PP645 CAS One-Layer Father's Day

Happy Sunday, peeps!  It's Father's Day here in the US, and also time for a new Paper Players challenge with Jaydee as our hostess!  And it's Clean-and-Simple time!  Here's her CAS theme:

ONE LAYER!  That means just one piece of cardstock, folded in half, then stamped!!  I had lots of ideas but one-layer is challenging, isn't it? I kept wanting to add more stuff!  In the end, this is the one-layer notecard I created:

I hadn't broken into my Gone Fishing set yet, and Wayne is an avid fisherman, so I thought it would be a perfect way to create a Father's Day card for him.  I originally started on a regular-sized card, but the images looked a little dwarfed, so I trimmed it down to a note card.  Before stamping each set of images, I used the retired Watercolor Shapes and stamped a rectangle in Antique Linen Distress ink. I don't often use Distress inks, but I feel like they made my other inks bleed a little bit; I'll have to do some further experimenting with them!  I just love these little lures and fishy:

I added some speckles to the rainbow trout with a Blushing Bride marker, too....I am not sure if that's what a rainbow trout looks like in real life, but it's gonna do for my card!  I added another lure and a sentiment from the same set on the inside:

My last part was to stamp "For You" from Country Bouquet, then add a little Linen Thread to the card front....it helped to offset the rectangles that I didn't stamp quite in the center!  I am going to enter this over at the Krafty Chicks as well, as their challenge this week is Clean and Simple too!

I hope that our one-layer Clean-and-Simple challenge doesn't challenge you too much, because we'd love to see how creative you can be with it!  Be sure to check out the Design Team's samples over at the Paper Players blog....then share yours with us too!

The kids went to the Delaware shore yesterday, leaving early in the morning in Wayne's jeep....with no sides or roof!  Brrrr!  Both Cassidy and her friend Gia were well bundled-up!

Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Inspired By Thinking of You

Happy Friday, peeps, happy weekend!  I have a colorful card for you today for the Inspired By challenge; here's the prompt and sketch:

I needed a get well/thinking of you card for a friend of ours who is doing some rehab, and the nested bowls in the photo reminded me of the little teacup stamp that SU had a long time ago!  I found papers to match the bright colors, cut them to fit the sketch and here we go:

I stamped the teacups in Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight and Tahitian Tide, then fussy cut them out and popped them up on a circular diecut:

I added some sequins, then a sentiment from Quiet Meadow, stamped in Coastal Cabana and diecut with a banner die from Give It A Whirl, then added another sentiment from the same set on the inside, highlighting it with a circle stamp from Watercolor Shapes:

Thanks for popping in today, I appreciate it!  AND I appreciate all the comments and suggestions about my mess-up on the 80th birthday card!  Some great ideas, thanks so much!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

SAB Times Three

Happy Tuesdsay, peeps!  I had stamp clubs yesterday and so I had been busy in the last week trying to create some samples to show all the beautiful SAB products my gals had to choose from!  I have to say that the Hippos and Rings of Love were the favorites!  But here are three samples I randomly chose to share today:

This holiday card uses Rings of Love DSP because it reminded me of a wintery, snowy woods.  I added a sprig from Nature's Prints, inked with Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler markers and backed on a Stitched Rectangle panel that was stamped with a rectangle from Watercolor Shapes.  The sentiment is from the new Brightest Glow, also diecut and stamped with Watercolor Shapes.  I added a Cherry Cobbler border (Blossoming Happiness dies) and some red rhinestones.

I am also entering this at the Global Design Project, where they are looking for "shapes"....I have lots of rectangle shapes here!

My second card uses the ducks from the SAB set Stylish Shapes.  I stamped them in Soft Suede on a panel that was diecut from the Scary Silhouettes Dies and added a sentiment from Happiness Abounds.  I had a piece of Crumb Cake I had embossed with the Timber EF but never used, so I diecut a square panel from Stylish Shapes for the background, then mounted everything on a piece of He's The Man DSP and a Crumb Cake card. For interest, I diecut a little banner, cut it in half and tucked it into little slits on either side of the image, then added some metallic brads:

Finally, this pretty pattern from the Rings of Love DSP just makes me smile....I love all the BLUE!  I had a wee little piece of the embossed Crumb Cake left from the card above, so I made a couple more little banners, added a baker's twine bow and a sentiment from Nature's Prints and Watercolor Shapes:

That's it for today!  If you have any questions about the cards, shoot me an email!

Cassidy is at Summer Assembly this week; it's a camp put on by Christian Endeavor, and she is following in her mommy's footsteps, as Dana went for several years as a member of our church's youth group, and has fond memories of it!  Cassidy was a bit apprehensive to go away for that length of time, but so far she seems to be having fun!  Pray for her to grow in her faith in the Lord and to be a good witness!  Truthfully, she looks so grown-up here, I can hardly believe it!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI270 Spotlight on Spring Flowers

Happy Friday, peeps!  Hope you are all doing well.  We have a theme challenge for you this week at As You See It:

My spring flowers are just beginning to pop their little sprouts out of our beds, so we have nothing that looks like this yet!  But I thought the flowers in the Quiet Meadow set would look nice in green and yellow, so here we go:

Rather than color the flowers individually, I stamped the image in Garden Green and used the large circle from Watercolor Shapes and stamped it in Daffodil Delight over the flowers, creating a kind of spotlight effect!  It was quick and easy!  I did add a little more color to the petals with a yellow watercolor pencil, then added some sequins for fun.  I used papers from the Heart and Home DSP line, added some Smoky Slate scallops and a wee bit of Daffodil Delight ribbon before adding my sentiment:

My sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches:

This could be used for so many occasions....sympathy, birthday, hello!  I hope you'll find some spring-like inspiration from our challenge this week and share your creations with us at As You See It as well!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed.  And pray for the Ukraine!

TTTC152 Hand-Penned Vellum

Hi everyone!  Happy Thursday and welcome back to a new Tic Tac Toe challenge!  Here's the grid that our talented Betty came up with:

I had to laugh at myself because I used this same Hand-Penned Petals stamp set for my last Tic Tac Toe challenge!  What can I say, I just love this set!  It's perfect for spring!  SO....I chose the right column of vellum, sympathy and floral. I don't use vellum enough and I thought I'd see how this floral image looked stamped in Stazon black and colored on the back of the vellum.  Here we go:

I haven't done this technique for a long time, but even I was surprised and impressed at how vivid and bright the colors were!  I used Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent inks and an aquapainter to color on the back, but you could also use markers or Blends!  I did heat the vellum a bit after coloring it to "unwarp" it and it worked perfectly!

I diecut it with the coordinating dies, then mounted it on a piece of Basic White and stamped a sympathy sentiment from Special Moments and added a little color to it by stamping one of the rectangles from Watercolor Shapes on top.  It's a simple thing but it really highlights the sentiment!  I also added some speckles from Color & Contour:

Everything went on a Soft Succulent card base that was embossed with the Timeworn Type EF, and I added some DSP and a few sequins for fun.  And it's already in the mail, winging to its recipient!  I hope you'll find a column or row in our grid this week that will inspire you to create something pretty!  Be sure to share it with us at the Tic Tac Toe challenge!  Can't wait to see you there!  Thanks for visiting today!

Finally....Eden settled down....but she is as close to her buddy as she can be without being in her bed, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!  And be sure to pray for the Ukraine!
