AHSC453 Fresh Freesia Birthday

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I needed a card for a special friend and the sketch from Atlantic Hearts was a perfect way to use the stamp set and papers I wanted:

I used the florals from All Thing Fabulous and Heart and Home DSP along with a panel of Mint Macaron for my card:

I stamped the flowers in Fresh Freesia and Gorgeous Grape, along with some Mint Macaron leaves, diecut them with the Fabulous Florals die and mounted them on a Tasteful Labels die, then used the filigree die for the center horizontal panel:

The sentiment is from Shaded Summer; I taped off part of the sentiment, inked up the stamp, removed the tape and stamped.  I then diecut it with a tag die from Ornate Frames.  My friend likes purple, so I hope she'll like her card!  Thanks for popping in today!

Cassidy has shown some interest in playing the piano, so we got her a little keyboard so she could play at home:

Thank goodness for the earphones, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Buffalo Plaid Cabin Birthday

Hi peeps!  I hope you all had a great holiday!  We did, but I am having a hard time getting back into my stamping groove!  Maybe it's too many Christimas cookies!  Anyway, we are attending a surprise 70th birthday party this weekend and I needed a card for the birthday guy.  I recycled some red and black buffalo plaid from a card I got recently and inked up the cabin from Reflected in Nature (which I've had for a while and never inked up!!!) in Memento Black:

I used my Stamparatus to get the image good and inky, then added a couple of little banners with the number 70 diecut with the Little Numbers dies:

I added a simple birthday sentiment on the inside and it was done!  Thanks for popping in today!

Cassidy made some chocolate cupcakes with chocolate peppermint frosting for Christmas!  Yum!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Merry Christmas!

"While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son.  She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger,   because there was no room at the inn." Luke 2: 6-7

May you all have a blessed Christmas!!

Two More Christmas Cards

Happy Thursday, peeps!  I'll probably not post in the next few days because of Christmas, so I am sharing TWO cards today because I did some shopping for myself (that way I get what I want!) and had to share some of my new goodies!  The first one uses a Tim Holtz die I got free from Simon Says Stamp (thanks, Michele, for letting me know) along with some starry paper from Photoplay; simple and easy:

I created two snowy hills with SU's retired Sleigh Ride dies, added an older Paper Pumpkin sentiment, stamped in Gray Granite, then adhered it all together; Santa and his reindeer were cut from Basic Black cardstock as well:

Since gray is not a cheerful Christmas color, I mounted it on a Merry Merlot card base and added another Paper Pumpkin sentiment (and stars) on the inside:

And I am entering this one at Hand Stamped Sentiments, where they have this inspiration board; of course, the silhouetted Santa was my inspiration!

My second card uses some new stamps from PhotoPlay called North Pole Trading Company; this little Santa just captured my heart:

I colored him with Blends, then used the coordinating dies to cut him out:

He was mounted on a Tailor Made tag that was embossed with a Tim Holtz "believe" embossing folder and that was all mounted on a piece of black and red glitter plaid DSP I had in my stash.  I added a red glimmer bow diecut to the top of the tag, and I mounted it on a Basic Gray card front, adding some snowflakes from a retired Paper Pumpkin set to lighten it up a bit! His final embellishment, after some Wink of Stella on his beard and coat, was a little snowflake, punched out with a tiny flower punch, on top of his hat!  I used the same sentiment on the inside as the first card.  This one is being entered at Tuesday Morning Sketches, where their challenge is Anything Goes!

Thanks for hanging in there with me and my continual passion for making Christmas cards!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Sweet Little Teabag Holder

Hi peeps!  I haven't made too many gift items this season but I found some really yummy chocolate mint tea bags from Red Rose Tea and I wanted to gift a couple of them, so I set out to make a little tea bag holder.  Actually, my upline, Pennie McCallum, made something similar to this many, many years ago, which helped get me hooked on stamping!  Anyway, here we go:

I used some Painted Christmas DSP to embellish the front, along with an Ornate Frame die, a sentiment from Itty Bitty Christmas and some Real Red Cotton ribbon:

First, I measured some Mint Macaron cardstock and cut it to 6 1/2" x 4 3/4", then scored the shorter side at 1 3/4" and folded it up for an inside pocket, trimming the inside edges a wee little bit so there was less bulk.  I decorated the front panels of each pocket, slipped in the tea bags, then tied it shut!

I didn't even put any adhesive on the sides; just folding and tying it together keeps it snug!  I am entering this at Just Add Ink this week, where they are looking for gift packaging!

