Retro Rubber 37

Hi peeps!  Two posts in one day, can you believe it?!  Today is special because the girls at Retro Rubber have asked me to be a guest designer!  Woohoo!  I love using my "retro" stuff!  This week they have a sketch for you:

Since we have finally been having such lovely spring weather, I chose some Close to My Heart papers called Skylark (probably two years old....I've been hoarding it!) and a set from Pink Paislee that I have had for over a year, featuring all kinds of vintage ephemera to celebrate!  Can you tell which is stamped, and which is printed on the paper?!

It's hard to tell, isn't it?!  Most of the words on the paper are printed on, but I did stamp a couple word images in Sahara Sand near the bird, as well as the words "Wonderful & Kind, Shine, and Smile as the bottom:

I also diecut some leaves (My Favorite Things) from the same DSP collection and adhered them to the branch, and the "hello" is from SU's Greetings thinlets, using Early Espresso cardstock.  I cut a couple of banners from scraps of DSP, and added a ruffle of ribbon (retired SU) and it was done!  I love this sketch...it is open to all kinds of creative interpretation!  I sure hope you'll play along!  You can see all the samples at the Retro Rubber blog!

We made some cupcakes yesterday...of course, decorating them is the best part!  She did very well spreading the icing on:

Adding M&Ms:

Well, come to think of it, maybe eating them is the best part!

Enjoy your day!

Paper Players 280 Yellow Bird

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Wow, can you believe it is the last day of January?!  I am excited to spend some time today with my club hostesses!  I stopped my clubs temporarily, so this is a chance for me to reconnect with them and show them my appreciation.  But first, it's time for the Paper Players, and Jaydee is our hostess today with a fun Tic-tac-toe challenge!

As soon as I saw "birds", I knew that I would be using that bottom horizontal line for my card!  It gave me a chance to use lots and lots of images, papers and elements for my eclectic card:

Hello Honey and Basic Black are the main colors I've used, along with some MME Sunshine papers.  I've used a plethora of stamps, including Red Lead Paperworks' Bird,  SU's Timeless Textures, Crafty Secrets Birds, Simon Says Stamp Grid Background, and a stamp set from Pink Paislee that has no name on it...it just has lots of vintagey French ephemera and cool uplifting sentiments!  I added a wee bit of watercoloring to my bird, and a shabby seam binding bow, along with a diecut zigzag edge:

A couple of banners, one in champagne glimmer paper, and a sweet little sentiment:

And you can see the Grid background stamped in white, along with some other textures and bird images!  Oooh, I had so much fun making this card!  My desk was a mess but I was HAPPY!

I didn't make this card for any particular occasion, so I left the inside blank...when the need arises, I can add the appropriate sentiment!  Now, let's see how the other designers used the tic-tac-toe grid!  Check them out:

And I hope you'll play along with us as well!

Cassidy is "potty training" her little boy baby doll Liam (who is anatomically correct, which makes for some interesting scenarios!) and she made a Potty Chart, with 100 spaces on it.  Amazingly, he got all 100 check marks on his first try, LOL!  We should all learn so quickly, right?!  Enjoy your day!

Happy Thursday, everyone!  A three-challenge card today!
LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Butterfly Collage Stampin
I used the Freshly Made Sketches sketch from Linda:
The inspiration photo from Stampin’ Celebration 77:
And the butterfly challenge from the Card Concept 7, where I used the "Shabby Chic" style:

I used several different images from Pink Paislee, SU’s Nature Walk, and 100 Proof Press, stamping them collage-style on a Naturals Ivory panel and matting it with a So Saffron panel trimmed in Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  I stamped the butterfly again in Stazon Black and watercolored it with So Saffron ink, then mounted it on a vellum scalloped circle that had been pierced in a circle:

Since this card is going to someone who is going through a very difficult time, I added my favorite CHF verse to the inside:

ColourQ199

DSCF6643

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  It’s time for another cool color inspiration from Arielle at ColourQ:

Isn’t this gorgeous?  I would not have room for this in my house—doesn’t match my décor—but luckily I can play with the colors on my card!!!

I saw a wonderful card this weekend by Deb Fearns and I set out to replicate her hexagon treatment!  I just loved it!  I inked up the raised portion of my hexagon embossing folder and “stamped” my card stock.  Worked like a charm!  What a cool idea!  Thanks, Deb!  I added a little tag with some collage-style stamping and a raised bird diecut:

I am also entering this in the “Tie it On” challenge at the Kraft Journal this week!  I can’t wait to see what you create with these pretty colors and inspiration.  Share them with us at the ColourQ blog!  Have fun!

