PP470 Fluffy Little Frosty Snowman

Happy Sunday, peeps!  AND Happy December!  Woohoo!  Laurie is our Paper Players hostess with a sweet, fun theme challenge:

How cute is this little snowman?  He reminded me of a Penny Black snowman image I had, so I dusted it off, inked it up in some Weathered Wood Distress Ink and did a wee bit of watercoloring to give him some life:

For my layout, I used the Paper Craft Crew Card sketch:

Vertical Sketch Challenge with square in bottom left corner with designer series paper background on bottom one-third of the card.

I stamped my little snowman on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock, trimmed out the top of his hat and then ran it through the Big Shot with the hat placed OVER the top of the die.  I then colored him with Balmy Blue, Garden Green, Flirty Flamingo and Pumpkin Pie inks and an aquapainter:

I found a couple of background papers in my stash that I thought would look good together; the blue paper even had some foil-printed snowflakes already on it!  Perfect!  I added some Silver Foil swirls and snowflakes and adhered a few silver sequins as well.  The sentiment is from an old Whippersnapper set, and believe it or not, this is NOT a Christmas card...it's a birthday card for a special someone who has a December birthday!  So I stamped this on this inside:

along with another little snowman in the corner, from the same Whippersnapper set!  I love snowmen!

I know there are lots of you out there that just love snowmen, so show us what you create at the Paper Players!  And meanwhile, check out what the DT has created over at the PP blog!  Thanks for popping in today!

Cassidy hasn't worked on her loopy-yarn blanket for a while, so I was happy when Dana sent me these pictures!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PCC338 Remembering Jerry

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Today is our town's annual Memorial Day parade, and John will be marching in it once again!  Blessedly, the weather is beautiful, although we'll probably be HOT by the time it's over!  I won't complain, though, I promise!

We lost a dear family friend earlier this week; he had developed dementia and his body just gradually forgot what it was supposed to do.  His wife was a classmate of my dad's, so I always enjoyed talking to her as she is one of the sweetest ladies I know. She was really heartbroken when my dad passed away; they were class reunion buddies!   It's been a rough few months for all of us.  Jerry served in the Navy and the Air Force, so I wanted a sympathy card to honor him for his service as well as offer condolences.  Artistic Outpost's Hero set came to mind, so here we go:

I used this sketch from Paper Craft Crew:

I stamped the "hero" image in Night of Navy on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, then added a layer from Authentique's Original collection which featured a white and navy weathered look.  I embossed another plain layer of the same collection with the Star embossing folder, added a red and white striped ribbon and a Real Red punched star:

I managed to get the sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings stamped on the little tab at the top of the paper, then used a narrow banner die to cut it out:

I did add some silver thread behind the image, but since it was a masculine-themed card, I didn't want to go too overboard with embellishments!!  I am also adding this to the Color My Heart Color Dare challenge this week:

Thanks for popping in today--be sure to stop back tomorrow when I will be the Paper Players hostess!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

My little helper!

PCC325 Hello Little Bird

Happy Friday, peeps!  To offset our gray, dreary weather, I have a fresh springy card for you today using the Papercraft Crew sketch along with some pastel colors:

Paper Craft Crew Vertical Card Sketch Challenge with large rectangle and smaller rectangle and a small circle. PCC325

I have not used Best Birds in a long time, so I inked up this little guy with some Stazon black ink and watercolored him with some Soft Seafom and Pool Party inks to kind of match the flowers on the Share What You Love Specialty DSP:

I put a little stitched rectangle of Soft Seafoam behind him, stamped with the little hatch stamp that is in the same set, and added a sentiment from Beautiful Bouquet:

Some burlap ribbon, a few faceted gems and some embossing on the white panel finished it off!  Sweet as a spring morning!  Thanks for popping in today!!

This evening is Cassidy's father/daughter banquet and she had her dress here with me so I could do a few alterations on it.  After she tried it on, for some reason, she laid it out on her bedroom floor!!!  So here's a peek at it:

It's beautiful!  We have other plans this weekend so hopefully Dana will share some pictures with me and I'll share them with you next week!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Christmas Cardinal

Hi peeps!  A Christmas card for you today, for four challenges!  I loosely used the Paper Craft Crew's sketch for this week, and the theme from Merry Monday is to use a bird:

Paper Craft Crew Sketch 216! PCC216 You are invited to play along with this weeks sketch. Open to ANY products. www.papercraftcrew.com

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration's challenge is to use washi tape, and the Christmas Card Challenge has an  "Anything Goes" challenge!  So here we go:

This cardinal image is an Itty Bitty stamp from Unity.  It was stamped in Real Red on the same paper as the background DSP, which is from Kaisercraft's Silver Bells 6x6 pad.   I added some washi from my stash (very old!), some Tim Holtz holly leaves diecut from silver glimmer paper and a sentiment from Sweet & Sassy stamped in Smoky Slate:

Another card for my stash!

And another batch of goodies from the giant Halloween box...some REALLY COOL shaker stickers (Grammy might have to confiscate these for herself!):

A fun little glow-in-the-dark ghost hand sanitizer:

and sour patch pumpkins, which she shared with all her Sunday School class!

Thanks for popping in today!

Paper Players 316 Bless Your Heart

Happy Sunday, peeps!  I hope all of  you in the southeastern part of the country are safe & sound! Sunday brings us another Paper Players challenge!  Sweet Sandy is our hostess with a seasonal color palette today:

I combined it with the sketch from Paper Craft Crew:

TWO WEEK - Paper Craft Crew Sketch 214! You are invited to play along with this weeks sketch. Open to ANY products. www.papercraftcrew.com

to make a thank you card for a fellow demonstrator who hosted a shoebox swap yesterday:

I originally had a Halloween card made for this, but decided to try to use the colors for a non-Halloween card!  I had Jars of Love on my desk, so I started stamping and die-cutting...I also used some elements from Touches of Texture.  I remembered my Paper Players teammate Nance saying that you can stamp off photopolymer stamps on a tissue, so I used that idea to stamp the background foliage so it wouldn't overpower the main foliage:

I stamped the smallest jar in Wild Wasabi and mounted it on a circle, both of which were stamped with the texture stamp from Touches of Texture, also stamped off.  I assembled everything on a  piece of Festive Birthday DSP and added a sentiment from Jars of Love and a wee bit of black and white Baker's twine:

I did add a couple of sequins, too....just for fun!  And I cannot stop using this sentiment from Basket of Wishes...it works for so many occasions:

I sure hope you'll play along with our challenge this week...and check out the fun creations the design team came up with:

Thanks for popping in today!

PCCCS196 Thanks

Happy Tuesday, all!  Back to the normal routine today after a marvelous holiday weekend!  I can't remember a long weekend where we had such great weather and were so relaxed!  I was so relaxed I almost couldn't get motivated to stamp!  But I had seen this fun sketch so I decided to play around with some elements I already had laying on my desk!  This sketch is from the Paper Craft Crew:

Welcome to the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch Challenge 196. Play along at www.papercraftcrew.com #papercraftcrew #cardsketch

You might remember this card; I was playing around with the same floral image from the All About Everything Paper Pumpkin set, but using different colors (these are from the ColourQ 343) and had these left over on my work area, so I combined them with a vellum flower diecut and some gold twine:

I embossed the vellum with the Perfect Polka Dots EF on the "lightest" setting so it wouldn't cut through the vellum.  The sentiment is from Watercolor Wishes, and banner's ends were cut with deckle-edged scissors and colored with a gold Zig Painty Pen. I also added some Gold Encore speckles with Itty Bitty Backgrounds:

The DSP is a little scrap of Pretty Petals and the heart and circular mat are gold foil!  Thanks for popping in today!

I love this shot of Cassidy coming through the flower bed on Sunday morning before church.  She was retrieving one of her dolls who slept overnight outside, LOL!  What you might not notice is that she is wearing my sneakers!

The grass was wet and she didn't feel like going inside for her boots, and Grammy's shoes conveniently happened to be on the porch!

Enjoy your day!

Baby Boy Card

Happy Thursday, peeps!  When I saw the Stamp, Ink, Paper challenge yesterday, I was disappointed, because I didn't really need any baby cards:

SIP Theme 45 800

Then a notice popped up in my inbox that one of our church families just had a baby!  Yippee!  So I went to work:

I used a retired Project Life card to cut my Pear Pizzazz panel, using a Chalk Talk die; the banner is some retired DSP, and the sentiment is from Itty Bitty Banners.  The stamped stars are from Holly Jolly Greetings, and the star diecuts are from Simon Says Stamp and My Favorite Things. I used the colors from ColourQ and the sketch from Paper Craft Crew:

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 192

Now my only problem is that when I double-checked my email, the couple had a GIRL....duh!  So you'll have to come back tomorrow to see that card, LOL!

Meanwhile, check out my be-spectacled girls....yep, Cassidy got glasses yesterday!

Enjoy your day!

Paper Players 272

DSCF2992 - Copy

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Laurie is our hostess at the Paper Players this week, and she has a lovely sketch for us.  I think I might have to pin this one for future reference!

I am still making Thanksgiving cards…..I can send them out tomorrow and they’ll still arrive in time, right?!  I pulled out the lovely, sadly retired, Truly Grateful set and some retired DSPs and went to work:
LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Paper Players 272 Truly Grateful Stampin Up - Copy

I stamped the wheat bundle in Hello Honey on a stitched tag from Simon Says Stamp, then stamped it again and cut it out, sponging it and popping it up with dimensionals:

DSCF2993 - Copy

It looked a wee bit plain, so I added a little Soft Suede ribbon tied with some Linen Thread to match my Soft Suede banner.  I cut out a stitched banner (same die set) in Pool Party and isolated just the word “Thankful” with a marker to stamp on top.  My Hello Honey panel is matted with some Cajun Craze cardstock and the whole shebang was mounted on a Hello Honey card.  I found this sentiment in my Harvest Home set, stamped it in Soft Suede on the inside and used my Versamark pad to stamp the wheat again in a lighter tone.  I love this look:

The “Happy Thanksgiving” is from last year’s Paper Pumpkin kit!  I have gotten a lot of use from that little set!  I am also entering this in the Papercraft Crew Challenge #171, which is a theme challenge of giving thanks!

I hope you’ll join along with us and create something with this wonderful sketch!  You can see everyone’s creation here, or visit us at the Paper Players!
Last week we found a slate-colored junco and a wee little mouse, both of whom had met their demise somewhere near our house…thankfully not IN the house!  After a few tears (Grampy told her the mouse went to mouse heaven, at which she replied “There is NO mouse heaven, Grampy!”), we had a little burial for both of them, complete with blanket!  She insisted on digging with her own shovel, although Grampy did have to help her with that:
