More Monochromatic

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Yesterday was, without a doubt, one of the most depressing, rainy days I ever experienced.  It just rained and rained and rained.  I only got a little stamping time last night so I broke into the new color, Pretty Peacock, which is very pretty...reminds me of Tranquil Tide but darker!  I haven't played with the Mojo Monday sketch since Julie brought it back, so I thought I would give it a whirl:

I used the pretty sentiment from Stitched All Around along with one of the birds from the May Paper Pumpkin, stamping them both in Pretty Peacock.  I layered some of the In Color DSPs, some Dotted Tulle ribbon, and finally, a little diecut border:

The Stitched Nested Labels fit the sentiment perfectly:

And I just love this DSP....especially those scripty words!

And since I had some leftover scraps, I made another card, same papers, dies and stamps, just a different layout, and this time, I added a couple of faceted dots:

I can't wait to pair up this pretty hue with some other colors!

Cassidy got a little steppingstone kit for her birthday last year, and Dana helped her mix up the ingredients to create it:

She enjoyed putting the little glass pieces around in a pattern:

And the final result looks very sweet in their little flower bed, along with the doggie statue, LOL!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Paper Players 440 Best Friends

Hi stampers!  Yay, it's Sunday and time for another Paper Players challenge where the talented Jaydee is our hostess with a wonderful theme:

At first, I thought I didn't have many "friends" stamps, but as I looked, I realized I had several sentiments...not so many images, but these little buddies from the retiring Bella and Friends were perfect:

I stamped them on thick Very Vanilla cardstock and colored them with SU Blends, then die-cut them with the Stitched Rectangle die.  My sentiment is from Apron of Love, and I added a few little hearts from the Be Mine dies:

I stamped some additional sentiments (Stitched All Around) on the inside, and added a few more hearts:

My layout is very loosely based on this week's Freshly Made Sketches sketch; my image was pretty big, so the sketch sort of got lost in the interpretation, but it is there!  I used some retired Pretty Petals DSP for my background....love that stuff!

And I just realized that I didn't put the sentiment where it belonged...sigh.  That's what happens when you try to do something from memory!  Oh well!  I hope you'll play along with us at the Paper Players this week, and meanwhile, check out what the DT did as well:

Cassidy recently got her green belt!!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CTS319 Many Thanks

Hey peeps!  Happy Tuesday, and the last day of April!  I made a quick card yesterday for the CAS(E) this Sketch sketch:

Again, I am trying to use up some of my DSP, so I used some Animal Expedition for the lower corner, added some washi tape....stuff that I buy and rarely use, so I am trying to use it up, too... a few stamped sentiments, and a fun circular element from Stitched All Around:

Just for fun (and since I already had the stamp in the Stamparatus), I stamped the element again on a little scrap of DSP and fussy-cut it out to adhere to the top!  I also added a little black circle beneath the diecut!  It only takes a little bit of extra embellishment to step up your stamping!

And I promised to show our projects from Saturday's party...the hostess loves Halloween and wanted to do some watercolor techniques, so this is what we made:

We used some retiring stamps and dies, and learned about loose and controlled watercoloring with an aquapainter.  The wood crate contains a few Lindor chocolates wrapped in orange foil; when I went to buy the candies just before Easter, the clerk at the CVS said to me, "You know you have the wrong holiday, right?" I am sure she thought I was a bit batty!  Thanks for popping in today!

Cassidy went to an overnight church camp....and they had her favorite for lunch:  mac and cheese!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Paper Players 439 Sketch from Claire

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Hope you're having a good weekend so far!  It's time for another Paper Players challenge with Claire as our hostess, and she's given us a lovely sketch to work with:

Like everyone else, I still have a big stash of beautiful DSPs in my files, and the new catalog will be out soon with even more new patterns and colors coming, so I am trying to use some of it up!  The Share What You Love Specialty paper is so pretty, with all it's loose florals, so I chose these patterns and the Stitched All Around stamp set to make a birthday card:

The elements in Claire's sketch are pretty large, but I didn't want to hide that pretty background paper, so my vertical strip is made from vellum, embossed with the Subtle embossing folder.  I stamped the sentiment in Mint Macaron and diecut it with the gorgeous die from Stitched Labels; and can you see the Mint Macaron rhinestones?  I colored them with a SU blend!

My final additions were a little fussy-cut flower tucked down on the bottom portion of the panel, and the sentiment diecut with another die from the Stitched Labels set:

I also backed my horizontal panel with a Tranquil Tide base and added a little tiny strip of striped paper to tie all the colors together!  I wonder who will receive this card on their next birthday??

I hope you'll play along with the Players this week...this sketch is full of possibilities!  Check out what the DT created:

Before I go, I wanted to share a photo of the some of the "girls" in my church small group; we got together and visited one of the girls who doesn't drive in the evening, so hasn't been able to come out to group.  She recently lost her husband as well, so to cheer her up, we brought lunch and created a card!  My friend Robyn is an experienced stamper, so she helped out as well!  They used the Big Shot, Wink of Stella, and the Stamparatus, as well as the Jar of Love set:

And here's the card we made!  They all did a fabulous job and had fun, too!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB56 Your Special Day

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Hope your week is going by nicely!  It's time for another Inspired By challenge, and I chose to make one with some eclectic elements in unusual colors, for me, at least:

And here is Laurel's prompt:

So I would say this is more of a masculine-themed prompt, but I turned it into more a feminine creation!  I focused on the blackboard image for my sentiment; in trying to use all my current SU stamps backwards from the end of the alphabet, this is from Stitched All Around.  I stamped it on SU's (retired) blackboard paper in craft white ink, added some banners, hearts, twine, another sentiment from the same set and a "wooden" blackboard frame

It was fun adding all the little elements here and there...I jazzed it up with a silver glimmer heart and a few little epoxy dots as well:

Since there was a little greenery in the photo, I mounted it all on a Pear Pizzazz card, added a sentiment on the inside, and this will go in my birthday card stash!

The design team has some interesting takes on this challenge...be sure to check them out at the Inspired By blog, then share your creation with us as well!  Can't wait to see it!

Cassidy had been bugging me to make a backpack for her Ethan doll; my sewing area was buried under stamping stuff but I finally found a few minutes to clear off a space and dig out my sewing machine.  Originally she wanted one with a zipper, but I found a pattern that was a little simpler, so I went with that, using a pair of Grampy's old jeans for fabric:

I used the hem of the pant leg to make a pocket and some retired SU ribbon for the straps!  She quickly went to get a teddy bear on which to try it (Ethan was at home):

And it fit!  She told me she even put some sticks of gum in the pocket, LOL!  If you'd like to see the pattern, you can find it HERE!

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Fab Friday 151

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I have a couple of cards today using the Fab Friday sketch:

They always have such great sketches, don't they?  I originally had embossed this Merry Merlot card base to make a Christmas card, but I needed a birthday card for my niece, so I changed gears and stamped the flower from Flourishing Phrases in Berry Burst, added some embossed stitched lines and a pretty sentiment from Stitched All Around:

I added a scallop of some retired Sweet Sugar Plum glimmer paper and a glimmer enamel dot for some sparkle:

and finished it off with some glimmer ribbon as well:

My second card is a thinking of you/get well card for a friend who's going through a rough patch with some health issues!  This went together quickly with some Bo Bunny Petal Lane papers and a heart die from the Sweetly Stitched Framelits:

The sentiments inside and out are from Treat Time; I did a little fussy cutting for the inside one:

Thanks for popping in today!

Yesterday was my dad's 89th birthday; he is still battling some health issues but he did have dinner with us! He also told me there wasn't room for all 89 candles on his cake, LOL!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP411 Two Easy Card for Jaydee's Sketch

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Hope your weekend is going well!  Jaydee is our Paper Players hostess today and she has a fabulous sketch that is fun and easy:

I actually made two cards with this sketch, and I used the gorgeous Petal Promenade DSP for them; these papers are so pretty, it's easy as pie to make a card in a snap.  And I'll give you a little hint to help you with matching up those angled pieces!  So here we go:

I used both sides of one selection of DSP; you can see the sketch looks great going either way!  To get perfect cuts, cut two pieces of DSP (mine were 4" x 5 1/4"), then flip one over and stack them together.  So you'll have two pieces but different sides will be facing up.  Cut them at the angle you choose; I didn't use any mathematical calculations, I just stuck them in my cutter and went for it!  Just make sure your pieces are stacked evenly!  When you take them apart, you'll see how they match nicely....tada!  Each card will have the same sketch but the patterns will be reversed.  For both cards, I used a sentiment from Stitched All Around, stamped in Blushing Bride and diecut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits:

I cut a narrow strip of Sweet Sugar Plum glimmer paper to put behind the "seam" for a little glam!  On the next card, I turned the sketch, and I also trimmed a wee bit off of each short edge of the DSP so that the glimmer paper would show through a little more:

These are so pretty, I didn't add a single thing more as an embellishment!  I finished it by stamping the other large sentiment from the set on the inside!

The DT has come up with a fun array of samples to get your creative juices flowing!  Please be sure to share yours with us as well at the Paper Players!  You can check the DT samples out here:

AYSI180 A Garden Birthday Sketch

Hi everyone!  Happy Friday...and it's time for another As You See It challenge, this time it's a nice little sketch:

The DSPs from Garden Impressions  have so many pretty patterns, it's hard to choose which ones to choose!  For today's card, I finally decided on this abstract pattern in cool blues and greens:

I added layers in Soft Sky (I know it's retired, but it looked good with it!), Blueberry Bushel and Very Vanilla as well as a banner cut from a different DSP in the same set.  The Soft Sky oval was embossed with the little stitched design from Stitched Labels, and the horizontal sentiment panel uses the same set of dies:

I stamped a sentiment from Stitched All Around in Tranquil Tide, then stamped a little floral from Perennial Birthday in Blueberry Bushel, colored it with Blends and fussy-cut it out.  A bit of baker's twine finishes the embellishments!  And I combined both sets for the inside sentiment as well:

I hope you'll play along with our pretty sketch...lots and lots of possibilities for creativity with it!  Be sure to share it with us at As You See It!

Speaking of gardens, I thought I would share just a couple of our zucchinis....most of them I have managed to pick before they got to this size!  I could use these as weights and get some bodybuilding in!!  So happy you stopped by....enjoy your day and be blessed!
