PP368 Christmas Wreath

Hi peeps!  It's Sunday, and that means another Paper Players challenge!  This one is a tic-tac-toe from the amazingly-talented Jaydee!  So many good choices on this board, I didn't know where to start!  In the end, I chose the middle row across:

I had a piece of this Be Merry DSP already cut, laying on my desk, so I decided to use it as a background for my card; I hope you can see the white-on-white wreath!!:

I had planned to lay my sparkly wreath, made from the Swirly Scribbles and Pretty Pines dies, directly on the striped paper, but it really got lost, so I added a white mat for a cleaner background.  Here's a closeup of those glimmer paper elements, and a little tag with some sparkly baker's twine:

To make adhering these elements easier, I first pulled the paper backing off all the glimmer paper pieces before adding a layer of adhesive sheet.  This makes it thinner and easier to run through the Big Shot as well as easier to remove the die on the intricate pieces.  I also added a glue dot and really strong glue to the back of the tag, as my dimensional did not want to stick to the glitter!!!  Keeping my fingers crossed it all stays together, LOL!

The design team created a plethora of gorgeous creations with this challenge; I hope you'll check each and every one out, give them some love, and then share your creation with us as well:

The "kids" went to the Sea Witch Festival in Rehoboth Beach, DE, and Dana shared Cassidy dressed in her JoJo outfit....I am having trouble handling this rockstar persona, LOL!  But she does sparkle! I think the shoes make the outfit, don't you?!  Good thing they zip up the back!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Vintage Nature Walk

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  We survived the big storm...it wasn't really much of a blizzard, a few inches of snow and lots of sleet!  Gave me some time to spend in my craft room, though!  I created a vintage sort of card, one I haven't done for a while, and it incorporated three challenges:

The Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration sketch challenge, the Retro Rubber challenge and the SU Only Challenge of Things That Fly!

RRCB 58

I pulled out one of my favorite stamp sets, Nature Walk (January 2011) and paired it with Tiny Tags (January 2010) for my vintage creation today:

I don't remember the name of this DSP, but I am pretty sure it came out around the same time as Nature Walk; I added some additional "flying" things, stamped directly on to the DSP with Marina Mist ink, in the form of bees and butterflies:
f

I stamped the bird with Versamark and Marina Mist ink, then heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder so I could watercolor him a wee bit with Marina Mist ink.  I did some diecutting to mount him on a stitched circle and scalloped square, then added my embellishments:  leaves, paper button, little tag, burlap, lace and stitched ribbon trims!

Remember this button die?  It's one old die I will never part with!  I cut out the button three times and adhered them together, then stamped it with the woodgrain image from Timeless Textures...it really looks like wood!  I did the same thing with the Flourishes leaves:

I left in the inside blank; I could use this as a get well or a birthday card, or just about anything!  Love this little bird!

We went out sledding yesterday but the wind was pretty wicked and raw, so we didn't stay out too long, but we got in a few good rides! Cass & Dana almost ran into a tree, but it was still fun! At least we got a chance to use the new sled I just bought to replace the one I broke last time I went sledding, LOL!

Enjoy your day!

Paper Players 241

DSCF9366

Happy Sunday, peeps!  It has been a glorious weekend here in Pennsylvania, hope it’s been great where you are too!  Nance is our Paper Players hostess today with an awesome clean and simple challenge:

Woohoo!  Anyone who reads my blog might know that I love to watercolor…so why was this challenge so “challenging”?  I am not sure, but this is the third card I made and I am still not real happy with it!  I wanted to do something similar to the blinkie above, but in the end, I just went with a line drawing and did my usual watercoloring!  I did choose an unusual color, because I don’t usually use Real Red unless it’s a Christmas card!  So here we go:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Paper Players 241 Vermillion Stampin Up

I thought it would be fun to use a bird on my card because I have been enjoying watching the birds at my feeder lately, although I doubt very much I will see one of these!  This is a retired stamp called Young Vermillion, and I really wasn’t sure what color a vermillion was!  So I googled it and a Vermillion Flycatcher is red….very, very red!  So that was my inspiration!  I stamped him in Stazon on watercolor paper and diecut him with a Lil’Inkers Stitched Circles die after coloring him with some reinkers and an aquapainter:

I did some background stamping with Real Red ink on Real Red cardstock, added a seam binding ribbon and a little tag from Tiny Tags and put it all together, quick and simple!  The design team has some really lovely samples they’ve put together too!  Check them out below, and be sure to share your CAS watercolored creations with us at the Paper Players!

Speaking of birds, I heard a racket outside my kitchen window recently, and two red-bellied woodpeckers were fighting at my feeder!  I snagged this photo of the victor (sorry it’s not clearer, it was through the screen!):

Isn’t he a beaut?  And my own little nature lover, feeling MUCH better, and playing outside:

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Another green card today, this one with more of a vintage feel!  I used the Freshly Made Sketches sketch:

and the Take Your Pick challenge at The Kraft Journal; my choices were green, white and button:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Crafty Secrets Vintage Spring Wishes

I used a Crumb Cake cardbase and added some layers of DSP from a DCWV seasonal card stack.  I found a cute little Irish lady image from a Crafty Secrets Seasonal Booklet and trimmed it to fit my card.  I added a little Naturals White banner, stamped with a sentiment from Papertrey and a little floral image from Tiny Tags, then finished it off with some natural ribbon and a Very Vintage button tied with Linen thread!  Thanks for visiting today!

