TMS654 Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Hi peeps, happy Friday!  I have a quick, fun little card using the retiring Sweet Ice Cream stamp set and the Tuesday Morning Sketches sketch!  It features the Mackey family's FAVORITE ice cream flavor, mint chocolate chip!  I say the Mackey family because neither John nor Wayne like it...hahaha, more for us girls!  Anyway, here's the sketch:

And here's the card:

I started with a piece of Hand Penned DSP that features a stripey Mint Macaron design, and "stitched" the edges with the Stitchery zigzag stamp.  I stamped the ice cream in Mint Macaron and decided to add a  Soft Suede "chocolate" dip as well!  I added some chocolate chips, then punched them both out and set them atop a Crumb Cake cone!  They were all mounted in a Basic White circle diecut with a Stitched Shapes circle, then a mat of Early Espresso and scallop mat of Mint Macaron.  The sentiment was diecut with the Stitched So Sweetly dies.  I did add some Wink of Stella to the ice cream and sprinkled on some starry sequins:

I had cut apart the birthday sentiment a while ago because I like to be able to "stack" the words on top of each other instead of using them lengthwise.  The photopolymer stamps are easy to cut apart and just as easy to line up again if you want to use them in their original position!  I stamped these in Mint Macaron and it was done!  Thanks for popping in today!

And I am also entering this at Festive Friday, since I have food, birthday, punches and pastels in my card!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AHS470 Be Still

Happy Thursday, peeps!  I hope you're having a great week so far.  Unfortunately, I needed another sympathy card for a family at church, and the sketch from Atlantic Hearts was perfect.  Here's the sketch:

I recently got some pretty papers from Kaisercraft called Pen & Ink; they have vintage designs, so I pulled a few out to make this:

I used four different patterns from the pad; the butterfly one has shiny black embossing on it, which really gives a cool effect!  I added a little scalloped border of Sahara Sand, a bow of Linen Thread, and a border of stamped gingham.

I stamped a Bible verse at the top, then diecut another panel from the butterfly print and added a black scalloped mat and a couple of Metallic pearls:

On the inside, I stamped a verse from a Papertrey set, along with a butterfly from Positive Thoughts, which I wish I had done differently, but hopefully the recipient won't mind how odd it looks, LOL!

I like the neutral, calming colors in this pad....so soft and pretty!  Thanks for popping in today!

Ever hear of a spaghetti taco?  Apparently it's a thing!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TCC174 Spring Flowers

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  It's time for another beautiful Card Concept challenge, where you get to tell us the "card concept" you use to create your card!  Here's the prompt that Julie has for us this week:

Isn't this a pretty garden?  And house?  Although it would take a lot of nerve for me to have a pink door, LOL!  But in the stamping world, we can have anything we want!  I didn't do a pink door, but I did use Magenta Madness as a focal point for my Clean and Layered card, so here we go:

I just used the Jar of Flowers last week, but what a surprise, it worked for my card today as well!  I didn't quite know what ink to use for stamping the outline, as I did not want black, but I found one of my distress inks worked very well with watercoloring....I tend to forget that I have a few of those inks!  This one happened to be Weathered Wood, which is a sort of blue tone, and it worked nicely with the palette of the challenge.

I used Magenta Madness, Highland Heather, Balmy Blue, Soft Seafoam and Old Olive for my flowers, fussy cutting them out after watercoloring them on watercolor paper.  I also watercolored the stems, and hid the seam under the sentiment from Eden's Garden.  My Magenta panel was embossed with the new Fern EF, and the white panel was embossed with Timeworn Type.  The card base is the retired Almost Amethyst, which seemed to work a little better than the darker purple shades we have now.  On the inside, I stamped a verse from Our Daily Bread Designs:

For embellishments, I added some Polished Pink Open Weave ribbon and a sprinkling of sequins from my stash.  I also used the "CASE the Designer" challenge from Global Design Project:

Sadly, this card will be going to Julie, the creative genius behind The Card Concept, as she lost her dear husband earlier this week after a very long illness.  I hope it brings her comfort!  Thanks for visiting today....I hope you'll play along with us and share your creation, and its concept, with us at The Card Concept!  And I thought I'd share a floral arrangment left from the funeral at our church on Sunday, as well as some more flowers from the conservatory at Longwood; their colors match the prompt so well, I just had to share!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RRCB181 Tic Tac Toe Bunny

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Time for a new Retro Rubber Challenge, where we get our older stamps inky and show them some love!  We have a Tic-Tac-Toe grid this week; check it out:

I chose to use the right column down of patterned paper, bling and twine, but it also works for the top row across of watercolor, rectangle and patterned paper!  So here we go; I used a SU stamp called Storybook Friends from 2012:

I am always scrambling for children's birthday cards, so I thought this would be a good way to create one!  I stamped my bunny twice, once on a piece of Basic White cardstock, then again on Thick Basic White, watercolored her and fussy-cut her out, popping her up on some dimensionals:

I added a Petal Pink diecut heart and stamped the sentiment separately on a scrap of white and diecut it with the new Stylish Shapes dies.  Finally, I added some Sparkly Organdy ribbon and a little rhinestone on her magic wand.  The card base is Basic White and I used some retired Birthday Bonanza DSP!

I just think she is so sweet, she's going to be hard to part with, LOL!  What will you create with our grid this week?  Just remember to use stamps at least a year old and tell us the approximate age.  You may be able to get some help from Splitcoaststampers if you can't remember how old your stamps are...they have a gallery section that lists lots and lots of stamps by manufacturer, including Stampin' Up!  Thanks for visiting today!  And be sure to pop over to the Retro Rubber blog to see what the other designers created as well!  Thanks for stopping by today!

