IB60 Sending Letters

Happy Thursday, peeps!  It's time for another Inspired By challenge...boy, the week flies by, doesn't it?  Anyway, after checking out Laurel's inspiration photo, I was inspired to do a vintage/eclectic card...I haven't done one of them for a while!  So here we go:

And here is the prompt:

No photo description available.

I searched for some papers that I knew had lots of little letters on it like this...but of course, I couldn't find it!  So I went instead for some papers by Photo Play and My Mind's Eye, stamped some vintage images from various sets and embellished it with a shabby seam-binding bow.  (You can see directions on how to create shabby seam-binding HERE).

And I think my favorite stamped image is this row of vintage pencils:

Do you still write letters?  I have to admit, I send out lots of cards but don't write letters much any more!  It is definitely a dying art!  But I still love pens, pencils and paper!  I hope this will inspire you to create something for our Inspired By challenge this week...can't wait to see it!

Sledding in the snow one week, riding bikes the next...Pennsylvania weather is CRAZY!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Inspired By #40 Neutral Tones

Hello peeps!  Thursday it is, with a new Inspired By challenge.  Here's my take on it:

And here's Laurel's pretty prompt:

No automatic alt text available.

And just for fun, our challenge today is sponsored by Stamplorations!! Woohoo, I love their stamps!  Be sure to check out the details on the IB blog!!!  My card uses a set called Faith Expressions; I stamped the floral image in Gray Granite and colored in the border with a Smoky Slate blend, then added some shading with a Crumb Cake blend:

I added a scalloped border, and stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso directly on some retired SU paper called A Little Foxy that was diecut with a stitched die..  I added an Early Espresso and Crumb Cake mat and some (really old) grosgrain ribbon as well as a couple of candy dots.  Basic and soft, just right for a sympathy or thinking of you card.

The DT has some fabulous samples to show you and I'm willing to bet you'll be inspired to create something wonderful as well!  Share it with us!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

CTD469 and SSC166 Blue Pines

Happy Monday, peeps!  Winding up for the Thanksgiving holiday, we have half-days at school this week, so my posting/stamping time might be a little limited!  I squeaked in a card before I fell into bed last night, using the Color Throwdown palette and the Sunday Stamps sketch:

I was intrigued by those blue and silver pinecones, so I pulled out Christmas Pines and went to work:

The pine branches were stamped with Silver Encore ink; the pine cones were stamped with Marina Mist and Pacific Point ink, then cut out with the Pretty Pines Thinlets:

I added a little sentiment from Stamploration's O Christmas Tree!  The squares are also backed by some silver glimmer paper and embellished with some rhinestone!  Love this color combination!

Cassidy enjoyed giving Grampy his birthday gift and explaining her card to him!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Stamplorations in Orange

Hi peeps!  A quick card today for the Stamplorations CAS challenge with a color twist of orange:

I needed another sympathy card and I really love this Faith Expressions set for these types of cards:

I stamped the image with Peekaboo Peach ink and colored it in with an aquapainter and ink;  I did add some Wink of Stella to the florals for extra shine:

The image was matted with Cajun Craze, and the Bible verse was stamped in Cajun Craze ink.  The ribbon is retired Tangelo Twist.  A quick, easy card!  Thanks for popping in today!

Cassidy found a wooly bear caterpillar on the driveway and proceeded to make a little "corral" for it:

Rather zen-looking, isn't it??!!!  She wanted to give it some exercise, so she got her swing from her dollhouse and gave it a ride!

She is just too funny!  Enjoy your day!

MTS184 Vintage Typewriter

Hi, peeps!  A lazy Saturday and I am moving in slo-mo today!  I needed some generic "Thinking of You" and "Hello" cards, and I thought I would use the Match the Sketch sketch this week to make a masculine one:

I used some new-to-me stuff that I've never taken out of the package!!!  So here we go:

All the stamped images are from a Stamplorations set called Old Type, along with a Tim Holtz embossing folder called Typewriter!  I colored the raised areas lightly with a sponge dauber to make them stand out:

And I stamped the typewriter image on an old piece of SU newspaper-style DSP.  The chevron piece was stamped with a Paper Pumpkin image.  I love this vintage look!

I got two nice cards in the mail this week, one from Martha and one from Vicki!  Here's Martha's pretty one with its inlaid sentiment:

And here's Vicki's; you can't see it well, but it's VERY sparkly!  SO pretty!

And another little project by Cassidy (please don't look at my messy craft area!) featuring the owl punch holding a little sign by his "wings"!  Sorry for the poor picture quality...I am lucky to get her to pose for anything these days!

Enjoy your day, be blessed and be sure to come back tomorrow when I am the hostess at the Paper Players!

Paper Players 328

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Jaydee is our Paper Players hostess today with a sweet clean and simple challenge:

I am pretty sure this is my third attempt at a card for this challenge; I had so many ideas, I just couldn't decide on which one to choose!  In the end, this one won out;

I was inspired by Darnell's NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff!) challenge to use watercolor pencils on kraft paper.  I got this Stamplorations set (Faith Expressions) before Christmas and hadn't inked it up yet, so I got some white embossing powder and SU's White Craft ink and went to work:

I used SU's new watercolor pencils and although they are nice, other than the fact that they have SU color names, they aren't much different than the pencils they had many years ago.  Here, I used Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Early Espresso and Pumpkin Pie.  I blended them with an aquapainter.  I added a little bit of speckle on the card base, a mat of Early Espresso, some stitched Daffodil Delight ribbon and a faith sentiment.  This Bible verse, one of my favorites, is also part of the set and stamped on the inside:

So, I hope you can play with us this week and show us your clean and simple floral creations!  The DT has some spectacular samples!  Be sure to check them out too!

Stamp Ink Paper 80 - Get Well Bird

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I am thrilled that I've been asked to be on the Stamp Ink Paper DT on a permanent basis!  Today's challenge is cardmaker's choice!
Image may contain: text

Honestly, this was more difficult than I imagined, because I have SO MANY favorites!!  My favorite on  any given day might change with the season, my mood or the holiday!  Anyway, I decided in the end on this sweet bird from Red Lead, along with some other images I randomly stamped on some pretty Pool Party-hued paper from Fancy Pants:

It wasn't hard to choose my favorite color, and I love birds, and I love collage stamping, and I love shabby ribbon, so the rest was easy!  There are feathers, eggs, lace and postmarks, all stamped in various shades.....the eggs (Nature Walk) were colored with some ink and a blender pen, cut out and popped up:

I added a tag, also lightly stamped with a honeycomb design:

and the inside sentiment was stamped over the egg image as well!  I never have enough get well cards, so this is beginning my stash!  I'll have the supply list at the bottom!

Just thought I would share a photo from the weekend get-together with John's family!  Here are some amazing women that I am blessed to have in my family:

Me, John's sister Mimi, John's sister-in-law Colleen, and John's stepmother, Trish!  Mimi is a great hostess and we had a wonderful brunch together.  And here are a few of the guys...they seem to be deep in discussion, probably solving the world's problems:

John's BIL Charlie, his stepfather Bob, John, and Dana's boyfriend Wayne!  I think the girls were having more fun than the guys, though, LOL!

Enjoy your day and thanks for popping in!

Oh, Christmas Tree!

Happy Monday, peeps!  The ole blog was a wee bit quiet over the weekend...lots of stuff going on!  I attended a cookie exchange on Saturday--delayed because of snow and sleet--but we made it in the end, and it was wonderful!  So fun to sample others' baked delights and come home with some new homemade goodies!  Unfortunately, the weather has been so cold, I haven't been able to walk outside to work off the calories!  Yesterday I did have time to stamp another Christmas card...actually a thank you card, using some Stamplorations stamps, and I think it's CAS enough to qualify for their December challenge:

Sherry's designs are delightful and she really takes a personal interest in all the orders!  I love this little tree from Oh Christmas Tree, and it comes with cute sentiments too:

I used some papers from Recollections' City Sidewalks line; stamped my tree in a combination of Garden Green and Emerald Envy, trying to match the green in the papers, then added some sequins for some simple glitz:

The background paper was more a pinky-red than true red, so I stamped my sentiment in Strawberry Slush and hand-cut it out.  And it's in the mail, on its way to its recipient!

Cassidy and Dana did some baking at Dana's boyfriend's house:

Wayne got into the act, sharing his artistic culinary talents as well!  Thanks for popping by today!
