JAI698 Give Thanks

Happy Saturday, everyone! The sun is FINALLY shining here in PA, after some gray and cloudy weather! I have a quick happy little card today for you, it uses the Just Add Ink challenge:

I chose leaves and flowers to make a thank you card for someone who did something really nice for me lately!  Here we go:

I stamped the Bible verse and leaves from Courage and Faith in Soft Sea Foam ink, then filled in with a Soft Sea Foam marker.  The flowers and background of Bubble Bath go nicely with the green, I think:

The flowers were diecut with the Country Flowers dies, and I added some Herringbone ribbon to finish it off.  This will go out in the mail real soon! And here's what I received from one of my sweet stamping friends yesterday:

We did a little day trip and did some antique/junk shopping and she found out that I collect hobnail milk glass!  I have a few small pieces, but I don't go overboard in spending on them, and I do use them often.  When we got home, she took this from her china cabinet and gave it to me! I love it! I do not have anything footed like this one, so it will take a special place among all my other goodies, and I will be sure to give it some love!  I have the best friends!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Dear friends, let us love one another, because love comes from God.  Whoever loves is a child of God and knows God.  1 John 4:7

PP680 Color Challenge from Jaydee

Happy Sunday, everyone!  The Paper Players' challenge this week is from our hostess Jaydee, and she has a color challenge for us!  Her prompt uses bold, bright colors, but I think you can use any shades of these:

I did choose to use the bright colors of Daffodil Delight, Bubble Bath and Granny Apple Green for my card, but in mostly small amounts!  Here we go:

I stamped the images and sentiment from Courage and Faith in Versafine Black, then colored the images with markers.  I did manage to get some blending in there...Blends bleed with Versafine, so I used regular markers in Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Bubble Bath and Berry Burst for the flowers, and Granny Apple Green and Lemon Lime Twist for the leaves:

I diecut it with a circle die, added a little Adhesive-Backed flower, then mounted it on a Daffodil Delight panel that was embossed with the retired Framed Tulips embossing folder.  A little bit of black & white gingham ribbon reinforced the black and white outlines!  Unfortunately, I needed a third sympathy card this week, so this will be popped in the mail for that!

I hope these colors inspire you to create something bright and fresh, or use softer hues to create whatever you want!  Check out what the DT created at the Paper Players blog to get some more inspiration!

I thought I'd share a couple of pictures of a wasp's nest that had been hanging in our maple tree over the summer! Blessedly, we didn't have to mow under this particular tree as it is so shady, no grass grows under it!  It finally deteriorated enough to fall down and John found it in the year.  The outer sections (which are falling off) sheathe the inner combs....pretty fascinating!

You just don't want to get near it when those wasps are alive, LOL!  Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC557 Sympathy

Happy Wednesday, peeps! Hope you had a good Christmas holiday! The days feel weird, I am all messed up, LOL! I did manage to clean a little space on my stamp table (which looks like a tornado hit it) to make, sadly, a sympathy card.  I used the Atlantic Hearts sketch:

I just got some Fitting Florets DSP from the Clearance Rack, and I paired it with the florals from Fruitful Blessings....trying to get some more use from it before it retires!  So here we go:

After diecutting my circle, I mounted it on a scallop of Smoky Slate and added a sentiment from Lasting Joy and a black gingham bow.  The DSP panel was diecut with the Basic Borders die, and to complement the black & white, I added a smaller diecut panel of Basic Black.  I admit that the little smaller circle beneath the main image threw me a bit! I ended up diecutting a vellum circle, then adding some bluish pearls round the edge, and one on the floral image as well:

I added a little panel of the same DSP on the inside and a sentiment from Courage and Faith:

It's sad any time to need sympathy card, but it's worse at the holidays.  Hope this brings some comfort.

So we got to meet our new great-nephew Coby over Christmas:

He's so tiny and sweet!  And of course, we can't forget big brother Cole:

Cassidy was in her glory...she's going to be a great babysitting some day soon!

Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

TMS733 Give Thanks

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I spent most of yesterday cranking out Thanksgiving cards, and the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches provided a perfect one for using up some scraps in my bin!  Here's the sketch:

I had a bunch of strips cut from All About Autumn DSP for an earlier project, so I trimmed them a bit and created this card:

I stamped the Very Vanilla panel with a tree from the retired Rooted in Nature, stamped the sentiment from Courage and Faith over top, then embossed it with the retired Subtle embossing folder.  I love the effect it creates:

A couple of diecut leaves of Crushed Curry finished it off.  The inside sentiment is from the retired Day of Thanks:

I also made this card, after searching through some retired DSPs...I have been hoarding this pattern but thought it would make a fun Thanksgiving card:

I can't remember the name of the woodland DSP but I know it was a SAB from a few years back; the bottom piece is from Sweet Symmetry.  The sentiment is from Good Greetings, and the woodcut is from Truly Grateful.  It's fun to use some of these older stamps!  The inside is also from Day of Thanks, and it all went on a Poppy Parade card base!

Wayne is a fan of ANY Philadelphia sports team....here the family is at a 76ers game!  Wayne's brother Matt is also a fan...he's next to Cassidy, actually paying attention, LOL!

Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

PP611 In Every Thing Give Thanks

Happy Monday, all!  It's Stamp Club day, and I love seeing my stamping friends! SO this is a short and sweet post! It's for the FMS sketch this week, love this one:

I saw this card by my friend Amanda and remembered the plaid DSP from the Let's Go Fishing line, and it worked nicely for the fall/Thanksgiving-themed card I had in mind.  So here we go:

I already had the leaves and acorns diecut and colored, I just added a little more Pecan Pie ink to them, and cut them apart to make them fit on my 4 1/4" square card a little better.

I embossed the Pecan Pie panel with the Hive embossing folder and created the tag with Tailor Made Tags die.  A few Wavy Trim embellishments, and it was done!

My niece, who is two weeks away from having her second baby, hosted Thanksgiving yesterday. They have a beautiful home, already decorated for Christmas!  They switched their dining room and living room furniture to accomodate the 20+ people for dinner:

Her husband is also a chef!  He prepared the turkey and everyone else pitched in sides! It was DELICIOUS!  Lots of fun!  Now we wait for baby!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP654 CAS from Ann

Hello stampers!  It's Sunday and that means a new Paper Players challenge, with Ann as our hostess this week with a fun clean-and-simple challenge:

I love bees! I have lots of bee stuff!  So of course I decided to use a bee on my card, but I had some trouble narrowing it down, LOL!  I first decided to use the sketch from CAS Colours & Sketches:

Then, I chose a subtle pattern of paper from Hackney & Co called Tell the Bees; and went from there:

I stamped a verse from Courage and Faith, and added a mat of gold foil along with some metallic pearls:

The retired Detail Bee die provided my pretty bee; it's gold foil also, and the inserts are actually champagne foil, although it's hard to see here:

Everything went on a Very Vanilla card base that was embossed with the retired Honeycomb embossing folder.  There are lots of occasions for which I could use this card, so I left the inside blank!

I hope you'll play along with our CAS Insect challenge---there are so many possibilities!  And check out the fun creations that the Design Team made as well....they're all over at the Paper Players blog!

Speaking of insects, my sister in SC sent me this photo of a 2 1/4" Giant Leopard Moth that was on her porch on Friday:

AND....I thought you might like to see the bees fighting each other on my hummingbird feeder!  If you look closely, one of the bees is pushing the other bee away with one of his legs....and the third bee is struggling to get his butt up far enough so he can get to the nectar!  I have had LOTS of hummingbirds this year but this is the first time I've seen bees like this on my feeders!  There's enough for everyone!

Thanks so much for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

AYSI302 Trust in the Lord

Happy Friday, everyone, and happy last day of June! Wow, that month zipped by!  I had a little bit of free stamping time today and I really liked Jan's sketch at As You See It:

I needed a sympathy card, so I gathered up my supplies and here's what I came up with:

I always forget that the Bible verse from Courage & Faith, along with the images on each side, are pretty large!!  But after stamping and coloring them, I didn't want to give up, so I used the Countryside Corners dies to cut them out, (running the panel through two times to shorten it) then mounted the panel on some Inked Botanicals DSP and a Lost Lagoon card base.

The words were stamped in Lost Lagoon, the foliage in Soft Seafoam, and the foliage was then colored in with a Blend and some ink.  I added a Lost Lagoon ribbon and some retired gems, then stamped two sentiments from Lasting Joy in the inside:

I also embossed the front of the card with the Leaf Fall embossing folder!  Now, it's off to write some consoling words and pop it in the mail!  Thanks so much for stopping by today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.  Yet if you persist in doing evil, both you and your king will be swept away.

In Everything Give Thanks

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Cassidy is out of school now, so she'll be here in a couple of hours!  So no challenges today, just thought I'd share a card I made with some of the Inked Botanical papers that I love so much, and a verse from Courage & Faith:

The sentiment was stamped in Calypso Coral and the leaf image in Petal Pink, and diecut with the Nested Essentials die.  To give a little interest to the horizontal piece, I diecut a few pieces of Very Vanilla with the Radiating Stitches dies, then pieced them behind the panel.

This was a really easy, quick card to create and with the fall-ish colors, I thought it would be great for a Thanksgiving card!

Thanks for popping in today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS588 Happy Lemon Lolly Birthday

Happy Friday, peeps! It's going to be HOT here in SE PA! We've had a string of absolutely gorgeous weather, so I am not complaining, although we are going to need some RAIN here very soon!  Anyway, I have a very simple card today for the FMS sketch by Jen Mitchell:

I am still getting used to the new colors SU revealed this year, and Lemon Lolly is one that I haven't used much.  I am not much of a yellow fan, so I challenged myself to use it and I paired it with another subtle, Soft Seafoam:

I embossed a half-diagonal panel of Basic White with the Leaf Falling embossing folder, then added the diecut scallop along the edge.  The stamped image is from Timeless Arrangements, stamped in Soft Seafoam and colored with a Blender Pen and ink.  Sentiment is from Inked & Tiled.  I did ad a wee little gem and some really old retired ribbon (I recently "organized" all my ribbons--amazing what I found!) and mounted it all on a Lemon Lolly card base.

Originally I had planned to use these images from Courage & Faith for the front panel but it was too big, so I added it to the inside:

Thanks so much for popping in today---enjoy it and be blessed!

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our "God is a consuming fire." Hebrews 12:28-29
