PP429 CAS Monochromatic Birthday

Happy Sunday, peeps!  I am the hostess at the Paper Players this week with a clean-and-simple monochromatic challenge!

I have found lately that I have been challenged when doing CAS cards---I really want to add layers, ribbons, pearls, whatever!  But at my very first Stampin' Up! workshop, the card we made used three things...some Very Vanilla paper, a cornucopia, speckle and sentiment stamps, and some Really Rust ink...that was it!  And I was thrilled!  So we should be able to still do that, right?!  So my card today does have a couple of layers, and I did use some sequins, tools and a blender pen, but it's still pretty simple:

I chose Flirty Flamingo and Calypso Coral as my monochromatic shades, and stamped some images from Serene Garden in Flirty Flamingo ink and colored them with a blender pen, then shaded them with some Calypso Coral.  My sentiment was stamped in Calypso Coral, and it is from the retired Watercolor Wishes kit.  As a nod to that first card I created, I stamped some speckles with my old faithful Itty Bitty Backgrounds stamp!  I added some Wink of Stella to my little butterfly...did you know that you can open the barrel of your pen and add some alcohol when it seems like your pen has run dry?  There is still lots of glitter left in there!  But be warned, sometimes it might come out FAST...see how my butterfly has a rather lop-sided load of glitter, LOL?!

Anyway, to add interest to the rest of my card, I cut off a corner to reveal a stamped leaf, then added a little stitched line and a few well-placed Gingham Gala sequins:

And who remembers piercing?  I added a little bit to the upper left corner:

And finally, I had this stitched circle in my scrap bin, so I stamped a sentiment from Treat Time on it for the inside:

So we can't wait to see your CAS creation!  Share it with us on the Paper Player blog, and be sure to check out what the designers came up with as well!

Cassidy continues her hairdressing skills on one of Dana's old Barbie dolls....I believe she is dressed in a dress I made with fabric from I dress I once wore!!

Hmmm...the colors and prints in that dress make me want to stamp something, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CTS289 Woodsy Thanks

Hello peeps!  Today's card uses the CAS(E) this Sketch sketch:

What a cute little retro sketch!  I wanted to make a masculine thank you card for a friend who made me a cornhole game!  Do you know what cornhole is?  You can read about it here. It's basically a big bean bag game!  Everywhere I go, people play and I can't participate because I can never get any practice in, so I finally got someone to make me one! (You know how unsports-minded I am...but I CAN play cornhole!)   Now I just need to finish it--paint or stain--and make my beanbags and I'm good to go!  Cards in Envy also has a Feels Like Fall challenge, so here's my take on both:

Normally I would not use Early Espresso as a card base, but after trying several colors, it seemed to be the best to bring out my pretty leaves from Rooted in Nature. After stamping, I diecut them with the Nature's Roots framelits.  I also heat-embossed a sentiment from the retired Watercolor Wishes:

The lineup of trees from Winter Woods worked well for the vertical images on the smaller panel;  I stamped these in Soft Suede and repositioned them on the Crumb Cake panel and stamped again without reinking.  I love the depth it created!

I placed a piece of Whisper White cardstock on the inside on which to write my note, and added some more leaves to embellish it:

Thanks for popping in today!

Cassidy sent me this picture the other day while she and Mommy were taking a walk; I guess she liked the clouds at sunset!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Isn't that amazing?!  So many chances to win!  Now let me show you what I created, since my wee little one will be having a birthday next month, I decided to get a head start:

I used the sketch from In(k)spire Me:

and I always sort of cringe when elements are "wonky" but I forced myself to go with it!  I used some Sweet Sugar Plum glimmer paper and a balloon die that was a gift, so I am not sure of the maker--maybe Simon Says Stamp?  The papers are from Bo Bunny's Petal Lane collection, the "celebrate" is from Watercolor Wishes, and the sequins were also a gift:

I added some black glimmer embellishments, and used another sentiment from Perennial Birthday on the inside:  Since it's a shaker, I used SU's thick white cardstock for my base, since it's nice and sturdy!

SO....what celebration will you highlight on your creation?  It doesn't even have to feature balloons, just some sort of celebration!  We do have guidelines as to how many challenges can be featured on one submission, so be sure to check out the rules before you participate!  We want everyone to be able to have a chance to win!  Now GO create something!!  If you need inspiration, you can check out all the designers' creations at the links below (and we have some past designers in there too!)  And since this is a rather long post, if you have any questions about any of the products, shoot me an email!  Have a blessed day!