Cassidy is riding the boats at Funland on the boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware….where I took Dana when she was little, and my parents took me!

Paper Players 131

DSCF2717

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Are you ready to watch some football?  I will forego the SB for my beloved Downton Abbey…..although we are so close to Baltimore, I am sure I will be cheering on the Ravens at some point during the day!

Nance is our hostess for the Paper Players today, and she wants us to make a sympathy card:

I had been playing around with some beautiful MME papers and they were still on my desk, so I paired them with a pretty Pink Paislee stamp set to make a soft, subtle sympathy card:

PP131-LeAnne

I stamped the collage images in More Mustard and Sahara Sand, and the sentiment from Blessings From Heaven in Primrose Petals.  This also uses the CAS(E) This Sketch sketch #13 for this week:

Since I used this for yesterday’s card also, can you tell how much I love it?!!!   My final little embellishment is a flower I made from some crepe paper, you know, the kind that comes in a roll and you hang it for party decorations?  It was sitting a little bin at my local Habitat for Humanity thrift shop, so I snagged it, thinking I might find a use for it:

I used two sizes of Blossom Nesties and smooshed it all around a brad from my stash.  Unfortunately, I DO need this card as our retired minister has passed away;  he served the Lord right up until the very end, and I know his family is rejoicing as he is now with Him in heaven!

I hope the others’ cards will inspire you to create something for our Sympathy challenge….you can see them all at the Paper Players blog!

We are working on potty training with a fairly good success rate!  Of course it helps if you are prepared for quick action:

Our Creative Corner Resist Challenge

Hello, peeps!  I apologize for the lateness of this post.....I am away for a few days and you know how things go when you're not in your regular routine!  Anyway, I was asked by the sweet gals at OCC to be a guest designer for Our Creative Corner today---and what a fabulous challenge they have:  a resist challenge with a twist!  You can read all about it here!  The "resist" part is any type of resist stamping technique, and the "twist" is to use wings!  I used some pretty Pink Paislee stamps along with a musical background stamp, heat embossed on glossy white paper in clear EP and sponged in various shades of pink, as well as a beautiful butterfly stamped on vellum!  What do you think:

I used Pink Pirouette, Regal Rose and Raspberry Ripple for my colors, and my butterfly is embellished with some rhinestones.  The banners are also vellum and are attached to some sweet little ribbons!

I hope that you will find this challenge ir"resist"able and play along with us.  Be sure to check out what the other designers have created at Our Creative Corner as well!

Here's a little pic from last week of my DGD eating a "watermelon popsicle"....something I saw on Pinterest!

CQC139 Meets RS13 Meets OCCC

 DSCF0973

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Back to the work week!  Arielle really challenged me today with this color/inspiration:

cqc139

This looks exactly like a shirt my DD would wear; it’s her colors and style, but not really mine.  I wracked my brain trying to come up with a floral image in my collection that would work with this.  Alas, my vintage heart won over, and even though the girls at Retro Sketches really go for clean, modern lines, the little rebel in me chose their sketch:

to highlight my shabby collage-style creation:

CQC139-LeAnne

And since it’s shabby, it also qualifies for this week’s Our Creative Corner challenge as well!  Woohoo!  I used a Crumb Cake base here, and my tag from Two Tags was cut from a page of Authentique’s Genuine Collection.  I added some stamped florals in Bashful Blue on the tag, a sentiment in Night of Navy, and some vintage images on the card in Crumb Cake.  All stamps are from Pink Paislee’s Spring Jubilee.

 DSCF0974

I dyed some seam binding in Rich Razzleberry for my shabby bow, corralled by an Antique Brad, and added a couple of little hearts:

DSCF0975

This is going to a special friend as a sweet little thank you for something nice she did for me!  Now I hope that you can find some inspiration from this modern image and colors, and share your creation over at the ColourQ blog.  Your latest submissions have been fantastic, I’m telling you….it is getting harder to pick a winner each week!  While you’re there, be sure to check out what all the other fabulous designers have stamped!!

If you remember on Mother’s Day, Cassidy wanted a pickle, but after tasting it, gave it back to me!  She tried again, though:
