SSC218

Hi everyone!
Just another quick post today as I am technically "on vacation"! I loved the Stamping 411 sketch this week and since I still have apples on my mind from the storm, I thought this image would be appropriate!

The image was stamped with Stazon ink and watercolored with various reinkers; backgroun was stamped with Woodgrain. If you have any other questions, email me! Off to spend some time with DH and my dad!

ColourQ 100

WOW!  Did you catch my heading?  ColourQ is celebrating their 100th challenge!  In honor of this momentous event, Arielle is teaming up with Clean & Simple Stamping and highlighting their Fall to Layout sketch this week:

cqc100

In addition, we get to use our favorite past ColourQ combo.  Now that’s not possible to use just ONE, because I have tons of favorites!  But I did pull out one I had never used before, from way back when Arielle first started, CQC14.  Here ya go:

cqc14

The florals on this little dress jumped out at me—they looked like the florals from Fabulous Florets and Array of Sunshine.  So what do you think:

CQC100-LeAnne

I made my own designer paper with the various images from those two sets, masking off the flowers as I stamped.  The two Orchid images had an empty center, so I stamped a little flower from Itty Bitty Bits to fill them in.  The sentiment is from Pennant Parade and fits perfectly in a little flower punched from the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch.  I had to keep reminding myself that it was supposed to be CAS, so my only other embellishments were some buttons!

I sure hope you will play along with us for this extra-special occasion!  Fly on over to the CQC blog to see all the deets as well as what the other designers came up with this week.  It’s sure to be fun, seeing all the different combos!  Thanks for visiting!

Post-Hurricane!

DSCF6443-1

Well, the worst of Hurricane Irene has passed through our neck of the woods, although it is still very, very windy!  Other than a couple leaks in a bedroom ceiling, so far we are doing well.  I am being lazy today and treated myself to some additional stamping time before I jump into “clean-up” mode!  I got some new stamps and used them for this sketch challenge:

And I used this gorgeous color inspiration from the Play Date Cafe:

And here’s my creation:

This also fulfills the Just Add Ink challenge this week, to use something from your stash….I think I have had this DP for about two years, LOL!  If you’ve got any questions about the card, just shoot me an email!

I also took some time to CLEAN up my stamp area:

And here are a couple pictures from our yard after Irene:  a downed branch in our back yard;

The only thing is, is that they weren’t quite ready yet!  But we’re safe & sound so that’s really all that matters!  Hope you are too!

Paper Players 61

DSCF6398-1

Happy Sunday, everyone! It’s time for another Paper Players challenge, and it’s another sketch for you, this time by Jaydee:

PP61 Banner

Hmmm, I can see lots of possibilities with this one! I am trying to a: make sample cards with new sets for my clubs and classes, and b: make Christmas cards! So this fits the bill for both:

PP61

This is another image from Easy Events; I used the same technique as last week’s card, embossing the outline image with Pear Pizzazz , Versamark and clear embossing powder, this time coloring in the image with a blender pen. I added some glitter too:

DSCF6397-1

I actually used my Scallop Edge Border & Corner punches to make a frame for my Cherry Cobbler Patterns panel—I haven’t used them in quite a while! It makes a pretty backdrop for that new quilted ribbon from the upcoming mini, and a Build-a-Brad:

I hope that this sketch gives you some creative ideas and you share them with us! Be sure to check out the Paper Players blog to see what all the other designers have come up with!

Vintage Santa

DSCF6434

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Hoping to get this in before the storm hits, which certainly changed our family’s plans this week!  Anyway, I made a real quick Christmas card (are you tired of them yet?) for three challenges:

SFF082611

And here it is:

DSCF6435

I only have one banner, I hope that’s okay!  Sticker is from Tim Holtz; sentiment & snowflakes are from Holiday Sampler, an older SU set.  Check out the little bells:

DSCF6437

SWEET!  They’ll be available from the SU mini catalog on September 1!  I attached them with two strands of embroidery floss and a very slender needle…easy peasy!  Thanks for visiting today!

PPA108

DSCF6416

Thank goodness it’s Friday! My card today is for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge 108, which is to soften the edges, CAS style!

PPA108

We were to round some corners or soften the edges of something on our cards!  I used the Top Note die to make some round-edge embellishments for my really CAS card:

DSCF6417

as well as rounding the edges of a Beau Chateau Side Note:

DSCF6419

The note itself actually says “Family” but I wanted this for a birthday card, so I stamped a sentiment from Bring on the Cake on watercolor paper and attached it right over the existing sentiment.  I also stamped the French script from French Foliage right on top of the Beau Chateau designer paper.  Finally, I added some lace, ribbon and button trim.

On the inside, I used the remaining Top Note panel with a birthday sentiment:

DSCF6420

and I added some more French script to cover up a “booboo”—can you see it?  A little shadow from the edge of my rubber---grrrr, I hate that!  I got my Craft scissors out and trimmed that baby off after I saw that!  Hopefully the recipient will be so thrilled with her card that she will not notice the smudge!

I hope everyone on the East coast is bracing for Hurricane Irene.  My father lives along the coast in Delaware and I believe he will have to evacuate, so I am preparing for that, if only for a few days.  Plus the baby has developed thrush in her mouth, so we are dealing with that as well as teething!  I am praying we can have a good day and I can find lots of things to distract her from her discomfort!  Have a blessed day!

Wee Details:

  • Stamps:  Bring on the Cake, French Foliage
  • Paper:  Watercolor, Crumb Cake, Beau Chateau Designer Paper
  • Ink:  Soft Suede, Crumb Cake
  • Acc:  Top Note Die, Beau Chateau Side Notes, Daubers, Victoria Lace, Baja Breeze Seam Binding Ribbon, Neutrals Button, Linen Thread

CCMC164

DSCF6410

Well, between torrential rain, thunder, lightning (and don’t forget the earthquake on Tuesday!!!), I did manage to get a little stamping time in this morning while Cassidy took a good nap! This was originally for the Pals Paper Arts challenge today, until I remembered it was supposed to be CAS!  Oops!  I’ll post that one tomorrow! I used the sketch from Create with Connie & Mary:

CCMC164

and broke out my new Spice Cake designer paper:

DSCF6411

I had tons of fun with this card!  I cut some wide striped ribbon and made a little fringe; I added some sparkle to my leaves from Day of Gratitude, and added some glimmer brads for a little bit of shimmer:

DSCF6409

I just love this color combo, too!  Thanks for visiting today!

Stamp Camp!

Just a quick post with cards from a couple recent Christmas stamp camps:

Using a couple oldie but goodie stamps:

DSCF6389

This uses a new stamp from the upcoming mini called Sounding Joy.  The idea came from Cindy Major:

Pennant Parade with retired Sage Shadow, CASE’d from Renee:

A nice easy one using the Northern Flurry embossing folder:

DSCF6393

And we didn’t make this one, but I was playing around with the new Snow Burst embossing folder and the Snow Much Fun set and made a little 3x3 card:

DSCF6394

I forgot to add my watermarks to these, sorry!  And my wee GD was feeling much better yesterday!
