Jar of Sunflowers Minus the Jar

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Hope you're all doing well and have something fun planned this weekend!  I have neglected the Jar of Flowers stamp set and wanted to create a card for a customer since she just purchased it!  I thought I would not  use the jar stamp itself, instead just using the image peeking out from behind some pretty DSP:

I used the sketch only from this week's Fusion challenge, as well as the colors from Color Hue:

I stamped the flowers in Saddle Brown Stazon ink so I could watercolor them with reinker inks.  I used Thick Very Vanilla cardstock for the card since it is a little more able to accept watercolor than regular weight cardstock.  I added a few speckles, and a scalloped border using some Crushed Curry Rustic Harvest DSP:

Then finished it off with a little Soft Suede DSP banner and some Linen Thread.  The sentiment is from Quiet Meadow.  You can't see it, but the centers of the flowers have also been accented with Wink of Stella!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

So I convinced Dana to enter some of her crocheted projects at the fair this last week and we were both thrilled that she won ribbons for all five entries! (Forgive the glare; they exhibit everything under heavy plastic!)  This baby blanket won a first ribbon:

As did this hat and scarf set; don't you love that furry pompom?

This baby blanket won a third:

And so did this fun hat!

She also won a second for a pretty cowl, but I forgot to take a picture of that one!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI276 Sunny Lemonade

Happy Friday, peeps!  Happy weekend!  Time for a new As You See It challenge, and I love this one!  Check it out:

Normally, I would have gone for COFFEE, but that refreshing picture challenged me to go for something different!  Although I have lamented that I have almost NO fruit stamps, I did find a lemon one in the pile of stamps my friend gifted me!  So here we go:

I used the retired Jar of Love stamp set to create my "glass" and some vellum to create the lemonade.  You can't see it in the photo, but after coloring the back of the vellum with a Blend, I covered the front with Wink of Stella!  It looks so "refreshing"!  I added a straw from Jar of Flowers and the lemon is from an old SAB set called A Happy Thing.  I fussy cut it out after coloring it with some reinkers, then adhered it to a plaid DSP background:

And since nothing is sunnier than a pretty yellow lemon and some fresh lemonade, I added a sentiment from the retired Sunny Sentiments:

This was a fun card to create!  I am going to leave the inside blank and when the occasion arises to use it, I'll stamp something then!  And I am going to enter this in the current Krafty Chicks challenge, which is to stamp something!

I hope you'll find something that inspires you this week when you peruse our challenge photo!  Remember, it doesn't have to be lemonade, it can be any beverage!  The design team has some really fun, cute samples, so be sure to check them out at the AYSI blog, then share yours as well!  Thanks for visiting today!

TCC174 Spring Flowers

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  It's time for another beautiful Card Concept challenge, where you get to tell us the "card concept" you use to create your card!  Here's the prompt that Julie has for us this week:

Isn't this a pretty garden?  And house?  Although it would take a lot of nerve for me to have a pink door, LOL!  But in the stamping world, we can have anything we want!  I didn't do a pink door, but I did use Magenta Madness as a focal point for my Clean and Layered card, so here we go:

I just used the Jar of Flowers last week, but what a surprise, it worked for my card today as well!  I didn't quite know what ink to use for stamping the outline, as I did not want black, but I found one of my distress inks worked very well with watercoloring....I tend to forget that I have a few of those inks!  This one happened to be Weathered Wood, which is a sort of blue tone, and it worked nicely with the palette of the challenge.

I used Magenta Madness, Highland Heather, Balmy Blue, Soft Seafoam and Old Olive for my flowers, fussy cutting them out after watercoloring them on watercolor paper.  I also watercolored the stems, and hid the seam under the sentiment from Eden's Garden.  My Magenta panel was embossed with the new Fern EF, and the white panel was embossed with Timeworn Type.  The card base is the retired Almost Amethyst, which seemed to work a little better than the darker purple shades we have now.  On the inside, I stamped a verse from Our Daily Bread Designs:

For embellishments, I added some Polished Pink Open Weave ribbon and a sprinkling of sequins from my stash.  I also used the "CASE the Designer" challenge from Global Design Project:

Sadly, this card will be going to Julie, the creative genius behind The Card Concept, as she lost her dear husband earlier this week after a very long illness.  I hope it brings her comfort!  Thanks for visiting today....I hope you'll play along with us and share your creation, and its concept, with us at The Card Concept!  And I thought I'd share a floral arrangment left from the funeral at our church on Sunday, as well as some more flowers from the conservatory at Longwood; their colors match the prompt so well, I just had to share!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TMS653 Sorbet Sunflower

Happy Wednesday, peeps! My card today is bright, you'd better put on your sunglasses!  It uses one of SU's new In Colors, Sweet Sorbet!  I paired it with Celebrate Sunflowers and Jar of Flowers for a fun thank you card for one of my customers!  Here we go:

I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches:

I started with some new Sweet Sorbet DSP, cutting out a section with a Stitched Rectangle die, then flipping over the cut-out piece and cutting it with the next smaller size down die.  I stamped the jar from Jar of Flowers in Pool Party, then added the smaller sunflower stamped in Sweet Sorbet and Soft Succulent (for the leaves).  I colored in each section with a blender pen, then mounted them on a circle that was embossed with the Dots EF:

I added a sentiment from Ornate Thanks, a wee bit of Soft Succulent ribbon and some In Color Matte Dots to finish it off!  I think it's fun to use a floral image in a different color than expected!  I am trying to get used to the new colors....they're a little intense for me, but I am sure I will warm up to them.  Thanks for visiting today!

