RRCB190 Autumn Tags

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Time for the last Retro Rubber challenge of August...and sadly, my last challenge as well! I absolutely loved my time on the DT because I love my older stamps and I always loved the challenges Jane comes up with, but I've decided to step down, but I'll still keep playing along!  Anyway, here's our fun challenge:

Tags are always fun and a great way to add some interest to a card!  I had some really pretty Prima autumn papers I was hoarding and thought I'd put them to use by creating some tags with them, using the fabulous Tailor Made Tag die:

I did do some stamping, embossing and "grunging" on the Crumb Cake layer; the Close to My Heart set called Autumn Blessings is from around 2019.  I stamped some pumpkins in the same color, then stamped the sentiment on a scrap of the printed paper in Early Espresso and diecut it out:

I also stamped and watercolored a single pumpkin and mounted it on the left tag, and diecut and watercolored three Lawn Fawn stitched leaves for the other side.  I added some ribbons and sequins, and ran the mat through the Timeworn Type EF before adhering it to a Crumb Cake card:

A little different way to make the printed papers work!  What will you make with a tag, or more than one?  Can't wait to see what you create!  Check out the samples from the DT, then show us yours over at the Retro Rubber blog.  REMEMBER--your stamps must be at least a year old, and you must tell us the approximate age!  Thanks for popping in today! I am also taking a little blog break for the rest of the week!  See you next week!  Enjoy your week and be blessed!

AYSI282 Hello Baby

Happy Friday, peeps!  Time for a new As You See It challenge and this is a fun one!  Look at this little cutie:

Not many babies being born in my family lately, but I did see Dana crocheting a blue baby blanket for a friend of hers the other day, so I am thinking I may give this to her!  Here we go:

My sketch is from Atlantic Hearts:

I used some "oldies but goodies" stamps for the main image:  A to Z, Teeny Tiny Wishes and Every Little Bit, colored with a light watercolor wash and mounted on some really old Cuttlebug tags.

I used some Papertrey gingham, a piece of random blue paper from my scrapbook stash, and a piece of retired Soft Sky paper was run through the Big Shot with the new Dots & Spots die...such a fun look and so easy!  I added a scalloped mat on the horizontal piece and tied it all up with some pale yellow embroidery floss!  I added a simple sentiment on the inside, and it's ready to go!

I hope you'll play along with our sweet challenge for this week!  Sadly, this will be my final challenge with them, as I am stepping down from some of my design commitments!  But I will be checking them out and playing along for sure in the future!  Meanwhile, check out what the DT created and share yours as well over at the As You See It blog!  Thanks for popping in today!

A little creative activity...making loopy bracelets!  She has enough here to make hundreds, LOL!  This is my last day of watching her for the summer...she starts school (7th grade) on Monday!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TTTC176 A Kid with Class

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Time for a new Tic Tac Toe challenge, and sadly, this will be my last one as a team designer, as I am stepping down from several of my challenge commitments!  But you will still see me playing occasionally for sure!  Team X has chosen this grid for your stamping enjoyment:

I chose the bottom row across of Gingham, Back to School and Yellow for my creation today, although I have a few more of the elements in there too!

All these images, except for the apple, came from an old Cornish Heritage Farm set called Making the Grade, and it's my go-to set for back-to-school themes!  I stamped the images with Memento Black and colored them in with Blends, then fussy-cut them out.  (The worm was an after-thought!  He looks so cute peeking out from behind the tag, don't you think?)  The apple is an oldie from Papertrey Ink; I stamped it in Real Red, Garden Green and Soft Suede, and then outlined it with a felt-tip pen so that it would "match" the other images.  Finally the sentiment was diecut with a banner die and everything went on a gingham tag:

And here's the inside; the "Happy" is from Biggest Wish and the rest of it is from the same CHF set.  I think I'll tuck a little gift card inside and send this to Cassidy on her first day of school!

I am also entering this at CAS on Sunday, where they want tags!

I hope you'll play along with our grid this week...it's just in time for those fall, back-to-school encouragements notes, not just for the students but for the teachers too!  Can't wait to see what you create...share it over at Tic Tac Toe!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

SS290 Times Two

Happy Tuesday, folks!  Is it really only Tuesday?  I feel like it should be at least Thursday...it's been a busy start of the week already! I made a card yesterday for the Christmas Card Throwdown theme as well as the Sunday Stamps sketch, then realized I messed up the sketch part!  So I made another one just using the sketch! (I will show you the messed-up one too.)  But first let's see the sketch:

I had been playing around with the new Cottage Wreath bundle, but hadn't really made anything with it, so I had all these wreaths laying around on my desk, so I decided to put one to use.  I got out some Cajun Craze DSPs and went to work:

This particular wreath was stamped with Cajun Craze and Versamark on Vellum, then heat-embossed with clear embossing powder and die cut.  I added a Cinnamon Cider bow and a sentiment from Celebrate Sunflowers, and stuck on some Gilded Gems.  It all went on a Very Vanilla circle:

I added a little filgreen diecut under the banner, and here's the inside, with another wreath outline and a sentiment from Color and Contour:

Here's my original one; the theme for the Christmas Card Throwdown was sledding or skiing:

I pulled out an old stamp; not even sure who made it, maybe Lost Coast Designs, of two children sledding and I it's one of my favorites!  Stamped in Misty Moonlight, it went well with some Carter Bella Welcome Winter papers:

I colored the sky with a pale gray Copic, then added a sentiment from an old stamp from my stash!  The banner looked a little plain, so I added two glimmer diecut snowflakes to match the fun Metallic Mesh ribbon that I used for the horizontal piece.  My error on this card was that I centered the banner, but I certainly wasn't going to chuck it, LOL!