A few more pictures from the Nativity play:

Joseph, Mary, baby Jesus and a donkey!

The angel speaking to the shepherds (recognize that little sheep?):

The angelic host, jumping for joy at the birth of Jesus!

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

"And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.  An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.  But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid.  I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.  This will be a sign to you:  You will find the baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."

AHSC Little Hi

Hi peeps!  Happy Tuesday! I have a quick card today, made simple by using a retired Mosaic punch and (mostly) DSPs from Sweet Symmetry.  It also uses the sketch from Atlantic Hearts:

I punched out several different mosaics and arranged them on a Basic White panel that was embossed with the Tasteful Textile embossing folder, then adhered to a Just Jade card:

I added some sequins for fun:

Finally, I added a sentiment from the new SAB Special Moments, diecut with an Ornate Frames die:

Thanks for popping in today!

I know I promised more pictures from the children's Nativity play, but Dana had a couple of fun visitors at her work yesterday, and I just had to share some pictures of them!  She works in the office at a senior care facility, and they brought these in to show the residents:

Can you believe it?  It's a baby kangaroo!  There were actually two of them, Pearl and Duncan, and they came from a farm in central PA. They transport them in little pouches!  Here's her co-worker with one of them:

They had fun hopping around the conference room:

And they wear diapers, well, because they're babies!  Look at that FACE!

Dana wanted to take one home.....but I don't think Eden or Ginger would be very happy, needless to say what Wayne would say, LOL!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IC106 Peaceful Deer

Happy Monday, peeps!  No more DT obligations for the rest of the year, so I'll just be making cards for fun! This one is for the Inspire Create challenge, which is to use some neutral hues:

These colors reminded me that I hadn't used this Unity stamp for a while; I stamped him in Early Espresso ink on a plaid Crumb Cake DSP, then colored him with a Blender Pen and some Cinnamon Cider ink:

I added a couple of sprig stamps and the word "peace" from a CTMH set, then stamped some pine cones and greenery from another CTMH set along the edge of a Cinnamon Cider panel.  I finished it off with a piece of Early Espresso faux suede ribbon:

A few more CTMH stamps on the inside finished it off!  I love making Christmas cards!  Thanks for popping in today!

Our covenant children presented a short Nativity program yesterday at church; we haven't done something like that for a while and it was really precious and just what I needed to get into the Advent spirit.  I'll just share a few pix today, then sprinkle the rest in during the week!  Cassidy took a little lamb (our pastor's youngest) for a bathroom break before she got her costume on:

In her Mary costume:

Lined up on the stage, waiting to begin:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

You're A Blessing

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Tomorrow at church we'll honor our pianist/organist who has made our worship so much more meaningful during the last FORTY years!  Can you believe that?  Forty years!  She has a master's degree in music and plays at nursing homes and for many choruses besides at our little church! She is also a teacher and Dana was her student as well!  So here's the card I made to thank her for all her music over the years:

Although it's technically not a Christmas card, I did use some beautiful Christmas papers from Kaiserkraft, adding a Balmy Blue glimmer paper scallop and a sentiment from Little Delights; the card base is Sahara Sand, and it's larger than a standard A4 card because I wanted to get all of that image at the top:

Since it was a larger card, I created my own envelope with an envelope punch board, and added a scallop of the same paper along the edge:

And I used a large sentiment from Pinkfresh's Scripted Bold Sentiments on the inside:

I am also entering this at the Color Dare 476, where they want to see pastel shades!  I did use a blue shade for my sentiments, so I hope they won't disqualify me!!

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC251 Butterfly Sympathy

Happy Friday, peeps!  Only a week until Christmas Eve...are you ready? I am NOT ready, LOL!  But I will be!  Sadly, I needed a sympathy card this week and while I was perusing the winners at Inspired By for my card yesterday, I saw another card by Nora that I really liked; you can see it here.  I used the sketch from Atlantic Hearts:

And here's my take on her inspiration:

I used some Smoky Slate DSP for the background, then created a mat of Purple Posy on which to adhere a panel that was stamped with the words from Quiet Meadow as well as embossed with the Timeworn Type embossing folder.  I added some diecuts in Basic White, a butterfly from Positive Thoughts and a wee bit of Black and White Gingham ribbon.

The sentiment is from an upcoming SAB set called Special Moments, which I predict will be very popular!  Finally, I added this to the inside; it's from Sweet & Sassy:

Thanks for visiting today!

John's sister sent these pictures in her Christmas card to us this year; it was John's first sailboat!!!

Of course, it wasn't seaworthy, but he said he remembered having a lot of fun building it!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
