Follow Your Butterfly

Hi everyone!  Happy Friday!  I have a CAS/Layered card for a few challenges:

Image may contain: indoor

The sketch at Freshly Mades Sketches is lovely; the Card Concept features beautiful butterflies, and the Colour Inkspiration wants Rococo Rose, Seaside Spray and Gold...it says foil, but I used glimmer paper, hope that's okay!  So here we go:

My creative friend Vicky made a couple of cards using an older SU set called Touch of Nature.  She used the bird image (you can see them HERE), and I remembered that I had that set, so I got it out to see if I could recreate her birds....NOT!  But, there was a pretty butterfly in that set, so I stamped it in Stazon ink and watercolored it with Rococo Rose ink.  I already had these little DSP strips cut from a previous project, so all I had to do was to diecut some gold foliage and heat emboss a sentiment in gold on a narrow strip of Thick Whisper White cardstock:

I did add a little twirl of gold thread to create some "movement"....now this will go out in the mail to one of my customers!  And since the Card Concept likes you to define the style of card you create, I am calling this "layered clean and simple"....the base is very clean, but there are several small layers and embellishments!  Thanks for popping in today!

This week is Solanco (Southern Lancaster County) Fair week....it kicks off with a parade on Wednesday night, so Dana, Wayne and Cass went to that.  It was funny, I went into Quarryville on Tuesday morning to drop an entry off at the fairgrounds, and the sidewalks were lined with lawn and camp chairs....apparently if you don't stake out your claim early, you won't get a good view of the parade, LOL!  Dana said people started putting them out over the weekend!

There are lots of vendor booths with giveaways:

And since it's an ag fair, either ice cream or a milk shake is a MUST!

And for some reason, Cassidy really wanted to see the goats!

We'll be going tonight, it's going to be perfect weather and I can't wait!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RRCB115 Best Wishes

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Hope your week is starting off great!  It's time for another Retro Rubber challenge, and I kinda freaked out when I saw the colors:

Image may contain: flower, text and nature

I just love those little Johnny-jump-ups, but PURPLE is a challenge for me!  Everyone else seems to be able to work with it in such a lovely way...but I struggle with it!  But, that's why they call these challenges, so I put on my big-girl panties and went to work!  There was a lovely little set called Touch of Nature from the 2005-2006 Winter Mini catalog, and I felt the colors would work well with the colors.  I stamped the butterfly and flower in Stazon ink on watercolor paper, and colored each of them in:

The thicker watercolor paper really lends itself to fussy-cutting; it's a little more work than regular cardstock, but if your element has intricate pieces like these antennae, they hold up better than on lighter-weight paper.  I took a piece of Soft Seafoam gingham DSP and stamped the leaf image from the set all over in a random pattern, then cut both the floral piece and the gingham piece with Stitched Rectangle dies:

All the pieces went on a Very Vanilla card base and I added a few sequins for fun. On the inside, I stamped the leafy image again, and added a Paper Pumpkin sentiment on top.  I think my front sentiment is from a PP set, too!

And since these images were watercolored, I am entering this in the Festive Friday challenge this week:
#festivefridaychallenge, #FF0038, Parent's Day, Watercolor cards

Hopefully, my fear of purple turned out okay...what do you think?  And hopefully, you'll play along with us this week!  I've actually seen several purple and yellow creations out and about on blogs over the last couple of weeks, so I know there are crafters out there who aren't afraid of purple, LOL!  Share your creation with us at Retro Rubber!  Remember, you just have to use stamps that are at least a year old, and tell us how old they are!  See ya there!

A little beachy fun with Cass and her friend:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