Can't ignore Dana and Wayne....although it looks like Wayne has a big pirate's earring, it's really his sunglasses strap, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CASC&S426 Smile

Hey there, peeps!  Wow, it's the last day of June!  That month whizzed by for sure!  My friend and I are hitting the pool this afternoon to try to stay cool, so this will be quick!  The CAS Colours and Sketches challenge has a color palette AND a sketch to use this week:

I am not sure just how clean my card is, but I did have fun creating it since these peachy hues are some of my favorites!!  Since all the colors are retired, I did use a little creative license and substituted a couple of them....I'll show you where:

My image is one of the florals from Jar of Flowers; I was going to add the jar below the image but in the end, just left it alone.  I stamped it in Sahara Sand, then colored it with Blends of Pink Pirouette, Pale Papaya, Ivory and Cajun Craze:

I added a little interest to the background by masking my image and stamping the word collage from Quiet Moments in Pink Pirouette ink, then added the "smile" from Lovely You.  I couldn't find any Tangerine Tango in my stash, so I substituted with Tangelo Twist.  I put it on a Pale Papaya card base (instead of Peach Parfait) which was embossed with Tasteful Textile embossing folder, and the banner was embossed with the Checks mini embossing folder.  I think this could be used for any number of occasions, so I left the inside blank!  Thanks for popping in today!

And since I was working with peachy hues, I thought I would share a shot of a rose that I saw at Longwood last week.  It was almost past its prime, but it was still beautiful!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CTS385 Birthday for Cassidy

It is really hard to wrap my head around the fact that my granddaughter will be TEN on Monday!  Where did those years go?  Last year she decided she did not like girly, frilly things--no pinks, no lace, no sparkle---boohoo.  Definitely a tomboy!  SO, for her card this year, I pulled out SU's Camouflage background stamp (cuz she loves camo!) and used the simple sketch from CTS for her birthday card!  First, the card:

This went together in a snap...I stamped the camo in Soft Seafoam on Sahara Sand, and the sentiments from A Grand Kid were stamped in Pear Pizzazz and diecut with a zig-zag circle die.  I didn't quite space the sentiments the way I wanted, so I added the little diagonal strip from Jar of Flowers between the two:

A couple more cute sentiments (and another diagonal strip to pull it all together) on the inside, and it was done, ready for ten $1 bills to go inside!

And here's the sketch from CTS:

She's having a little pizza and pool party today---not many kids are allowed to come, so it will be small, but she'll still have fun!  Thanks for popping in! And no pictures today but hopefully I will get some from the party!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI232 Rustic Sunflowers

Hi there, everyone!  Today we have a new As You See It challenge, and it's a wonderful color challenge!  Check out this lovely inspiration:

Image may contain: text that says '08.14.20 Bermuda Bay Cajun Craze Crushed Curry Whisper White As You See l CHALLENGE #232'

I knew just what I was going to use for this challenge as soon as I saw it!  I pulled out the Jar of Flowers stamp set and inked up the sunflowers in brown Stazon ink (which is FINALLY available!) and went to work:

After watercoloring it with ink and an aquapainter, I fussy-cut it out and mounted it on a white panel that had been embossed with the Tin Tile EF and layered on a piece of Gilded Autumn Specialty DSP and a Crushed Curry mat:

The Gilded Autumn paper has some lovely shimmery accents so I added some new Metallic Ribbon to coordinate.  And I added a sentiment from Here's a Card, stamped in Cajun Craze and accented with a little flourish from Banner Year, diecut with a die from Tasteful Labels:

The base of the card is Bermuda Bay, and before running in through the Pinewood Planks embossing folder, I inked the inside surface of the folder with Smoky Slate ink.  I love the vintage look it created!  And the sketch I used is from Try Stampin on Tuesday:

I think this photo inspiration is a great segue to making some lovely fall creations...it certainly inspired me, I hope it does you too!  Can't wait to see what you create...share them with us at As You See It!  Thanks for popping in!

I have a few more birthday cards that came in the mail:

From Ann:

From Shawn, along with the back of her envelope (she knows my rebellious nature!!!):

From Darlene:

and here's how it folds...I love this so much, I've already made a couple myself!

and all the way from Germany, from my friend Claudia:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Saturday Selections

Hi everyone!  A lazy Saturday here in PA...more rain and clouds!  Hopefully I'll be able to get into my stamp room a bit today!  Meanwhile, I wanted to share just a couple of cards I made recently using some new as well as older products!  My first one uses Jar of Flowers, stamped in Stazon ink and watercolored:

After watercoloring the image, I fussy-cut it and layered it on a Bird Ballad panel that had an opening cut with the Nested Labels die.  I put some Soft Seafoam DSP under it and added a little scalloped trim as well as a bow made from the new Flowers for Every Season Combo Pack:

The sentiment, stamped in Poppy Parade, is from Celebrate Sunflowers, and I stamped and colored another tulip from the bouquet to accent it:

My next card uses the Sunflower dies and Buffalo Check background stamp to create a whimsical sunflower:

I diecut the top layer with Crumb Cake cardstock, then stamped a piece of Mango Melody with the Buffalo Check stamp in Pumpkin Pie, then diecut it with the bottom layer.  Crushed Curry created the center, and I layered it on a panel of Whisper White, embossed with the Subtle EF, and another layer of Crumb Cake.  I layered it on a card base of Mango Melody embossed with the Tin Tile EF:

A wee bit of Terracotta Tile ribbon and a sentiment from Free as a Bird finished it off!  Thanks for popping in today!  Be sure to come back tomorrow for a new Paper Players challenge too!

We lost another tree yesterday...technically, it's on my SIL's property, right at the edge of ours.  The tree top broke and split the small tree right down the middle:

It straddled the stream but didn't really damage anything!  Now John will have another project!

And while I had the camera out in the rain, I snapped a few of my Japanese iris:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
