Colour Q Challenge 31

DSCF7731

Hey, everybody, happy Tuesday!  Check out what Arielle has chosen for the ColourQ’s  cool color combo for today:

cqc31

I was antsy to play with one of the sets from the new mini, July Fourth…..hmmm, these colors don’t exactly look like the 4th of July, do they?  Well, what do you think:

Stars are good ANY time, right?  And I thought they would be great in these colors for a Father’s Day card.  I saw this cool card on Regina’s blog and went to work to adapt it to Arielle’s colors and my theme!  It’s pretty simple…I used a bunch of brads—not hoarding these!—and my star punch to pop these out real quick!  The most difficult part was using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes!  Here’s a view of the card closed:

and you can see the inside view here:

Now, I have to tell you, this was not my first card.  I did another one, but really thought it was a bit too busy.  I will definitely use it for a boy’s birthday, but I just wasn’t real happy with it:

The robots are from a My Cute Stamps set; the “gears” are just circles with little bits punched from the edges; and the background was made by inking up some bubble wrap and pressing on the Crushed Curry cardstock.  The spiral stamp was a blog candy from Kelley; it is from Practicing Creativity.  And THEN I really got on a roll; I made even another one, this time really CAS:

This is probably my favorite! LOL!  Beautiful Wings embosslit and a sentiment from Flight of the Butterfly!  Can’t get any simpler than that!

Be sure to check out all the other designers and what they have come up with using this fresh color palette…you can click on the blinkie at the right and it will take you right to ColourQ!  And we want you to play too!  You might just be chosen the QUEEN!!!  Have a wonderful day!

Color Throwdown #80

swatch 80

Danielle really threw down a challenge with this color combo! I chose to use  Sage Shadow, Really Rust and Bravo Burgundy for my colors.   Normally I would have gone for a floral; I thought about using some digi images and going vintage; then I thought about funky….so here’s my take on fun & funky, CTD-style!  We want you to play too!  Check out all the details on the CTD blog so you make sure you follow the rules, then post your creation on your own blog or online gallery, using CTD80 as the keyword.  Link it using the InLinkz feature so we can all see them!!!  Here’s my take:

This card uses cute images from My Cute Stamps’ Little Forest Friends, and some fun DP from Cosmo Cricket’s Nutmeg line.  The rest is pretty explanatory---it’s a simple card, just a few cuts & pop-ups for some interest!!!

Now be sure to check out what all the other designers did with this color combo---you’ll be glad you did:

Thanks for visiting today!

Mr Roboto

DSCF6688

I saw this FUN card on LeeAnn Greff’s website and knew I had to make one for my nephew’s birthday.  He does robotics through his school, and my brother helps out too, so I hoped he would notice what was on the outside of this card almost as much as he would notice what was on the inside!!!  It was really quite easy, as LeeAnn and her DH make great picture tutorials!

I used a Stampin’Up! sentiment from On Your Birthday, and added some cute little extras from the robot set by My Cute Stamps.  You can see the little nuts & bolts on the photo at the top of the post.  Aren’t they fun?  He really  liked the Diamond Plate embossed background, which is a CB folder.  And I am sure he thought the little dog looked just like his boxer, Peyton!! Right???!!!!

Hey, it is snowing to beat the band here, so I am going to do something fun like stamp or sew or cross stitch while DH is out playing with his snowblower!  Stay safe & warm!

Everything But The Kitchen Sink

DSCF6509

Challenge.....whew, that's a mouthful! This cute little blog has a nice sketch challenge this month:

ebtkssketch3 copy

and the SCS challenge from yesterday was to use a bird; the SCS challenge today was to make a tiny card & treat. Okay, I already messed up the tiny card because I used too many layers...so we'll just forget about that one. So here's my tiny (anyway) card, which neatly fits into the new small glassine envelopes that SU has in the mini catalog:

The card is 2 1/4"x4"; cardstock is Bashful Blue, Basic Black & Certainly Celery; DP is from Cosmo Cricket and the images are from My Cute Stamps. Sentiment is from MFT. I stamped on the little envy with Stazon and colored it with SU markers, then dried it with my heat tool....seems to be staying put and is very cute! Now I NEED to get off the computer, quit playing and get ready for stamp club! Bye!