Cassidy has just started gymnastics, and the gym had a demonstration for all the parents….it was packed, and I did not get any good pictures.  I did snag this one (she was being held up by one of the spotters) on the small bar; she was too afraid on the higher one!  But all the kids got a medal, and she was thrilled with that!

Twice Blessed For The Paper Players 217

DSCF5613

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Time for another Paper Players challenge, and Ann has a wonderful seasonal color palette for us featuring three of SU’s newest In Colors:

Aren’t they wonderfully fallish!?  I pulled out my favorite (sadly retired) fall set, French Foliage for my card today, and I CASEd a style I saw on Pinterest lately; you can see Lyssa’s card here.  Normally I try not to CASE something here when I do my challenge card, but it was so striking, I couldn’t wait to try it!  Here you go:

Lyssa stamped her flowers on a sheet of Typeset DSP but I had an old botanical book I picked up at a thrift shop, so I tore out a piece of that and began stamping my leaves on it.  Actually, I’ve used a bunch of sets on this card!!!  (I’ll list them all at the end)!  My diecut is from Papertrey, and I cut it from a piece of Mossy Meadow to which I adhered a piece of adhesive sheet; then when I pulled the diecut out, I just peeled off the adhesive and the whole thing was very easy to attach! Everything else except the twine is SU.  I used my Envelope Punch Board to create the tab for the top and I added some stitching around the sides, as well as a little diagonal embossing on the corner:

DSCF5611

Despite a few little issues going on in our household, this pretty well sums up how I am feeling these days….blessed!  And this also qualifies for the Shopping Our Stash challenge, which is fall colors, and the As You See It challenge, which is also fall!

Now, when I pulled out the sentiment, I was left with this negative piece; blessedly, I had centered it pretty well on a little strip that already had a little scallop popped out of it, so I went to work again, loosely using the CAS(E) This Sketch sketch for this week:

My sentiment is not in quite the right spot, but I just love how this turned out:

I used the gingham from Six-Sided Sampler to make the center of my flower, and a little retired die called Merry Details for my bird!  Isn’t he cute?!

I sure hope you have as much fun with these colors as I did…can’t wait to see what you come up with!  Be sure to check out all the samples from the DT as well:
A couple weeks ago I came into my craft room to find this little scene:  a piece of ribbon, a pin cushion and several pins!

Cassidy told me she was making a dress for Cinderella…if you remember the Disney movie, the mice decorate a dress for Cinderella with pins, ribbons and bows!    Hmmmm….maybe sewing lessons are next?  Enjoy your day!

Pretty Pennants Thank You

DSCF9086

Happy Saturday, peeps!  We are headed out to a Veteran’s Breakfast this morning, then just puttering around the house, cutting some cardstock and getting ready for some classes!  How about you?

The Paper Craft Crew had a nice sketch this week:

130523 PCC Sketches v2-007

and Hand Stamped Sentiments had a yummy color challenge:

so I combined the two for a pretty little thank you card:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Pennant Thank You Card

All the pennants were stamped with the Tape It set, and I cut them out freehand, either using a scallop or circle punch or die for the edges.  Then I had fun!  I punched out some shapes from silver glimmer paper and other cardstocks, as well as some images from Papillon Potpourri and Itty Bitties to embellishment my pennants:

My final addition was a little sentiment from Tiny Tags!  Such a fun creation!  This also qualifies for the Shopping Our Stash challenge, which is “thanks”!

Cassidy looks quite industrious here, but she just couldn’t handle the rake!

Paper Players 151

DSCF5916

Hey, peeps!  Its Sunday---and what a glorious weekend we’ve been having!  Nance is our hostess today and she has a fun sketch for us all:

This is my third card for my weekend party, the anniversary card I gave DH’s sister and BIL:

PP151-LeAnne

I feel a wee bit bad that I haven’t been playing around with my new SU goodies too much, although this card does have a brand-new stamp image on it!  But I have so much fun stuff left from last year’s catalog, I felt I had to use some up!  These papers are from Birds of a Feather, and I thought the two little “love birds” were appropriate for my anniversary card!  I stamped the “love” from Tiny Tags; the sentiment was done in My Digital Studio, and the little hearts were punched from the new Kind & Cozy set!  I was thrilled that the hearts fit the small heart punch perfectly!

DSCF5917

They were stamped in Primrose Petals and Raspberry Ripple, then adhered and popped up on my focal panel!

What fun creation can you come up with using Nance’s cool sketch?  Can’t wait for you to share it with us at the Paper Players!  Be sure to come play along and check out what the other designers made with this sketch as well!

Having a tea party is serious business:
