PP451 Masculine Clean and Simple

Hi everyone!  Sunday brings another Paper Players challenge...good thing it was a clean and simple one, my weekend has been a busy one, so it was perfect!  Ann is our hostess, and here's what she chose:

There was a super-fabby sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch this week, too; I flipped it to make it work better with my image:

And here we go:

I gave lots of stamps some love and ink on this one!!  My Chevy image (Unity) was stamped in Poppy Parade; the background (Gorgeous Grunge) was stamped repeatedly in Smoky Slate, and my sentiment (Hero Arts) was stamped in Memento Black.  I actually stamped the car image twice, once in Poppy and again in Slate and fussy cut them out, popping up the top one:

I used some scraps of Poppy Parade DSP for my vertical stripes, and some new CTMH sentiment for the inside; we have a friend who was just blindsided with a diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia, and has been in the hospital for about three weeks, so this is for him.

Remember, for our CAS challenges, less is better!  Simple images and lots of white space really make your CAS creation pop!  If you need a refresher on the CAS style, pop over to the Paper Players website! Meanwhile, you can check out what the DT made!  Hope to see you there!

Cooling off on a ride high in the sky!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB41 Fall Beauty

Hi everyone!  Praying that this Thursday finds you safe and sound, especially if you're in the path of Hurricane Michael!   Scary weather out there!  It's time for another Inspired By challenge, and Laurel is on a roll with these lovely fall inspirations!  I went clean and simple this week as I have lots going on!  I needed some masculine birthday cards and these fit the bill perfectly:

And here is the lovely prompt!  Aren't those little acorns cute?!

Growing up on a farm in PA named Maple Shade Farms, we did not have any nut trees, which meant NO acorns and NO squirrels!!  So when I went to college in East Orange, NJ, and saw all the squirrels in the park next to our dorm, running around collecting acorns, I was so excited!  I'd never seen squirrels up close!  I said to my roommates, "Look at all the squirrels!  They're so cute!" They looked at me as if I was NUTS!  I guess New Jersey has lots of oak trees, acorns and squirrels, and they'd seen plenty!  Anyway, I still think squirrels are cute!

I started with a card base of Soft Suede with a Whisper White mat that was stamped with a sentiment from Beautiful Day, then embossed with the Subtle embossing folder.  My DSP is from a couple of years ago, Into the Woods.  I added a couple of Kraft diecut leaves, sponged and embellished with some baker's twine:

I also used the sketch from CAS Colours and Sketches:

While I had my supplies out, I went ahead and made another one, this one with only one Crumb Cake leaf and a different sentiment from the same set:

I think these are great masculine designs!  I hope you'll get some fall inspiration from Laurel's prompt and play along with us at Inspired By this week!

Cassidy couldn't wait to show me her cool hairdo!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

ATCAS142 and HSS295 Rooted Birthday

Happy Monday peeps!  Boy, after the busy weekend we had, my mojo is in the TANK!  I cannot muster up any creativity today!  I squeaked out a couple of masculine cards for the Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch and the Addicted to CAS: Masculine challenge:

I still have lots of DSP from last year's catalog, so I pulled out this crackly-looking one (I am too lazy to look up the name of it!!) and stamped the tree from Rooted in Nature directly on top using Mossy Meadow ink and an Early Espresso marker for the trunk:

The flip side of the paper has monochromatic stripes, so I cut off the bottom one, which matches Soft Sea Foam almost perfectly, and stamped some leaves on top.  The sentiment is from Perennial Birthday, and if you look closely, you can see a little row of diecut dots above the Mossy Meadow ribbon; they're from the Swirly Snowflakes thinlets die...so cute!  I did another one, a little more "somber" using the Wood Textures DSP, same sentiment, same stamp, same ribbon, same die:

This one is mounted on a Mossy Meadow card.  Simple and easy...that's all I can seem to muster up today!

Speaking of trees, on Sunday after church, we went to Go Ape at Lums Pond, Delaware, which is a tree-top/ziplining "adventure"!  It was my birthday present from Dana and Wayne, and we took the "junior" course because Cassidy was with us, and us older folks couldn't handle the rope ladders, ziplines over the pond and Tarzan swings through the trees!  I can't figure out how to embed the videos of us ziplining here, but if you're on my FB page, you might be able to find them!  You will just have to be satisfied with some photos otherwise!  Here we all are at the beginning...happy, smiling, not sweating too much (it was HOT!):

We all had to wear harnesses, which are rather uncomfortable, and accentuate various parts of your body that you might not prefer to be accentuated, but so is everyone else...so we just dealt with it!  Here's Cassidy in hers:

Here I am, about 15 feet up in the air, crossing a wooden pathway...this one was easy!  And see what I mean about the accentuating?

Here are Cassidy and Dana on a different type of bridge; this one was much more challenging...the look on Cassidy's face pretty much says it all!  This was on a level 2, but we all made it through just fine!

They call this the "taco"...and believe me, you feel like a taco, trying to squeeze through the net!  Dana seemed to be having no trouble at all with it!

