Paper Players 235

Hi, everyone!  I trust you’re having a great weekend!  It’s Paper Players time, with Anne Marie as our hostess!  She has a wonderful color challenge for us this week; check it out:

Seeing those colors together like that made me think of the current Create with Connie & Mary sketch 345:

so I went to work, pulling out some scraps to make my card for this week:

Since I had the Hi There set already out, I thought it would be fun to incorporate the sentiments into the circular elements; I added a “hello” from the So You photopolymer set, just isolating it from the “hello sunshine” sentiment:

I also stamped some faux washi from Tape It along the diagonal and added a wee bit of linen thread!  It feels good to use some of my older stamps along with the newer ones!

ColourQ249 and an Experiment

Hey peeps!  It’s Tuesday, and look at this cute pillow Arielle found as her inspiration this week for the ColourQ:

I’ve been on a pillow-making frenzy the last week myself, but mine aren’t as cute as these!  I really wanted to incorporate a bird into my card, but the only one I could come up with was the toucan from Zoo Babies!  So here we go:

I heat-embossed each bird in white ink and white EP on cardstock in the challenge colors, then popped them out with a 1 1/4” circle punch.  The new set, Hi There, had a perfect trendy sentiment, so I stamped it in Poppy Parade and popped it up on a white circle and added some thick twine in Coastal Cabana.

They’re on a diecut mat from Lil’Inkers and my Coastal Cabana panel is embossed with a Cuttlebug EF.  And those sassy chicks at Just Us Girls have changed things up a bit, so their challenge this week is a word challenge---BIRD!!  Woohoo!  So I am linking this up there as well!

I made a second card using the challenge colors…I kind of wanted to experiment with stamping on tissue paper to make faux washi tape, but Cassidy was napping in the room where the tissue paper was, and I didn’t dare want to disturb her, so I tried stamping on a napkin!  LOL!  It turns out to be a wee bit fragile, but sort of fun…I used the As You See It challenge sketch, turning it on its side:

and did some die-cutting:

The banners sort of flutter…I really didn’t want to try to tape them down!  This uses Tape It and dies from Chalk Talk and the Circle Card Thinlets on a notecard!  And here’s the inside, using the “yay” diecut with Endless Birthday Wishes:

Yay!  It’s Friday---the end of a long week for me….don’t know why, but I am glad it’s here!  I was thrilled to see the Colour Me…! challenge this week:

because I LOVE Coastal Cabana, and I used it with the Freshly Made Sketches sketch from Rita for this fun card today:

I love how CC and black look together….a cool combination, and even though black flowers seem a bit odd, I think they look striking here!  I used several different sets, along with the Scalloped Tag Topper punch, to pull this all together.  I also used the new heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack...it fits nicely on the polka-dotted heart from Kind & Cozy!  Here’s the sketch:

I can tell you, when I was a kid, my mom never let me jump on the bed!  Wonder what happened when I became a grammy?

The accompanying music was “The Wheels on the Bus”, “This Old Man”, and “She’ll Be Comin’ Round the Mountain”…..just so you can get the right feel for the moment!

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Only one week until Christmas eve!  Are you ready?  I plan to do a lot of wrapping today!  Meanwhile, Arielle is still coming up with some incredible color challenges for us!  Here’s the one she chose for today:

I made another note card with these colors, using Tape It, Gorgeous Grunge and Creative Elements:

I also used the sketch from Create with Connie & Mary:

I stamped the flower three times on some retired DP, cutting out and popping up layers:

I added a little banner sentiment from Fabulous Phrases and some baker’s twine, and it’s done!  The design team did some incredible things with these colors, and I am sure you can too!  Share them with us at the ColourQ blog so we can all see them!  Have fun!

I am going to take a little blogging break until the end of the year….not altogether, but won’t be doing the Paper Players or ColourQ challenges until 2014….just wanting to spend some time with my family, as all of you do too!  Have a blessed remainder of 2013!

Pretty Pennants Thank You

Happy Saturday, peeps!  We are headed out to a Veteran’s Breakfast this morning, then just puttering around the house, cutting some cardstock and getting ready for some classes!  How about you? 

The Paper Craft Crew had a nice sketch this week:

and Hand Stamped Sentiments had a yummy color challenge:

 

so I combined the two for a pretty little thank you card:

All the pennants were stamped with the Tape It set, and I cut them out freehand, either using a scallop or circle punch or die for the edges.  Then I had fun!  I punched out some shapes from silver glimmer paper and other cardstocks, as well as some images from Papillon Potpourri and Itty Bitties to embellishment my pennants:

My final addition was a little sentiment from Tiny Tags!  Such a fun creation!  This also qualifies for the Shopping Our Stash challenge, which is “thanks”!

Cassidy looks quite industrious here, but she just couldn’t handle the rake!
