IB53 Mr Snowman

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Time for another cute Inspired By challenge!  The snowman on this card is the closest we've gotten to snow in a long time....just lots and lots of rain in our neck of the woods!  Here ya go:

And here's Laurel's fun prompt:

My card is a birthday card for someone special, and I used an old as well as a new set!  The old set is Snow Place, stamped in Memento Black, Balmy Blue and Poppy Parade, and the new set is a birthday set called Itty Bitty Birthdays!  I created a little frame to match the snowman's scarf from above, then cut it out with the new Stitched Rectangle dies - love them, they have stitching on both the inside and outside of the frame!  I added my snowman, altering the Santa hat a bit, gave him a colorful scarf, and mounted it on a snowy background along with a matted sentiment:

On the inside, I took the center part of the frame and used it as a background for some more birthday sentiments, also cut with the new rectangle dies:

I just love the little smile on this snowman and I hope it brings a smile to the recipient as well!  Hope you'll play along with us this week...we have some new designers at the IB blog...be sure to go check them out and give them some love AND show us what you create as well!! Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Cassidy got some cousin time with Zion:

and Titus!  She was in her babysitting glory!

MTS146 and MM218 Mad for Plaid

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I had a relaxing day yesterday, rested up and got a wee bit of stamping in!  I made another Christmas card using the Match the Sketch sketch and the "Plaid" prompt from Merry Monday:

Carta Bella's Christmas Delivery 6x6 pad has great plaids, so I pulled out three coordinating ones and went to work with the little snowman from Snow Place:

I embossed the card front with a Darice snowflake EF and added a sentiment from Oh What Fun.  Isn't he a cutie?

I promised some pictures from our church's Operation Christmas Child Shoebox event; here, Cassidy is helping package up some toothpaste and toothbrushes:

And now she's ready to fill one of the shoeboxes; we have a Dansko outlet near our home and they very generously donated 36 empty shoeboxes!!

All done and almost ready to go!

Daddy very patiently helped her write a little note to tuck inside so the recipient knows from where and whom it came!  All together, we filled 75 boxes!

Thanks for popping in today!  Have a blessed one!

AYSI140 and JB Snow Trio for Christmas

Hi everyone!  Wow, it's the first of August already!  The summer is flying by!  I tried to cool off yesterday by stamping some little snow characters!  I used the As You See It sketch challenge:

AYSIChallenge140

as well as the Jingle Belles challenge "We Three Kings"--use something in threes!  I LOVE my threes!  I pulled out Snow Place and stamped the two snowman and penguin on some white scraps, punched them out, and gave them some accessories:

I mounted them on a Soft Sky card base on which I had stamped some white snowflakes; the DSP is from this year's This Christmas Specialty DSP (green) and some retired Polka Dot Parade (red).  And of course I had to give them some "snow" glitter:

The sentiment is from a new set called Oh, What Fun, and it was stamped on a stitched tag (Simon Says Stamp (Bundle of Stitched Shapes) and accented with some red ribbon!  Nice to have another card for my December stash!

Cassidy is obsessed with her two front teeth....they're loose but not ready to come out yet!  A friend at church told her she needed to eat lots of corn on the cob and that would help loosen them up, so she took her advice....but no progress yet, LOL!

And a couple more stunning birthday cards....this one is from Broni!  I must ask her how she achieved that awesome watercoloring!

And this gorgeous creation is from my sweet friend Sandy:

Have a blessed day!

Merry and Bright in Dapper Denim

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  A quick CAS card today that didn't quite turn out how I had planned...I am finding that photopolymer stamps sometimes don't stamp as cleanly with craft ink when you want to do heat-embossing.  So I will say that this card was a learning process!  It's for two challenges:

The sketch at Can You Case It:

Sketch2015-001

As well as the Just Add Ink challenge #311, which is masking!  So here we go:

I began by masking off the upper and lower portions of my card with post-it notes, then heat-embossing the snowflakes from Snow Place in Craft White ink and white embossing powder.  I stamped a Paper Pumpkin sentiment in Memento Black, then used the new In Color, Dapper Denim, to sponge within the masked area.  I love my blues, and I think this will be a great color!  I tried to darken the edges a little and leave the inside area lighter.  As you can see, the snowflakes are not very crisp and clear:

Next time I will use a traditional rubber stamp.  The inside was stamped with the same color, same Paper Pumpkin set, but I did add "wishing you" and another snowflake from a Lil'Inker set (can't remember the name!)...

And this shade sort of reminds me of these big blue eyes!

Thanks for popping by today!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, everyone!  I wish you all a happy, healthy Christ-filled day!  HIS gift is the best gift of all!  We plan to spend the next two days with family, eating, playing games and celebrating all the blessings the Lord has given us over the past year!

Every year, I make Cassidy a handmade Christmas ornament.  Since I've learned to knit, this year, she got a little Santa hat:

complete with sequins and snowflakes around the brim!  And I had to make a special package for it; I hadn't used the Snow Place stamp set very often this season, so I thought she would like this wee little snowman outside his little green Curvy Keepsake box, wearing his own Santa hat:

My friend Martha gave me a lovely assortment of sturdy DSPs and they made wonderful boxes!!!

And here are a couple of other crafty things I knitted this year, using the same yarn as Cassidy's Santa hat (forgive me if I showed these before, but I don't think I did):

And finally, my little helper cracking a dozen eggs, getting ready to make my Christmas morning casserole!  One down, eleven to go!

Have a wonderful day!

Snow Place Like Home

DSCF2398

Happy Monday, peeps!  I have a cute little Christmas card today, although I hesitate to share it because it features the Sleigh Ride framelits, and of course, they are on backorder at SU because of their popularity!  Hopefully everyone will get theirs before the holidays, because they do make super cute cards!

I started with a Soft Sky base and embossed another SS panel with the Softly Falling EF, then added a line of diecut trees and a line of diecut houses:

I colored in the trees and houses with markers:

I even added some “snow” to the trees with a white gel pen:

I finished it with a sentiment from Snow Place, stamped in Rose Red….does anyone use Rose Red anymore?  Such a pretty color with Soft Sky!  And I resisted adding glitter, because I thought it looked pretty just the way it was!  Thanks for visiting today!

Cassidy received a sweet little stuffed animal from our 8-year-old neighbor, Gloria, so I suggested that she stamp her a thank you card:

She stamped the scottie dog from Hey, Girl and colored it in with markers, adding a “thanks”, balloon and some grass (and a glimmer brad!):

Then I told her how to spell what she wanted to say!

We’re working on our letters and now she knows a wee bit of punctuation, too!
Enjoy your day!