It ended with a little zip line ride, which we all did at least two or three times!  We were hot and sweaty and not quite as chipper at the end:

It was definitely fun and I think AUTUMN would be a good time to go, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS342 Country Road Birthday

Happy Friday, everyone!  My schedule has so radically changed with having Cassidy for the summer, my stamping and commenting time is really wonky!  I apologize for not getting around to give everyone my usual comments!  I even set my alarm for 5am so I could sneak down into my craft room to make this card, LOL!  I got some new goodies and just had to play with them, so I used Amy's FMS sketch for this week to get me started!

I never have enough masculine stamps or cards, so I was excited to see Country Road and Gallery Grunge in the new catalog; those are the new goodies I used on my card, along with some Wood Textures DSP:

It's pretty straightforward; the weathervane was stamped on the lighter woodgrain DSP, with the grass behind it; the sentiment strip has an image from Gallery Grunge stamped over the sentiment, as well as some Merry Merlot faceted gems attached:

I stamped the inside with the sentiment that comes with the Country Road set along with some of the wagon wheels ( I am thinking they look like lemon slices....maybe I could get double use from this image, LOL!):

Now I have another masculine card to add to my stash!

Cassidy goes to karate two mornings a week while school is out...she's getting into it!

Lots of noise and action!  Thanks for popping in today and have a blessed weekend ahead!

AYSI177 Best Wishes Deer

Happy Friday, peeps!  Another gray day here, I feel like I am getting moldy, LOL!  It's time for another As You See It challenge, and it's just in time for Father's Day:

No automatic alt text available.

I chose not to make mine a Father's Day card but a birthday card instead, as I send out birthday cards to all the adults in my church, and I am always needing masculine ones!  So here we go:

When I saw all the elements in the challenge, I felt a little panicky, but once I found this awesome deer in a package of Christmas diecuts from Simple Stories, it all fell together quickly!  The square card is Chocolate Chip and I added a layer of Dapper Denim Color Theory DSP, stamped with some pines from Lovely as a Tree.  I diecut the layer as well as my sentiment tag, with some MFT Wonky Stitched dies:

I also stamped the inside with the same fir tree image and added a birthday sentiment.  Both sentiments are from past Paper Pumpkin kits.  All in all, this card went together in a jiffy!

I hope you'll play along with us too!  Put on your creative thinking hat to see how you can incorporate all those elements into your card!  The DT has some amazing samples to show you as well!  Check them all out at the As You See It blog!

Last weekend the family went to a horse race...it was a sunny day with lots of activity...and Cassidy just couldn't stay awake for the ride home in the jeep:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

SIP102 Masculine Road Trip

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  It's time for another Stamp Ink Paper challenge, and this week, our theme is "masculine"...and we always need masculine cards, right?  Especially with Father's Day coming up!

No automatic alt text available.

I pulled out one of my favorite vintage Artistic Outpost sets, Route 66, to make another monochromatic card...not quite sure why I am gravitating towards them lately!  Anyway, here we go:

I used the As You See It sketch:

and my faVery Vanilla, Soft Suede and Sahara Sand for my colors.  I fussy-cut the motorcycle and popped it up against my square panel, then randomly stamped several of the images from the same set, along with a grid background stamp, for my mat:

I stamped an image from Timeless Textures on the banner, and on the inside, I used a sentiment from a past Paper Pumpkin set and stamped a cactus from the same Artistic Outpost set:

The design team came up with some really cool samples...be sure to check them out at Stamp Ink Paper!

Yesterday morning I came downstairs to hear Cassidy's shower running and music BLARING (pardon the photo of our john!!!):

Ever since she started taking showers, she LOVES to sing in the shower.....it's the funniest thing ever!  Nobody else in the family sings in the shower!  She recently went to a KidzBop concert and we found a CD at the library, so she plays it while she is in the shower!  We had to warn her about touching the electric wire when she was wet....but other than that, she thoroughly enjoyed her music!

MTS166 and AYSI144

Hi everyone!  Hope you had a fabulous weekend!  I've got some masculine cards for you today...I am meeting with five lovely ladies this morning to do some stamping and I wanted to show them some cards using the Urban Underground Specialty DSP!  The first uses the Match the Sketch sketch:

I used some of the cool silver and black hexagon DSP with silver foil and Smoky Slate cardstocks, along with Guy Greetings for the first card:

It's a little easier to see the foil here....I stamped "DAD" with Stazon ink and stamped the other images with Basic Black and fussy -cut them out.

I created my own background by stamping the sentiment on the angle repeatedly all over the Smoky Slate cardstock, and I added some Timeless Textures images as well!

The second one incorporates the As You See It Sketch:

and some other papers from the same DSP set:

The top strip also has silver foil x's on it; the central panel is regular DSP and I stamped the birthday sentiment from February's Paper Pumpkin kit directly onto it and added some of the dot elements as well:

The final embellishment is some silver wire thread and a little "bolt"!  Since the panel is on an angle, it was a little tricky to keep the wire from slipping.  I solved the problem by cutting a wee little slit on each side of my card and nestling the wire in the slit.  Worked like a charm!

Thanks for popping in today!!!  Be sure to come back tomorrow for the latest Stamp Ink Paper challenge, too!

A little Duplo play!

Have a splendid day!