These handsome little guys attended their great-aunt's funeral on Saturday at our church where I was helping with the luncheon.  Jameson looked very nice in his corduroy jacket and tie; Sawyer was dressed casually because, as Jameson said, "He's too little to go to a funeral" so he went with a friend to a ball game!  So cute!  Jameson also said to his mom after she told him their aunt passed away..."Mommy, you shouldn't be sad.  Aunt Loie is with Jesus now." A sermon in a sentance from a seven-year-old boy!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP588 Sketch from Joanne

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Time for a new Paper Players challenge, and it's a FUN sketch from the amazing Joanne!  Easy layout, a pattern of THREE, I love it!  Here's the sketch:

I just got a fun new stamp set from Lawn Fawn called Baked with Love, and I thought this would be a good sketch on which to get those stamps inky!  So here we go:

I stamped, colored and diecut the elements, positioning them on some gingham squares, then added a sentiment from a retired set, Sweet Stuff:

I added some Wink of Stella on the cupcake...I wish it would show up in the photograph!!  And here's the inside sentiment, from the same set:

This was such a fun card to make, and the sketch is one I'll be using again for sure!  Check out what the design team did with it at the Paper Players blog...you'll be inspired to share yours with us as well!  Thanks for popping in today!

Friday was such a gorgeous day, I just had to go to Longwood Gardens; I had not visited for quite a while.  Apparently everyone else in the world thought so too...I had to park in the Christmas overflow area and be bussed in!  But despite the crowds, it was still delightful!  Here are the tulip beds:

The colors are just amazing!!  I'll have more soon!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Now then, my children, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways.  Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not disregard it.  Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.  For those who find me find life and receive favor from the Lord.  But those who fail to find me harm themselves; all who hate me love death.  Proverbs 8:32-36

AYSI273 Sympathy in Blue

Hi stampers!  Time for a new As You See It challenge, and it's a color challenge, chosen by me!  I just love blues!  So here we go:

Unfortunately, I needed a sympathy card, so I chose to use my blue hues with the Butterflies & Flowers mask (stencil), using my Blending Brush with each of the three colors on a Basic White panel:

I heat-embossed a retired sentiment in white on Pacific Point for my sentiment, then cut it out with the new Stylish Shapes dies; it went on the panel which was also diecut and mounted on a scalloped panel of Night of Navy:

I used a card base of Balmy Blue and a white mat, embossed with the Ornate Flowers embossing folder...sadly retiring.  It makes such a lovely floral background!  My final addition was some pale blue sequins from my stash and a white baker's twine bow!  My sketch came from FMS:

I hope you'll play along with us.  The design team has outdone themselves with this color palette...they've used them in some surprising ways!  Be sure to check them out at the As You See It blog!  Thanks so much for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

TTTC158 Christmas Snowflakes

Hey, everyone!  Time for a new Tic Tac Toe challenge with Team X at the helm!  Here's our grid for you:

I chose the middle row across of Layers, Patterned Paper, and Embellishment to make my card this week...a Christmas card!  Here we go:

I started with some snowflake paper from my Welcome Winter (Carta Bella) 6x6 pad, and added a strip from another piece that featured various snowflakes.  I diecut some white snowflakes and Sahara Sand squares to go under then, then added rhinestones in the center of each one, and a simple sentiment.

The Stitched Snowflakes dies that I used also had an embossing panel, so I embossed the inside panel and added a sentiment from Wrapped in Christmas, stamped in Misty Moonlight:

I used the sketch only from Try Stampin On Tuesday:

Now, I hope you'll find something in our grid that tickles your fancy!  Please share it with us over at Tic Tac Toe, can't wait to see it!  Thanks for visiting today!

It may be 40 degrees outside, but true to our Mackey genes, we love ice cream any time!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TMS653 Sorbet Sunflower

Happy Wednesday, peeps! My card today is bright, you'd better put on your sunglasses!  It uses one of SU's new In Colors, Sweet Sorbet!  I paired it with Celebrate Sunflowers and Jar of Flowers for a fun thank you card for one of my customers!  Here we go:

I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches:

I started with some new Sweet Sorbet DSP, cutting out a section with a Stitched Rectangle die, then flipping over the cut-out piece and cutting it with the next smaller size down die.  I stamped the jar from Jar of Flowers in Pool Party, then added the smaller sunflower stamped in Sweet Sorbet and Soft Succulent (for the leaves).  I colored in each section with a blender pen, then mounted them on a circle that was embossed with the Dots EF:

I added a sentiment from Ornate Thanks, a wee bit of Soft Succulent ribbon and some In Color Matte Dots to finish it off!  I think it's fun to use a floral image in a different color than expected!  I am trying to get used to the new colors....they're a little intense for me, but I am sure I will warm up to them.  Thanks for visiting today!

Can't ignore Dana and Wayne....although it looks like Wayne has a big pirate's earring, it's really his sunglasses strap, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AHSC469 Slimline

Happy Tuesday, all!  I have a slimline card for you today, courtesy of Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge:

I gave my new Nature's Prints a whirl, stamping the little foliage image in Soft Succulent and mounting the three panels on some Hand Penned DSP....I am really going to miss these pretty papers!  Here we go:

After stamping, I diecut the images with the Layering Circles dies, then added layers of Soft Succulent (Stylish Shapes dies) and Evening Evergreen (Layering Circles).  I added a small diecut from the coordinating Natural Prints dies:

and a sentiment from the retiring All Things Fabulous along with a Genial Gem:

And here's the inside:
