RRCB92 At the Beach

Hi everyone!  Wow, can you believe it's the last day of July!  Wowza!  The summer is flying by!It's time for another Retro Rubber Challenge and we have a beachy-themed one!  This will keep summer going a wee bit longer!   I always love beachy challenges!!!

Image may contain: ocean and text

I got this stamp a couple of years ago at a stamp show; it's from Technique Junkies and it's called Besties!  I just love it because it reminds me of me and my sisters, swimming in the ocean at the Delaware beaches we so love!

I stamped the image on some Whisper White cardstock using Soft Sky ink, then mounted it on a panel of Crumb Cake.  The DSP was loose in my stash but I think it is from a My Mind's Eye pad but I don't remember the name.  On it I stamped some beachy images of seashells and starfish but my image covers up most of them!  Too bad because they are very pretty.  Anyway, it creates a subtle background:

My sentiment is from an Artistic Outpost set called The Outpost....it is probably from at least 2010.  I mounted it on a piece of burlap ribbon and put the whole shebang on a Soft Sky card!

I hope you'll play along with our challenge and give your older stamps some love!  Remember, they have to be at least a year old and you need to give us the age of them (appromixately!!).  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

While on vacation, Cassidy got a "pretend" tattoo of a dolphin jumping out of the waves:

Big bad Wayne had to show off his big bad eagle tattoo as well....he's such a faker!  And can you guess which football team is his favorite, LOL!?

Thanks for popping in!

CTS282 Simple Birthday Cards

Happy Monday, peeps!  Exciting day here, our patio is finally being started...with all the rain we've been having, the contractor was delayed.  Of course, more rain is on the way, so we'll see how far they get this week!  Anyway, I did a wee bit of stamping this weekend...not much...but I did make a set of cards using the CAS(E) This Sketch sketch (I do love things in threes!):

Again, I had a chance to play with some patterned paper and these three caught my eye:

They were also a gift from Teri, so I don't know who made them, but the colors and patterns are so playful, I couldn't resist them!  I actually made three cards from the 6x6" piece of paper (I only took pictures of two) and I used a Paper Pumpkin sentiment for the circular element.  Both were embellished simply with Candy Dots:

Finally, I had a couple of small square scraps left and I diecut them with the Stitched Framelits die and added a diecut sentiment on top!

I have lots of August birthdays coming up, so I was happy to get started on my stash!  Thanks for popping in today!

A few more pictures from the town of Lewes, Delaware:

The prayer labyrinth from St Peter's church:

A rock candy display from the candy store (YUM):

A sweet little door:

Some inviting deck chairs....although I sat in one and got my bottom wet, LOL!!!

And my favorite of all, this little wall of Dutch sabot planters; SO CUTE!!!  Lewes was settled by Dutch explorers, so this is even more meaningful!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP403 A Little Hug

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Hope you weekend is going well so far!  Claire is our hostess with the mostest this week at the Paper Players and she's given us a sketch to work with:

I have been making mostly CAS cards lately, so it was nice to look through my humongous stash of papers to find some to play with!  I haven't done a vintage-style card for a while, so I pulled out some papers that had subtle colors to make a card for a couple in our church; perhaps I should have made it a bit brighter, but hopefully they'll enjoy it.  They both have health issues and I know they could use a paper hug!

The papers were all from a stash my friend Teri gave me, so I don't know who makes them!!  The stamp is from Hero Arts (CL758); I did a bit of paper piecing and shading of the banner:

and sponged and grunged all the layers with some Crumb Cake inks.  The green layer, as well as the Crumb Cake card base, was also stamped with an image from Gallery Grunge, and the green layer was also embossed with the Subtle EF.  On the inside, I added a Bible verse from Papertrey, stamped in Soft Suede:

The design team has a plethora of cool creations made with Claire's sketch; I hope you'll check them out and share your own with us as well!  Hope to see you at the Players!

While we were on vacation, we spent a lot of time in the town of Lewes, Delaware (pronounced "Lewis"); it's the same town where Dana and Wayne got married last September.  We like to go to the beach there; it's actually a bay where we go and we can see the Cape May-Lewes ferry coming and going!

John likes to fish and look at the boats going out:

While my thing is to sit on the beach and read:

There are treasures to be found on the beach, too; this is a horseshoe crab and a little seagull feather...not many good shells on the bay side, though:

And one morning the yacht club had sailing lessons and all the kids brought out the Sunfish sailboats:

I'll share some more later!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI181 What I'm Obsessed With

Hello peeps!  Friday, yay!!!  Yesterday turned out to be a lovely day, surprisingly, and we spent some time in the neighbor's pool!  Yippee!  Today is a new As You See It challenge, and it's a unique one:

No automatic alt text available.

Well, now....let me think...this WAS a challenge for me because I can find myself obsessed with any number of things!  BUT since I just received this new Subtle embossing folder, I find myself reaching for it quite often, so that's my "current" obsession!  Today I am using it with the Freshly Made Sketches sketch:

to make a birthday card for my BIL who happens to be a pilot!  I've been searching for a good airplane stamp for a while, and I finally found one at Unity!  This set is called For the Guys, and the images are a bit vintage, which I really like!

I used some Our Daily Bread Designs paper called Patriotic Collection, along with some layers of Real Red and Night of Navy.  The card base is a retired color, Bordering Blue, which was one of my favorites, and it was embossed with the Subtle EF.  Finally, I stamped the airplane:

and the sentiment both on a piece of paper from the same paper pad (dumb luck that the sentiment lined up so perfectly!!!) and added a couple of enamel stars after die-cutting the banner and fussy-cutting the plane.

I love the patriotic feel to this masculine card!  What are you obsessed with right now? I hope you'll play along at As You See It and show us what you can't live without, LOL!

Speaking of patriotic, we were at my SIL's house yesterday while she watched her grandsons....one of them just got this hat and he thought it was pretty snazzy....he wore it most of the day:

The rest of them just ate ice cream!!!

I think Remy was sad, he didn't have any ice cream!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB30 Pool Time

Hey everyone!  The Inspired By challenge today is called Pool Time...I will have to enjoy my pool time vicariously through my card because there certainly is no pool time here in PA!  MAYBE on Saturday the sun will return!  Anyway, here's my fun little card:

And here is Laurel's prompt for this week:

I don't have any pineapple or flamingo stamps, but I do have an Adirondack chair, a sunshine, and some summery sentiments!  I started out with some fun papers from Crate Paper, and a sketch from CAS Colours and Sketches:

I layered some diecuts:

added a couple fun sentiments and embellishments:

and some stamping on the inside as well:

I need a few more birthday cards, so this will definitely come in handy!  Hope you'll play along with our summery challenge at Inspired By!

Cassidy got a new belt in karate last night!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CTS281 Serene Garden

Hi peeps!  Wednesday and it's STILL raining here!  Crazy stuff!  I consoled myself by spending a little time in my craft room, using the CAS(E) this Sketch for this week:

Serene Garden is a gorgeous new set, perfect for using SU's Blends...after stamping the images on Shimmery White cardstock in Memento ink, I colored these with Pumpkin Pie and Calypso Coral markers with just a touch of Cherry Cobbler:

I embossed the white panel with the new Subtle embossing folder after I stamped the speckles and sentiment; I just LOVE the texture it creates!

I popped up my flowers and mounted the panel on a Mango Melody card base!  I left the inside blank and will add a sentiment when I need to!

Be sure to pop back in tomorrow with a new Inspired By challenge!  Thanks for visiting--enjoy your day and be blessed!
