PP636 Just a Note

Happy Sunday, everyone!  I am the hostess over at the Paper Players this week, and it's time for a clean-and-simple challenge!  This should be a fun one for everyone:

I pulled out a retired set called It Starts With Art and stamped the pens and pencil with some Stazon, then went to work:

I chose the inks of Bermuda Bay, Mango Melody and Polished Pink for the Inspire.Create challenge,

coloring each implement with ink and an aquapainter.  The sentiment is from Stamp Simply.  I added mats of Mango Melody and Polished Pink and the background panels were embossed with Ornate Floral and Typewriter embossing folders. I did add some sequins, which really match better in real life than they look here!

I also used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches:

I hope you'll play along with us this week and stamp something clean and simple with our theme!  Be sure to hop over to the Paper Players blog to see what the design team came up with!  And be sure to share yours with us too!  You might get to be the Headliner!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Follow Your Butterfly

Hi everyone!  Happy Friday!  I have a CAS/Layered card for a few challenges:

Image may contain: indoor

The sketch at Freshly Mades Sketches is lovely; the Card Concept features beautiful butterflies, and the Colour Inkspiration wants Rococo Rose, Seaside Spray and Gold...it says foil, but I used glimmer paper, hope that's okay!  So here we go:

My creative friend Vicky made a couple of cards using an older SU set called Touch of Nature.  She used the bird image (you can see them HERE), and I remembered that I had that set, so I got it out to see if I could recreate her birds....NOT!  But, there was a pretty butterfly in that set, so I stamped it in Stazon ink and watercolored it with Rococo Rose ink.  I already had these little DSP strips cut from a previous project, so all I had to do was to diecut some gold foliage and heat emboss a sentiment in gold on a narrow strip of Thick Whisper White cardstock:

I did add a little twirl of gold thread to create some "movement"....now this will go out in the mail to one of my customers!  And since the Card Concept likes you to define the style of card you create, I am calling this "layered clean and simple"....the base is very clean, but there are several small layers and embellishments!  Thanks for popping in today!

This week is Solanco (Southern Lancaster County) Fair week....it kicks off with a parade on Wednesday night, so Dana, Wayne and Cass went to that.  It was funny, I went into Quarryville on Tuesday morning to drop an entry off at the fairgrounds, and the sidewalks were lined with lawn and camp chairs....apparently if you don't stake out your claim early, you won't get a good view of the parade, LOL!  Dana said people started putting them out over the weekend!

There are lots of vendor booths with giveaways:

And since it's an ag fair, either ice cream or a milk shake is a MUST!

And for some reason, Cassidy really wanted to see the goats!

We'll be going tonight, it's going to be perfect weather and I can't wait!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP453 Back to School

Hi everyone!  It's time for another Paper Players sketch, and Claire is our hostess today!  If any of you know Claire, she used to be a teacher, so this is quite apropos for her as well as this time of the year!!  And I am willing to bet that her students LOVED her--she has the perfect personality to teach those little ones!

I was pretty excited about this challenge too, because it gave me a chance to break out my new set, Check You Out!  It's perfect for the challenge!  I paired it with some school-themed papers from a few years back:

I started with the sketch from Try Stampin On Tuesday:

My bottom mat was some computer paper I stamped with the Writing Notes stamp in Balmy Blue and diecut with a Stitched Shapes square; the other elements were simply stamped in primary colors and fussy-cut:

The sentiment was punched out with a circle punch and backed with a scalloped circle mat.  On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Seaside Notions, which has a really nice variety, the heart from the Check You Out set, and a pencil from It Starts With Art, stamped in Crumb Cake and colored with SU markers:

Cassidy will be nine in a couple of weeks, and will start fourth grade at a new-to-her school closer to home, so I will not be getting her on and off the bus any longer.  Although it's sad for me, because I won't see her as much, I know it will be good for her.  So this will be for her on her first day school; she loves getting mail, and hopefully she'll enjoy opening it!

SO....what will you create for this challenge?  I hope you'll check out all the DT samples on the PP blog, or you can check them out here:

Then share yours with us too!  Thanks for popping in today!

Last week, Cassidy attended a small science camp at our library put on by Glaxo Smith Kline; I didn't get many pictures, but this particular experiment had the kids mushing up Rice Chex with water in a baggie (representing food in one's stomach):

Then putting it into a nylon stocking and squeezing it along the leg, watching what oozed out, (which represented the intestines and how your body gets its nutrients):

Her partner was a boy from karate, so they already knew each other....but it was interesting hearing all the comments, especially from the boys (as you can imagine!).  Next week she will be attending an animal science camp at the University of Delaware, so that should be fun as well!  Can't wait to hear what she has to say about that!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CASCS332 Crafty Thanks

Happy Wednesday, peeps, happy middle-of-the-week day!  Yippee!  I needed a thank you card for a customer, so I checked out some challenges, and the CAS Colours and Sketches was a double this week:

I chose to use current SU colors, so I substituted Rococo Rose for Primrose Petals, Call Me Clover for Emerald Envy, and Soft Seafoam for Pistachio Pudding!  I used It Starts with Art, stamping my images with Stazon Black and softly watercoloring them in:

I kind of forgot about the "clean and simple" portion; I probably should have left off the lacy border that comes with the Arts and Crafts dies, but it was just so pretty, I couldn't resist!  I also added some Rose Metallic Thread behind my image and a teeny sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings:

I added a sentiment and scissors from our other crafty set, Crafting Forever, on the inside:

Such pretty colors and an awesome sketch!  Thanks for popping in today!

Piggy back in the pool!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP445 Follow Your Art

Hi all!  It's Sunday, and time for another Paper Players challenge!  Anne Marie has a fun, cheery color palette for us to use this week:

I hadn't used these "coloring implements" from the It Starts with Art set yet, and I was excited that they have a matching die, so I stamped them in Memento ink and went to work:

I had Blends in Highland Heather and Daffodil Delight, but I had to color the pencil with Granny Apple Green with ink and a blender pen; I still think it came out okay:

I used a piece of retired DSP from several years ago on which to stamp my sentiment, and added some buttons using the dies from the same set, along with a few sequins from my stash!  I also added a little lacy die at the bottom part of the panel.  It all went on a layer of Whisper White, embossed with a Jumbo Polka Dot EF:

These colors just make me happy--fresh and springy!  I hope you'll play along with them as well!  Be sure to check out what the DT did; you can see them all at the Paper Players blog!

We had a little art session with some sidewalk chalk before the bus came; I guess you could say they were following their own art:

It certainly makes the time waiting for the bus go by a lot more quickly!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Stampin Miscellany

Hi everyone!  Yay, it's Wednesday...the week is half way over!!!  I have a couple miscellaneous cards today; the first one is for the color challenge at Inspire Create (and while you're there, you need to check out the card that Karen F made....all the cards are cute, but hers is exceptionally so!):

No photo description available.

I was just sort of playing around with this new stamp set, It Starts With Art, and thought I would use the challenge colors....it didn't turn out too bad, so I decided to finish it!  It's uber-CAS, just one layer, but here we go:

I used markers, ink and an aquapainter to color in the design, but really, the sequins pull it all together!

I am looking forward to playing with this set some more...especially the matching dies!

The next one uses a stamp set from 100 Proof Press, which my friend Colleen always uses and then I feel like I have to have them too!  This uses the CAS(E) This Sketch sketch for this week:

Again, I was just playing around with some inks and scrap paper from my stash, and luckily, it turned out pretty good....so I just kept going!  I diecut the image with a square stitched die, but it didn't look right with the sentiment going across the shells, so I had enough of a scrap to diecut a wee little bit more, butted the edges together and put the sentiment on top.  If you look closely, you can see the stitched line right under the sentiment banner:

I ran a Soft Sky card through the Subtle embossing folder and adhered everything on top.  Aren't these shells pretty?  I resisted coloring them in, but some day, I'll do that!

Thanks for popping in today!

Although I wasn't doing any coloring,  Cassidy was....she is getting Jack and Jill magazine and there are always some art projects in each issue:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
