IB292 Surfin Summer

Happy Saturday, everyone! Hope you have something fun planned this weekend!  I loved the inspiration photo at Inspired By this week:

Laurel always comes up with the most fun ideas!  I don't have any oars in my vast array of stamps, but I do have some surfboards:

To achieve a weathered look, I stamped the surfboards from Pretty Pink Posh on some white woodgrain-printed paper, then loosely watercolored them, adding some shading of Smoky Slate here and there.  I stamped and diecut a sentiment from the same set, then mounted everything on a panel of Lost Lagoon that was embossed with the Pinewood Plank embossing folder.  Before embossing, I swiped a Craft White ink pad on the raised inside portion of the EF and I love the effect it created!

The Many Mates set was on my desk, so I stamped it on the inside, along with a little solid oval and some more surfboards:

I love this summery vibe!

On Thursday, I went to the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community where Dana works (in billing, not nursing) and had a fun little stamp class for eight of the residents!  My friend and downline Sheilah went to help me and we all fun!

These ladies took to stamping like a duck to water...and I'll be back there in July to have some more fun!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

TSOT639 A Bright Get Well

ooHappy Wednesday, peeps!  Brrrr! It's COLD here in SE PA!  I have a hot pink card that should warm us up today! It uses the sketch from Try A Sketch on Tuesday:

I love this sketch because I love things in THREES!! Woohoo!  So here we go:

I wanted something bright for my friend so I pulled out some retired Magenta Madness cardstock; I thought some of the black and white prints from the Zoo Crew DSP and made some banners.  I attached them to my card front, which I had embossed with the Starry embossing folder.  I made a horizontal banner on which I stamped my sentiment, then added a white and Magenta Madness glimmer star.  I diecut four tiny black stars....the tiniest die I think I have in my inventory, to embellish the top right corner as well as the magenta star:

I added the inside star and another one floating around on my desk on the inside for fun:

I love this sketch...it's a keeper!

Dana is not much of a baker, she admits that, but wanted to make Wayne a cake for his birthday.  Unfortunately, she didn't have all the ingredients she needed, so she made him brownies, and made homemade peanut butter icing to go on top.  Since he loves those peanut blossom cookies, she decorated his cake with Hershey's kisses:

It was also our 25th wedding anniversary yesterday....here's John's cute decor that greeted me first thing in the morning....the plant was already there, he just did the "decor" and cards!

He's such a sweetie! Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

FF0135 It's Your Day

Happy Thursday, peeps!  This will be short and sweet as my allergies are ROARING and I am miserable! Luckily, I have another masculine card from my recent stamp camp and it fits the challenge at Festive Friday:

I've got blue, brads, masculine, and sports on my sailboat card:

I used lots of oldie-but-goodie items for this card; the sailboat images are from a 2006 set called Set Sail; the sentiment is from the recently-retired Many Mates.

I stamped the images in Blueberry Bushel and added a star and tag in Real Red.  The brads are adhesive, which make for easy placement.  I did emboss the front of the card with the Stitched With Whimsy die to give it some wavy "motion".  This is a great color and I am happy it returned!

Thanks for visiting today!

When we were at Cassidy's school earlier this week, Dana told me they have a little fish pond right in the entryway!

In addition to the goldfish, they have a turtle...and her name is Michelle (Miss-Shell....get it?)  How fascinating!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TSOT572 Granny Apple Green Again

Hi there peeps!  I still had a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock sitting on my desk from the card I posted yesterday, and I needed a boy's birthday card, so I decided to make use of it!  He happens to like soccer so I pulled out an oldie stamp set called Have a Ball and went to work!  So here we go:

I used the sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday:

The soccer ball was stamped in Stazon and punched out with a circle punch.  I didn't have a hexagon die large enough to fit the sketch, so I used a Stitched Nested Label die and "trimmed" a full-sized diecut down by running it through the Big Shot partially on one end.  I used a smaller die to cut out the Celebrate, and the star die from Sports Events to cut out some wee stars:

I embossed the card front with the Coastal Weave EF and used a piece of Plaid Tidings from a few years ago for the horizontal panel.  Finally, the inside sentiment was stamped with Memento and colored in with a Granny Apple Green blend:

Now it's off in the mail!  I promise my next card will not feature ANY shade of Granny Apple Green!  Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Celebrate Seashells

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I have a sweet little CAS card for you using the Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch and the colors from CAS Colours & Sketches....I hope it's CAS enough for everyone!  Here are the prompts:

Here we go:

I wanted to use Friends are Like Seashells, as I hadn't gotten it inky for a while, so I stamped a couple of the shells in Bermuda Bay, stamped some seaweed in Coastal Cabana and mounted them on a Coastal Cabana DSP banner.  I hope Silver Glimmer paper is metallic enough, because that's what I used for the side scallops, and I added a few silver sequins as well:

The sentiment on the Tailor Made tag is from the retired Many Mates, and the inside sentiment is from the Seashell set:

I just love these beachy colors together!  Thanks for visiting today!

