Paper Players!  And meanwhile, check out what the DT has created over at the PP blog!  Thanks for popping in today!

Cassidy hasn't worked on her loopy-yarn blanket for a while, so I was happy when Dana sent me these pictures!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP469 Starry Thanks

Hello, everyone!  It's Paper Players time, with Joanne as our fabulous hostess, and a fabulous sketch!

My sweet friend Debbie recently bought me a stitched star die, so I thought this sketch would be a perfect one to use to create a thank you card, and since there was a star on the sketch, I used my new die, too!  So here we go:

My papers are from SU's Night Before Christmas; they feature really bold colors and patterns on one side, and smaller prints on the other, so I chose two prints that featured some stars and put them together for the sketch!  I used a retired border die to make the big scallops, and punched out a few stars from the green paper to embellish them!  I stamped a sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings on the Crushed Curry paper in Old Olive ink:

I diecut the star and some swirls from some retired glimmer paper I had in my stash, and used a Very Vanilla stitched circle to put behind it for contrast:

And since the Just Add Ink challenge this week is to choose two elements, I have stars and sparkles!

I really love how this card came out!  I hope you'll play with our Paper Players sketch this week, too, and check out what the DT created as well...you can see them at our PP blog! Thanks for popping by today!

So we made a trip to the Dollar Store and got some goodies for two Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes!!

One down, one to go!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP468 CAS North Pole

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Hope your weekend is going well!  It's Jaydee's turn to be our Paper Players hostess and she has a fun CAS challenge for us:

I love it!  Have you ever seen the northern lights?  We had some one night, very faint, but normally we are way too south to see them.  They sure are beautiful!  I had to be satisfied with using some frosty colors and snow on my card today:

This is probably a little less CAS than I normally make; I thought of making it one layer, but I would have had to make some masks, and I thought if I am going to be cutting things out, I might as well just stamp my little images and cut them out instead of masks!  I used thick white cardstock, stamping my little critters with Memento ink and coloring them with Blends.  I embossed the card with the Softly Falling EF, then added (the dreaded) Stickles to the ice, Wink of Stella to the ice cube, and some Martha Stewart chunky glitter to the hats:

It's very fun and sparkly in real life!  I stamped the sentiment in Balmy Blue and added a little glimmer snowflake:

as a sentiment from a Flourishes stamp on the inside!

I am also entering this in the Jingle Belles challenge where they're highlighting cold weather wear--gloves, scarves, hats, etc!  I think this could fit the bill!

So how will our challenge inspire you?  I hope you'll play along and enter your creation over at the Paper Players blog...while you're there, check out what the other designers did!  Remember to keep it clean and simple too!  Thanks for popping in today!

Paper Players 467 Holiday Cheer

Hi stampers!  Happy Sunday!  Claire is our hostess at the Paper Players this week with a fabulous color challenge..bright and cheerful!  Here you go:

At first glance, I panicked a little when I saw the colors---PURPLE!!  But I put on my thinking cap and came up with this:

I used the CAS(E) this Sketch sketch:

and began my making my own "DSP" by stamping some snowflakes in all three colors on a piece of white cardstock.  It looked a little plain, so I did some sponging around the edges for more definition, which looked much better!  I created some sentiments using Concord & 9th dies, layering the "cheer" with three layers of Granny Apple Green cardstock, as well as backing the "holiday" with a wee little strip of Bermuda Bay foil:

I remembered that I had some Bermuda Bay glimmer paper from a couple of years back, so I used that to diecut a snowflake, and added a rhinestone colored with a purple Copic:

My trend lately has been to use non-traditional colors to make a Christmas card, and this one fits that bill as well, but I like it!  I hope you'll play along with these colors as well...you don't have to make a Christmas card, you can use them for whatever you want!  Check out what the DT did as well as the Paper Players blog!

And I just happened to notice this stained glass heart that's hanging in the window in Cassidy's room; it was made by my SIL, and it has the exact same colors as Claire's challenge!  So pretty!

Thanks for stopping by today! Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP466 Christmas Woods

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Did you remember to turn your clocks back?  An extra hour is ours today---well, not really, there are still only 24 hours in a day, it's all in our minds, right?  Anyway, Anne Marie is our hostess today at the Players and here's her theme:

I have a lot of nice "woods" stamps but I really want to use this little line of trees I got last year from Lawn Fawn, so I went more "trees" than "woods" for my theme!  Check it out:

I had some strips of Crumb Cake in my scrap bin and this little lineup fit perfectly on one of them; I stamped them in Memento ink and used an old Copic (I forget that I have those) to color it in.  I found a marvelous white gel pen at a local stamp store and I highly recommend it; it's called Acrylista and it is by Zig.  I used it to fill in the snowy tree tops and add some little snow on the ground:

The DSP I used is not really my favorite pattern, it's from Warmth and Cheer from a few years back, but I am trying to use up some of my stash (we all say that, right?) and the image seemed to fit.  I gave my stamped piece a Garden Green mat that had been embossed with a zig-zag stitch die to mimic the stitching on the paper.  My final touch was a sentiment from Itty Bitty Christmas (I just isolated the "joy" with a marker) and some Real Red ribbon!

Our DT has created some fabulous woodsy cards--I invite you to check them all out at the Paper Players blog and share yours with us as well!  We have been treated to some gorgeous creations lately, it's always fun to see what our stamping friends cook up!

I sent my friend Michele some diecut card fronts, and she promptly turned one into the CUTEST Halloween card ever and sent it to Cassidy:

Isn't that some collection of googly eyes?!  Wowza!

Cassidy LOVED it....what a sweet gesture!  Thanks, Michele!!♥

PP465 A Sketch from Ann

Hi everyone!  Sunday means another Paper Players challenge, with Ann as our hostess!  She has given us a fabulous sketch...I just love this one!

I haven't played with Painted Harvest for a while, and I thought it would be pretty in Terracotta Tile, which is a great fall color!  I paired it with some gingham and Come to Gather DSPs:

I diecut the woodgrain paper with a Stitched Shape square die, then stamped the flower in Terracotta Tile and Crumb Cake, then fussy-cut it out:

I stamped a few leaves in Soft Suede and placed them under the flower as well as under my sentiment.  The card base was embossed with the Tufted EF, and I also added some Linen Braid trim!

Finally, on the inside, I stamped another sentiment and the smaller flower, stamped off on a scrap first to give it a lighter effect:

I hope you'll play along with our awesome sketch---there are so many possibilities with it!  Share yours at the Paper Players blog, and while you're there, check out what the other design team member made as well!  Thanks for popping in today!

Cassidy with her "First Visit to Disney" sticker!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
