TSOT and SIP Birthday for a Friend

Hi everyone! I have a birthday card to share today, using two challenges; the Try Stampin On Tuesday sketch and the Stamp Ink Paper challenge of Bring on the Cake!

So here we go:

I found these papers in a stash that my sweet friend Teri sent me, and with the cupcakes on one of them, they seemed a natural for the challenge!  I used a So Saffron card base, dry embossing it with a large polka dot EF, and a Spellbinder's Small Die of the Month die for the birthday sentiment.  The optional theme at TSOT is also "favorite patterns", so these definitely fit the bill!

I did add a little glimmer dot "cherry", which I might go back and re-color with my SU Blend to make it more red than pink!

So happy that you popped in today!

And speaking of cupcakes, here's Cassidy chowing down at a recent birthday party....gross, it's BLUE!!!

 Enjoy today and be blessed!

Retro Rubber Challenge 105 Wish Big

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I hope you had a nice weekend....Monday sort of got away from me, but it's okay and I am back with our latest Retro Rubber sketch challenge!  Check it out:

No photo description available.

Yep, we are pairing with Try Stamping on Tuesday this week!  How fun is that?!  Be sure to check out what those talented stampers on their design team created!  They've used some of their well-loved "oldie" stamps too!

I am not quite sure why, but my last two RR challenge submissions have been cowboy-themed!!  What's up with that?!  I do like these types of cards for guys, so I guess that's my reasoning!  This card uses a set from 2010 called Out West...I am so glad I kept it!  Here we go:

I stamped my cowboy in Early Espresso ink on some burlap-printed paper from Authentique, diecut him with a stitched die and added a Poppy Parade scalloped mat; the sentiment from A Dozen Thoughts (2013) was stamped the same way:

I added three banners and adorned them with some enamel dots:

And on the inside of the Naturals White card, I stamped a birthday sentiment from a past Paper Pumpkin set as well as some of the other elements from the Out West set:

Yee haw!  I had a lot of fun making this card and it's already out in the mail for its intended recipient!!  I hope you'll play along with our sketch this week...I just love sketches, don't you?  Be sure to use stamps that are at least one year old and tell us how old they are too!  Can't wait to see what you share at the RetroRubber blog!

I haven't shared a picture of Eden lately...here she is, just chillin' with her favorite pillow!  She's obviously on trend, it has SUCCULENTS on it, LOL!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

One Sheet Wonder Sympathy

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Sadly, our family needed two sympathy cards this week.  The In(k)Spire Me challenge had some pretty colors in it:

I decided to make three cards by using the "one-sheet wonder" technique with the challenge colors, doing some random stamping with various floral images on a half-sheet of Whisper White cardstock.  I cut it into two sheets that are 3 1/4" wide and added a piece of Animal Expedition DSP to follow the CAS(E) This Sketch sketch for this week:

So here we go:

I added a piece of silver ribbon and a silver foil scalloped mat under the sentiment from Flourishing Phrases stamped in Balmy Blue:

The remaining piece of stamped cardstock was matted with Soft Sea Foam, and placed atop a piece of embossed Balmy Blue that I already had in my stash! They were both just the right size for the Try Stampin on Tuesday sketch:

And here's the final product:

I diecut a piece of Whisper White with a Stitched Label die and added a sentiment from the same set, then I colored some pearls with a silver Zig Painty Pen to add a little silver accent, and although it's hard to see, a little panel of silver foil along the left side of the stamped piece:

Thanks for popping in today!

Because of the snowstorm, Cassidy spent the night with us on Thursday and had a two-hour delay on Friday, which was John's birthday.  She hid his gift (in his bedroom closet) and wanted to give him clues to help lead him to it, sort of like a scavenger hunt!

He was able to follow the clues from room to room:

upstairs:

downstairs:

and back upstairs where he finally found it!

She did a great job and it was a lot of fun!  Tonight we'll go out to dinner for a little more fun!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!  And be sure to come back tomorrow for a new Paper Players challenge!

TSOT381 Trick or Treat

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I have a little Halloween card for you today; I broke into some new goodies I got recently:

As I was writing this up, I realized that I didn't like the Gray Granite background too much....but it's done and I'm going with it, LOL!  Anyway, I used the sketch from Try Stampin On Tuesday:

I used some images and sentiments from Close to My Heart's Hello Pumpkin, along with an assortment of Halloween papers.  I just love the details on this little jack!  I added some glimmer paper, glimmer baker's twine and enamel dots:

And isn't this a fun sentiment for the inside?

We went to an Amish farm recently to get a few pumpkins; there were some pigs in the field next to the barn and Cassidy thought they were "cute"!

Hmmmm...I guess you might consider them cute, but I would say they were dirty and dusty before I would say they were cute!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TSOT358 and SIP139 Happy Anniversary

Hey peeps!  Sorry this is a little later than normal...I have managed to avoid catching a cold all winter long and I am afraid it's my turn!  Just sort of lazing on the couch today, taking it easy.  I roused myself to make a card with the Try Stampin' On Tuesday sketch and the ribbon theme from Stamp Ink Paper:

The optional theme for TSOT was Flower Power, so I pulled out my neglected Beautiful Bouquet and three ink colors:

I stamped each of the flowers on Very Vanilla cardstock in Crushed Curry, Flirty Flamingo and Blushing Bride, then cut them out with the matching dies.  I swooshed some ink and water in the same colors on some scraps of VV cardstock and cut them out with a Stitched Shape circle die.  I added some speckles with Itty Bitty Backgrounds and mounted the florals on with a dimensional.  Finally I added a matching scallop layer and mounted them all on a Very Vanilla panel that was embossed with the Quilt Top embossing folder:

I stamped the sentiment with Flirty Flamingo on a scrap of VV and used one of the square Stitched Shape dies to cut and emboss it, and added my little snippet of ribbon in Powder Pink, below it:

Since the embossing causes the cardstock to become a bit flimsy, I mounted it on a base of thick Very Vanilla cardstock; that really helps give  a "firm foundation" for the embossing...and we all need a firm foundation!!  Thanks for popping in today!

Ice cream plays an important part in the Hendrickson household!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

More Butterflies!

Happy Thursday, everyone!  Doesn't it feel like Tuesday?  I'm all messed up with the holiday being in the middle of the week!  I haven't played with the Try Stampin' On Tuesday sketch for a while, so I thought I would use it with a butterfly image from Tim Holtz.  I must have butterflies on the brain!  So here's the sketch:

And here we go:

I stamped the butterflies in Gold Encore ink and heat embossed them with gold embossing powder. Then I added a little wash of Soft Sky behind:

That way, I could use this gorgeous Bundle of Love Specialty DSP!  One side of the paper is gold foil, the other is Soft Sky.  I added some pearls, a border of gold foil diecut with a stitched Pretty Pink Posh die, a Papertrey butterfly and a Soft Sky stitched circle:

I added a birthday sentiment inside, as I seem to need lots of birthday cards this month!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

After a game of Sorry, Cassidy is still lining things up!!

TSOT311 and SUO169 A Lot of Green

Happy Friday, peeps!  I rarely make St Patrick's Day cards, but when I saw the SU Only Challenge this week, which is "Celebrating Green", as well as the Try Stampin' On Tuesday sketch with the option of plaid, I just had to pull out this golden oldie stamp set, Gift Givers!  So here's the sketch:

And here's my card!

I had already chosen the green plaid paper from the Warmth & Cheer pad before I even saw the plaid challenge!  I stamped my little leprechaun on some watercolor paper and colored him in with an aquapainter and inks:

And how cool is it that our stitched ovals fit the sentiments from Teeny Tiny Wishes?!  I stamped, punched and diecut this sentiment for the inside:

I also added some embossing with the Cable Knit EF, some Gumball Green stitched ribbon, and a couple of mats in Garden Green and Basic Black!  I had fun making this one!  Thanks for stopping by!

My nephew Tim stopped by earlier in the week to give us an estimate on some work he may be doing for us; while he was taking measurements, Cassidy decided to draw his picture on the driveway:

'

We liked how his hair and his beard sort of encircled his head!  But the funniest part was when Uncle Timmy actually got down on the ground to compare his likeness!  Not bad! I think his legs might be a little too scrawny, though!

Enjoy the blessings of the day!
