Sketchy Saturday x Two

Happy Monday, peeps!  After a very wet, soggy, gray, dreary Sunday, I am actually happy to see Monday arrive!  My creative friend Laurel has a nice little sketch challenge (AND a give-away) over at her blog, Seabrook Designs!  You need to check it out!  Here's her sketch:

I thought this sketch would be an awesome way to use up some pretty papers I have sitting around!  Of course, I made two cards (no wonder I never seem to get out of my craft room!), the first was a birthday card for a little girl at church, using some Cute Girl papers from Crate Paper:

I used the Merry Christmas thinlets for my big "Happy" along with an Altenew birthday sentiment called Label Love:

The stitched flowers are from My Favorite Things, embellished with some scraps of glimmer paper!

My second card uses Winterberry papers from My Mind' Eye and a sentiment stamp and die from Concord & 9th:

The paper really does all the work on this one as well!  The sentiment (Christmas Turnabout) was stamped with Cherry Cobbler and is also backed with another Cherry Cobbler banner to help it stand out a bit.  The tree from the retired SU set Warmth & Wonder was stamped in Memento Black on Mossy Meadow cardstock and punched out with a triangle tree punch; the glimmer paper snowflake was diecut with a die from Alpine Sports thinlets:

I had some enamel dots that weren't quite the right shade of red, so I colored them with a Dark Cherry Cobbler blend...those markers are so versatile!

The family had a very busy weekend, and this has to be my favorite photo of all the ones Dana sent me:

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS343 Vintage Snowmen

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  I have a quick little Christmas card today; I let the paper do most of the work on this one!  It uses the FMS sketch from Jen T:

and some fun coordinating vintage-style papers that came from.....I don't remember!  I think I bought this as a kit on Etsy!  Sorry!  Anyway, here we go:

My card base is Soft Sea Foam and I used a Papertrey die for the "Holiday", cut in Real Red. The words are stamped in Tranquil Tide, and I added a little baker's twine bow and some sequins from my stash!

I just love how that snowman is waving, right by the "hello"!  A happy coincidence!  The inside uses a little scrap of the printed paper and a sentiment from SU's retired Warmth and Wonder:

I am also entering this in The Merry Christmas challenge of Anything Goes!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Some pool time fun from last week....although it's going to rain today, no pool for us today!!!:

RetroRubber 83 Anything Goes

Hi everyone!  Tuesday means another Retro Rubber challenge and this is an easy one---Anything Goes!  Just use stamps that are least a year old, and tell us how old they are!!

Image may contain: text

I switched gears from Easter yesterday to Christmas today, dusting off a stamp set from 2012 called Winter Memories--again, it was only in the Holiday mini and I barely had time to use it!  I stamped the ice skates in Stazon black and used watercolors and markers to color it in:

I colored a little Soft Sky "shadow" behind the image to give it a little depth, which looks nice with the blue background papers I used:

The sentiment is from the same set, stamped in Poppy Parade, diecut with a square Stitched Shape die, repositioning it so I could get the rectangle shape.  My background is the Plaid Flannel stamp (2006), which is another stamp I'd been wanting for a while and finally found it on ebay!  The little holly leaves are from the Quilt Builder die set; I sponged the edges in Craft White ink, and punched some berries from a scrap of the same paper I used on the front of the card...those little white dots came in handy for my berries' highlights!

And for the inside, I used a stamp set from 2013 called Warmth and Wonder:

And now I have another card for my Christmas stash!  I hope you'll play along with us...the field is wide open!  Share it with us at Retro Rubber and meanwhile, check out what everyone else created for some fun inspiration!  You'll be surprised at what's in the gallery this week!

The library had Candy Bar Bingo yesterday...I don't think they were prepared for the 40+ children that showed up....but the librarian kept her cool and everyone went home a winner!  It was especially fun since the bingo chips were Hershey's Kisses!

(Notice the kisses all lined up!!!)

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

MM263 and FMS311 Christmas Cocoa

Happy Thursday, all!  I just couldn't get through the entire week without making another Christmas card, sorry!  The sketch from FMS just called my name, and the inspiration photo from Merry Monday was too fun to pass up:

I pulled out two retired sets called Scentsational Season and Warmth and Wonder to create this cozy little scenario:

I used papers from KaiserCraft for the background, and SU's Wood Textures for the pinecones, as well as Tranquil Tide (greenery) and Vellum (steam) cardstocks:

I love the effect of white embossing on the vellum...I can almost smell that hot cocoa!  Another Christmas card for my stash!

Well, this is the only picture Cassidy would let me take of her Halloween costume:

The elusive JoJo girl!  Oh, she did let me take one of her flashing zip-up sneakers!  Can you see the lights?!  LOL!

Enjoy your day and be sure to come back tomorrow for a new As You See It challenge!  Be blessed!

JUGS217

DSCF9457

Just a quick post today, boy, the season got busy all of a sudden!!  Like I didn’t know it was coming!  The Just Us Girls had a Wild Card challenge/inspiration---one layer with a winter theme:

I just received this sweet little hostess set, Warmth & Wonder, and I couldn’t help doing some masking, sponging and embossing:

Of course, I didn’t stamp my tree exactly straight and even, so I balanced it (I hope) with the sentiment, some silver snowflakes and a pretty silver ribbon.  The sponging was done with Pool Party and Coastal Cabana; the words are Bermuda Bay.  I heat embossed the tree with white EP and then added some glitter:

It was done on Shimmery White cardstock which gives it an extra shine!  And the inside:

Have a happy day!