My niece shared these pictures of Jamison, Sawyer and their daddy fishing recently; don't you wish they could be innocent like this forever?  They love doing stuff with their daddy!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TTTC124 Summer Shaker

Hi there everyone!  Hope your week is going well!  It's time for a new Tic Tac Toe challenge, and here's the grid that Joanne came up with for Team X:

I needed a birthday card for my niece, and these fun summery papers from Carta Bella seemed to be perfect for a cute shaker card!  I chose the diagonal of Fruit, Patterned Paper and Shaker:

After creating the shaker and filling it with some Ice Cream Corner Sprinkles, I added a little cocktail from Nothing's Better Than, complete with its little lemon wedge on the rim:

There's also a cherry on the patterned paper:

and a little "celebrate" sentiment banner to bring it all together!

My niece will be 31 years old...hard to believe, and I can remember the day she was born!  Hope she likes it!  And I hope you'll play along with our Tic Tac Toe challenge grid this week.  Check out what all the DT created as well!  See you there!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP551 Sketch from Ann

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Hope your weekend is going well!  Ann is our Paper Players  hostess this week with a fun sketch...I was happy to see THREE banners on the sketch because I love things in threes! I needed a birthday card for my BIL, so I decided to use Sailing Home, which is a great masculine set!  So here's the sketch:

And here's my card:

I really struggle with "scenes", and this one was no exception!  I had to do some creative masking to get the ocean and the sky to look just right; the clouds that I wanted to add didn't look just right; the ocean color wasn't really what I wanted....well, I had spent enough time on it and just said the heck with it, it is what it is!

I embossed my card front with the Seaside embossing folder and added some banners of Real Red DSP from last year's selection, and stamped a sentiment from Many Mates in Memento Black.  I used a sponge brayer for the ocean and a blending brush for the sky.  Hopefully he'll like it!  I am also entering it at Just Add Ink; they want two out of three:  Sky, Sea or Trees, as well as Festive Friday, where I've chosen water, blue and red:

I hope you'll play along with our pretty little sketch!  Check out what the DT created...there are some beauties there this week, lots of new products being highlighted...you need to see them at the Paper Players blog!  Thanks for popping in today!

Dana, Wayne and Cassidy stopped on their way home from vacation to visit Dana's half-brother Kevin and his wife Kristy in North Carolina.  Dana is thirteen years younger than he is and they didn't spend much time together growing up but over the last several years have reconnected and they enjoy spending time together when they can.  I am very proud of my ex-stepson and his wife is a gem!  Looks like they had a great time!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Happy Anniversary

Hi peeps! Today is our 22nd wedding anniversary and I thought I'd share the card I made for John.  He's kind of a plain guy, he doesn't like fussy stuff, so I took Linda's FMS sketch:

and came up with this:

My base is Seaside Spray, and the main panel is a piece of Sand & Sea DSP, on which I stamped a lighthouse silhouette from Sweet & Sassy with some trees in the background:

I was a bit surprised; after stamping the lighthouse in Misty Moonlight, I stamped the trees in the background with Seaside Spray ink, and it actually turned the lighthouse a lighter shade...which looks kind of cool!  The sentiment is from Many Mates, and the coordinating "mate" was stamped below:

I also stamped some "splashes" on the card base with the splash stamp from Gorgeous Grunge since I still had it laying on my desk from a couple of cards ago!  Thanks for popping in today---be sure to come back tomorrow for a new Paper Players challenge!

Another Purple Card!

Hello peeps, and happy Saturday!  I have another purple card...can you believe it?  This is actually the first card I made for yesterday's As You See It challenge, but I ended up in going in a different direction!  But it was still kind of cute, so I decided to share it with you today.  It also uses the colors from CAS Colours and Sketches challenge; my card isn't exactly CAS, but I'll share it anyway.  Here are the colors:

And here we go:

I began by making a "quilt" of two gingham DSPs, using my Stitched Triangle dies and a Basic Gray square as a base.  I stamped one of the gnomes and his little tree home from Gnome for the Holidays in Basic Gray ink and watercolored them in, then fussy-cut them out and mounted them on the quilt:

The sentiment from Many Mates was stamped and heat-embossed in white, then diecut and popped up. I also added a ribbon, a tiny tag from a long-retired set and some Pinewood Planks embossing on the background!  I think this would make a cute birthday card, so it's going in my stash for the next one that comes up!  Thanks for popping in today!

We have so many trees around our property, it would be impossible to rake all the leaves that fall, but we do try to rake up the ones on the front yard so they don't kill our grass.  After blowing them into a looong pile, John brought the tractor and wagon over for me to load up.

Cassidy used to like to jump into the piles, but my other "child" made up for it:

He's just a big kid at heart!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
