PP426 HB2U

Hi everyone!  Sunday means Paper Players time, and Jaydee has a sweet sketch for us:

My great-nephew Sawyer has his first birthday coming up, so I found some fun animal-themed papers and pulled out my sadly-neglected Owl punch and my also-sadly-neglected Labeler Alphabet stamps to make his card!!  Here we go:

Mr Owl was punched out of a scrap of Early Espresso; his vest was decorated with some hand-drawn "plaid" with a Cajun Craze marker, and I added a little candle from a retired set called Sweet Stuff:

I added the "H B 2 U" along a branch, diecut with the Seasonal Layers Thinlets, then added a sentiment from the Sweet Stuff set on the inside of the So Saffron card:

So what will you create with this sketch?!  It's a great basic sketch, be sure to check out the PP blog to see what the designers came up with...some beautiful creations there...and share yours with us too!

And here is a rare photo of our wee little ginger-haired birthday boy---rare because he is SMILING!  As long as he is in his daddy or mommy's arms, he's as happy as can be!  I know it's just a phase, but we all would like to have a chance to hold him, LOL!

And I don't think I shared this family photo, taken the evening before my dad's funeral; you can see Sawyer down at the bottom with his brother Jameson (who has a candy cane in his hand, not a toothbrush!!).  Everybody looks pretty good except for Cassidy, who has her eyes closed, and my BIL Jim, who is standing behind my sister...all you can see of him is his glasses on top of his head!  We got a good chuckle out of that!

It's been an emotional weekend....enjoy your family and tell them you love them...you never know what tomorrow might bring!  Enjoy your day and be blessed as well!

IB32 Cool Treats

Happy Thursday, peeps!  I hope you're having a good week so far...it's been hot here, but perfect weather for the pool!!  Thank goodness for generous neighbors who let us come swim in theirs, LOL!  Today's Inspired By challenge is a cool one too; here's my interpretation:

And here's Laurel's prompt:

Now, I've never had Jersey Jack's gelato (which you can't even get in New Jersey; it's from Australia!), but you can be sure I have had LOTS of regular old ice cream...in fact, this cone would be my idea of heaven!! I worked at an ice cream shop in high school and all my coworkers warned me that I would be sick of ice cream by the time I quit....nope, not me!  I love it!  This image from Unity Stamps was a lot of fun to stamp and color in with my blends!  I mounted it on a piece of gingham, diecut with a MFT Wonky Stitched die, and topped it with a little Real Red Glimmer paper cherry!  We've got pistachio, chocolate marshmallow, black raspberry, orange sherbet, lemon, mint chocolate chip and mango!  Yum!

I made a little tag with a Tags and Labels die after stamping a sentiment from a retired SU set called Sweet Stuff; I embossed it with white embossing powder and filled in the letters with a  little chalk pen:

The Powder Pink card base was embossed with the Tufted embossing folder...it sort of looks like an ice cream cone, doesn't it?!  Yum!  I hope you'll play along with our challenge this week...it's a sweet one!  Thanks for popping in!

Our niece's inlaws have a farm not far from our house and we get our eggs there.  Cassidy makes a beeline to the calf barn where about (honestly) thirty to forty cats make their home as well!  It's hard to see, but under the tree to the right are about six or seven just chillin' in the shade!

Inside, she latches on to one...she knows I always say "no" when she asks to take one home, but she can come play with them any time!  Check out the little one peeking out from behind the trash can:

And here's a pair peeking out from the bushes....they have black and white ones and a couple of Siamese as well!

I am 99% sure there are NO mice on this farm, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Paper Players 343 Sweet Treats

Hi everyone!  It's Paper Player time, and I am the hostess this week with a "Sweet Treats" challenge:

For my card today, I found an ice cream cone image in the retired Sweet Stuff stamp set, and since I have seen many posts about "no-line" watercoloring (stamping in a soft color so that the outline doesn't show), I thought I would give it a try with my cute little cone!

I am not sure this was the best image on which to try this technique, but I gave it a go, and perhaps I'll try it again with a floral image or something!  Anyway, I realized I had a Tim Holtz Distress pad in Antique Linen, so I stamped it in that and colored it with some Pink Pirouette, So Saffron and Crumb Cake inks.  I went over the face and arms with a black marker and although you can't see, I added some sparkle with a Wink of Stella pen:

My Cards & Coffee class enjoyed this little fun fold card last week, so I thought I would do one again, this time using some fun papers from my stash and a big glimmer paper frame!  Here's how it looks unfolded:

And you can find directions for it from Natalie's blog HERE.  Finally, I used the cutout portion of the glimmer paper to frame the inside sentiment:

The DT has some yummy samples for you to check out, and I can't wait to see what you create that's yummy, and with NO CALORIES as well!  You can find the links here:

Just checkin' out the horse and donkey on a bright spring day!

CCMC414 and PPA308 Birthday for Emma

Happy Saturday, peeps!  I took a couple days off from my blog and went to visit my dad at the Delaware shore!  It was a nice little break!  But today we have a birthday party for my niece's youngest....she is an Irish twin!  I had never heard of that expression before, but little Emma and her older sister Lucy will both be one year old for about six weeks, until Lucy celebrates her second birthday in August!  My niece is a trooper, keeping up with these two!  They're adorable!  Anyway, I thought the colors from Create with Connie and Mary were fun and fresh:

And I matched them up with the Pals Paper Arts sketch from my sweet friend Ann:
ppa308

I realized I don't have many "kids" stamps, so I pulled out my old standby, Storybook Friends, and some new Fruit Stand papers:

I stamped the image with Stazon and added some coloring with markers, then a sentiment from the same set at the bottom, along with one from an older Paper Pumpkin set at the top:

I made a "faux" candy dot with a little circle stamp and some Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers!  I also stamped the same dot and a little flower from Itty Bitties on the DSP!  Finally, the inside was stamped with a sentiment and candle from Sweet Stuff.  Oh, and I did add a Tangelo Twist ribbon too!

At one year old, I am sure Emma will be more interested in her gift than the card, but it was still fun to make!  Thanks for popping in today!

Cassidy is still on vacation, but I did hear she finally learned to ride her bike without training wheels!  Woohoo!

Paper Players 250

DSCF0552
Happy Sunday, everyone!  I hope you have some fun Father’s Day plans made!  Claire is our hostess with the mostest today, and she has a cool clean and simple challenge for us this week:

I just loved the little ice cream cone from Sweet Stuff and was so sad it didn’t make it into the catalog this year, but I kept it because I knew I could use it again, and sure enough, it was perfect for Claire’s challenge:

I stamped it in Stazon on Shimmery White paper and did some watercoloring, then added some sparkle with a Gelly Roll pen:

I stamped him again on some Cherry On Top DSP and popped him up, then added some scallops and banners for the Match the Sketch sketch this week:

I did turn my card sideways as the image and banners fit a little better!  The sentiment on the banner is from All Boxed Up, which I LOVE---so many great uses for those sentiments---and the inside is from Cottage Greetings:

Don’t you just love the font?  And I must tell you, this card features SU's new heavyweight cardstock!  It is so awesome!  Very sturdy and great for card bases.  I just love it!

Now, what will you create for our clean and simple challenge?  Share it with us at the Paper Players blog and be sure to check out what the other designers created as well:
Cassidy dressed herself to go see her Daddy, and she wanted everyone to see her Chick-Fil-A puppets!

DSCF9809

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I have a fun little card today using Try Stampin’ – Or Not -On Tuesday’s sketch for this week!  Here it is:

This sketch is particularly meaningful because it’s my first day on the Try Stampin’ - Or Not - on Tuesday DT!  I have played with their sketches almost every week, so I am happy to be a part of their team!  And I hope you’ll play along with their sketches, and check out their Facebook Page as well!

I have a confession…this paper is one of the first papers I ever bought when I began stamping!  It’s probably at least 15 years old!  I guess I might have been hoarding it…what do you think?  Anyway, I did cut into it and I am glad I did!  The gingham panel was stamped in Daffodil Delight with a Papertrey Gingham Basics stamp, and overstamped with a sentiment from Sweet Stuff.

I punched out some daisies and a made a ladybug with a couple of circle punches and the dots from Festival of Trees, hand-drawing the antennae:

I think this is such a happy creation!  And I hope you’ll play along!
We had a lovely Mother’s Day on Sunday, probably the nicest one I’ve ever had!  My extremely creative daughter crocheted a big basket for me, and I wish I could capture it better in my photos, maybe I’ll try again later and take it outside, but here it is:

Not only did she teach herself to crochet, she made up this pattern all by herself!  So impressed!  I have LOTS of yarn that I can fit in here!

Easy Peasy CTS117 and CYCI64

DSCF9040

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  Phew, what a weekend!  Easter, lunch with family and friends, the Ringling Brothers circus…plus my computer decided to eat all my work-related files as well as crash my Picasa photo database.  Sigh…technology!  Blessedly, I was able to restore them all, but I was sweating it for a while!

Cassidy put herself down for a nap yesterday (she’s got some sniffles) so I was able to STAMP!  Woohoo!  Just a real simple card for my friend whose birthday is coming up; I used the color challenge from Can You Case It:

CYCI#64

and my sweet friend Lesley’s sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch:

I must admit, this is not the most glamorous card I’ve ever made, but it needed to be quick and easy, and this little cupcake from Sweet Stuff fit the bill perfectly!  I stamped it in Stazon on DSP in the challenge colors, stamped it again on my white panel, cut out the cupcake papers, adhered them, added glitter, sequins and a sentiment, and it was DONE!

Don’t they look good enough to eat?  Yummy!

So here are a few pix from the circus; my small camera just doesn’t do well (or maybe it’s the user, not sure) in low light, so I don’t have too many.  But we really had fun; I think John had the most fun of all!