CTS273 and FF138 A Big Hooray

Happy Monday, peeps, and Happy Memorial Day if you live in the states!  We have nothing planned today, so it's a lazy day!  I should straighten up my craft room though!!  Anyway, here's a quick graduation card using the CAS(E) This Sketch sketch and the colors from Fab Friday:

My sentiment is from the retired Perfectly Wrapped, as are the horizontal doodads; the florals are from the retired Bordering Blooms:

I stamped the solid images in the challenge colors, then colored in the outline images with SU markers:

I used a variety of sets to stamp the inside sentiments and then added a little fussy-cut grad hat:

Thanks for popping in today!!

Some people shop at yard sales....Cassidy climbs trees!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP356 The Great Outdoors

Happy fabulous Sunday, peeps!  I hate to keep going on about the weather, but it has been SO nice here lately, I can't stop gushing!  It feels more like September!  Of course, this coming week it will go back to normal hot, humid summer weather, but this weekend, I am enjoying it!  Speaking of weather, it would be a great time to do some camping, just like the photo in Nance's Paper Players theme challenge this week: The Great Outdoors!  What a fabulous theme!

Although I am not a big fan of the mountains (I do like the woods, though), I AM a big fan of the beach! Since I only got to go swimming in the ocean once this summer, I thought a beachy card would help me not miss running across the hot sand to stick my toes in the cold water!  I just got some pretty seashell stamps from CTMH....I'd admired them for a while, and although I do have lots of other seashell stamps, these allowed me to do some copper embossing and watercoloring!  Check them out:

I used the color challenge from TGIF Challenges of Pool Party, Lemon Lime Twist and Crushed Curry:

I heat embossed the images with Versamark ink and Copper embossing powder on Shimmery White cardstock, then used an aquapainter to color them in.  I fussy-cut them out and mounted them with dimensionals on a piece of Watercolor paper that had been spritzed with water and colored with Pool Party ink and a few speckles of Copper Encore.

I mounted that on a Brushed Copper cardstock panel and then again on a thick white cardstock base. I heat embossed a little sentiment from Impression Obsession on the lower right, and gave it a little swoosh of Pool Park as well:

My girlfriend has a birthday coming up in a couple of weeks and she loves the beach, so this will be perfect for her.  I added a couple of birthday sentiments to the inside to finish it off:

The DT has come up with some incredible creations for Nance's challenge, I hope you'll check them out!  Then you can share yours with us too....it's a great inspiration for some masculine cards as well!  Thanks for popping by!

Cassidy is on vacation with her daddy this week, so I won't have any pictures to share.  We did go to the pool on Friday and she wore herself out going down the slides...over and over and over again! She also learned to swim underwater without holding her nose!  Here she is on our drive home; she was plumb tuckered out:

Actually, she does this often!  Here she is on their vacation trip to GA, once under a towel and again under blankie:

She cracks me up! I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree....I sleep with a sheet over my head too!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Stamp Ink Paper 110 Primaries

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  It's time for another Stamp Ink Paper challenge....and today, we are featuring primary colors!

No automatic alt text available.

I decided to go with a "nautical" theme and I pulled out the little sailboat from Swirly Bird for my     4 1/4" square card today:

I stamped the boat using Real Red, Pacific Point and Daffodil Delight, and created my waves with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders die.  I used Claire's sketch from Sunday Stamps for my layout:

It's a bit of a challenge to see, but I used some embossing paste and the Pattern Party Decorative Masks to create some clouds in the background.  I stamped a sentiment from this month's Paper Pumpkin and diecut it with a Bitty Banners die:

And used Banner Blast for my little flags!  I also used some enamel stars on the horizontal panel as well!

The inside is also made up of sentiments from Watercolor Wishes and the July PP kit as well:

It's always fun to create something with these bright colors---I hope you'll share your primary-colored creation with us and be sure to check out what the DT came up with as well!

With all the construction on the house going on, our yardwork has been neglected; I finally went around and cut down some low-hanging branches on our trees so I didn't get whacked in the head when I mowed!  I promised Cassidy we could go swimming after we cleaned them up, and I have to say, she was a trooper!  We piled all the branches in the trailer and Grampy towed them away to dump them out along the woods!

She didn't complain a peep!  And for those who have asked about how the house is coming along, it's slow...John has been working on all the electrical wiring for the kitchen...under-the-counter lighting, ceiling lights and fans, new outlets, recessed lighting....all the stuff that needs to be done before any of the "pretty" stuff gets done!  Plus he is working his business as well, and he's been busy!  So it is getting done a little bit at a time...thanks for asking!  And thanks for stopping in today, and be blessed!
