PP453 Back to School

Hi everyone!  It's time for another Paper Players sketch, and Claire is our hostess today!  If any of you know Claire, she used to be a teacher, so this is quite apropos for her as well as this time of the year!!  And I am willing to bet that her students LOVED her--she has the perfect personality to teach those little ones!

I was pretty excited about this challenge too, because it gave me a chance to break out my new set, Check You Out!  It's perfect for the challenge!  I paired it with some school-themed papers from a few years back:

I started with the sketch from Try Stampin On Tuesday:

My bottom mat was some computer paper I stamped with the Writing Notes stamp in Balmy Blue and diecut with a Stitched Shapes square; the other elements were simply stamped in primary colors and fussy-cut:

The sentiment was punched out with a circle punch and backed with a scalloped circle mat.  On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Seaside Notions, which has a really nice variety, the heart from the Check You Out set, and a pencil from It Starts With Art, stamped in Crumb Cake and colored with SU markers:

Cassidy will be nine in a couple of weeks, and will start fourth grade at a new-to-her school closer to home, so I will not be getting her on and off the bus any longer.  Although it's sad for me, because I won't see her as much, I know it will be good for her.  So this will be for her on her first day school; she loves getting mail, and hopefully she'll enjoy opening it!

SO....what will you create for this challenge?  I hope you'll check out all the DT samples on the PP blog, or you can check them out here:

Then share yours with us too!  Thanks for popping in today!

Last week, Cassidy attended a small science camp at our library put on by Glaxo Smith Kline; I didn't get many pictures, but this particular experiment had the kids mushing up Rice Chex with water in a baggie (representing food in one's stomach):

Then putting it into a nylon stocking and squeezing it along the leg, watching what oozed out, (which represented the intestines and how your body gets its nutrients):

Her partner was a boy from karate, so they already knew each other....but it was interesting hearing all the comments, especially from the boys (as you can imagine!).  Next week she will be attending an animal science camp at the University of Delaware, so that should be fun as well!  Can't wait to hear what she has to say about that!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB83 At The Beach

Hi peeps!  Happy August!  Woohoo...vacation is only a few weeks away!  It's time for another Inspired By challenge, and Laurel has another beachy theme for us!  First, a disclaimer about the sequins on my card...they are NOT purple and green, as they look in the photograph!  Gee whizzies, I couldn't get them to photograph correctly for anything, so you'll just have to take my word for it!  And here we go:

And here is her pretty inspiration:

I wanted to use current SU products for my card, as I am sending this to a new recruit!  I stamped some images from Seaside Notions on Whisper White and Very Vanilla cardstocks in Gray Granite inks, then loosely colored them in with an aquapainter and fussy-cut them out.  I masked off the top and bottom parts of the sentiment from Rooted in Nature, and stamped it in Pool Party and strung it on some Linen Thread.  I mounted it on a Thick Very Vanilla card base that was embossed with the Subtle Embossing folder:

My sketch is from Hand-Stamped Sentiments, and I used some designer paper for my elements, adding the little "wave" diecut from Arts and Crafts:

As I said, I added some sequins, some Metallic Pearls, and I did stamp a few little speckles to imitate "sand"!!  On the inside, I added a fun sentiment from Here's a Card, along with another seashell:

Beautiful colors and a beautiful image!  I wish that Jar of Love was still current, it would have been fun to use that one....maybe someone will!  Can't wait to see what you come up with...share it with us at Inspired By!  Thanks for popping in today!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Mosaic Seahorse

Happy Monday, peeps!  No challenges today, but I thought I'd share a card I made recently to highlight some new products:  the In Color Terracotta Tile, Seaside Notions, and the beautiful Mosaic Mood Specialty DSP.  So here we go:

I began by trimming a piece of the Mosaic Mood DSP along the tile lines; these papers are clear-embossed on one side, very, very pretty!  To keep with the embossed look, I stamped the seahorse in Terracotta Tile using my Stamparatus, then cleaned the stamp, keeping it in the same position, and reinked it several times with Versamark ink.  Once I sprinkled it with clear embossing powder, heated it and fussy-cut it out, I was ready to color it with an aquapainter and some ink!  I added a sentiment from the same set, framed in a Stitched Rectangle die and adhered it atop a lightly-stamped coral image:

Perennial Birthday provided the inside sentiment:

No pix today, gotta run!  I have stamping girls coming soon, and I can't wait to get inky with them!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TSOT414 Seaside Sympathy

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Sadly, I needed a sympathy card this week, and the Try Stampin on Tuesday challenge had a nice sketch:

Originally, I had different papers and colors put together for this, but when I started stamping the shells from Seaside Notions, I went in a different direction, choosing Petal Pink and Crumb Cake:

I stamped the shells and used a sponge dauber to color each one lightly (easy to do!) and fussy-cut them, layering them on a stitched square on which was stamped the coral and the little speckles, then I added a sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings:

I saved the ribbon from the gift my friend Wendy made and used it for a little accent, along with a wee piece of burlap ribbon and some metallic pearls:

I forgot to photograph the inside, but I used a sentiment from the new Here's A Card; it has lots of nice ones to choose from!

Thanks for popping in today....if you're having a heat wave like we are, relax and drink lots of water, and stay COOL!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

IB77 Bright and Cheery

Hi everyone!  Yay, it's Thursday...the weekend is almost upon us, and it's time for another Inspired By challenge!  I got some new goodies from the SU catalog and I put them right to work:

So what was my inspiration?  Here we go:

Aren't they some bright, fun colors?!  I wanted to use only SU products, as this card is going to a fellow demonstrator, so I used Granny Apple Green and Coastal Cabana with the new set Seaside Notions!  It has lots of beachy images along with some nice sentiments as well!  I coated my shells with Wink of Stella, and it gives it such a pretty shine!

I used some DSPs in my colors of choice, and added some sequins and underwater greenery from the Smooth Sailing Dies, which worked perfectly with my beach theme!

The DT has outdone themselves using these beautiful bright hues....why don't you stamp something with them too, and share your creation with us at Inspired By?

Before running through the sprinkler, the kids helped Grampy with a major branch-removal event around the property.  Things had really gotten out of hand, good thing Grampy had that new tractor to haul all the branches away...not to mention a little help from Cassidy and Lee....I mean little, too....like one or two branches, LOL!

Thanks for popping in today---enjoy your day and be blessed!