On the inside, I added a sentiment from Papertrey Ink:

Thanks for visiting today!

A family birthday party for the birthday girl...it was a long week of celebrating!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP605 CAS Nautical

Happy Sunday, peeps! Time for a new Paper Players challenge, with Laurie as our hostess!  I had to remember that it is a CLEAN AND SIMPLE challenge!!

I pulled out a real old set called Nursery Necessities, which obviously by the name, is a baby set, but it has a cute little sailboat in it that I thought would be great for a CAS card!  So here we go:

I stamped and fussy-cut each section of the boat, using Sweet Sorbet, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green and Misty Moonlight as my colors.  I perched it upon a Balmy Blue "sea" diecut with the little wavy die from the Hippo dies and embossed with the Seaside embossing folder.  I added a sentiment from the retired Label Me Bold and a stitched circular mat:

I know Granny Apple Green is not traditionally a nautical color, but I liked the bright colors together! I used the sketch from FMS too:

I hope you'll find some inspiration from our challenge this week...just don't forget to make it clean and simple!  You can find other samples over at the Paper Players blog...then share yours with us too!

Another part of Cassidy's birthday celebration was a Stranger Things Escape Room!  I think they made it with four minutes to spare!

Thanks for visiting today...enjoy it and be blessed!

"Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.  Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling.  Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment.  Blessed are all who take refuge in him." Psalm 2:10-12

AHSC486 Cheers to All Your Years

Happy Friday, peeps!  Hope you have something fun planned for the weekend!  My card today is for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge:

which is really an interesting one!  I had to put on my thinking cap for sure!  I needed a card for my nephew, so I pulled out some elements and papers from He's the Man and went to work:

I began by cutting a tag from some of the DSP; I actually adhered part of a journaling cutout to a piece of DSP, then diecut the whole thing with a Tailor Made Tag, adding a reinforcement of Basic Black and a little Mango Melody "ribbon".  I used a sentiment from A Grand Kid, stamping it several times on Very Vanilla cardstock, then cutting it out with a Stylish Shapes die.  They were a bit too big to fit five banners on my tag, so I only used four---hope that's still okay!

I finished it off with another element from the scrapping portion of the DSP--Cheers to All Your Years--then mounted it on a panel of Very Vanilla that was embossed with the retired Dainty Dots folder. (I won't tell him the name of that folder...it's not too masculine, but it's still a great background, LOL!)  Drew always tells me how much he enjoys getting my hand-made cards, so I hope he likes this one too!  Thanks for popping in today!

So the trip down the Brandywine was...well, let's just say that the girls weren't prepared for how s-l-o-w the tubing would be.  Boredom and crabbiness set in and at the very end, Grammy got in one of the tubes and Grampy paddled the canoe and two tweens the last few hundred yards.  Truthfully, the two of them could have maneuvered a canoe by themselves but the rental facility said they each had to be with an adult.  And they thought they would like the tubes, but their short attention spans got the better of them!  The water is very shallow, in fact, the young man who was giving us instructions before we left the banks of the river said "If you feel like you're drowning, stand up!"  It was a bit deeper in some sections but some places it was only a few inches deep...and cold but very, very clear.  It was gorgeous! John thought he was taking a picture but it was actually a video....a one-second video, but a video nontheless!

Anyway, we made it back safe & sound and went to Perkins for a birthday lunch, where the staff sang Happy Birthday to Cassidy and all was well.

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CTD706 Happy Birthday

Hi peeps!  A quick card today since we are taking Cassidy and her friend Gia canoeing and tubing down the Brandywine river!  We canoed last year and it was fun, so before they go back to school we wanted to do it again!

I haven't played with the Color Throwdown challenge for a long time!  These colors reminded me of our new In Colors Parakeet Party and Tahitian Tide.

I pulled out an Altenew stamp that I haven't used for a while called Dot Botanicals.  I stamped the images in both colors, then added a diecut flower and a simple birthday sentiment.  So here we go:

The flower is from the retired Pierced Blooms dies; sentiment is from Colorado Craft Company's Wishing:

I added a Stitched With Whimsy die around the edge, mounted it on a Tahitian Tide card and it was done!

I had to laugh when I saw the card and boxes of Cassidy's birthday gifts...they match the challenge colors!

Crocs and Cons!  She'll be well-shod this school year, LOL!  Thanks for visiting today, enjoy it and be blessed!

CTC382 Thanks

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  There's a FB challenge called CASEing the Catty and they have a sketch challenge this week:

I think this is the first time I've ever played!  I needed a customer thank you card, so I pulled out the fall pattern of Rings of Love DSP, some Fall Harvest DSP,  a couple of dies and the Biggest Wish stamp set:

It's all pretty straight-forward; I backed the Rustic Harvest DSP with a panel of Crumb Cake after diecutting the tag from it.  I diecut another tag from Very Vanilla, embossed it with the retired Tasteful Textile embossing folder, then added the sentiment, a fussy-cut leaf sprig and some sequins.  A couple of Linen Thread embellishments and I was done!

This is a great sketch and I'm saving it for the future!  You should play along...the challenge is sponsored by demos but open to any crafter!  Thanks for popping in today!

After our little stamping session last week, I took the girls to the local ice cream shop!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RRCB189

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Time for a new Retro Rubber challenge, where we use our older stamps, and it's a fun one:

I was a little stumped on this one, but ended up pulling out my retired Stitched Triangle dies and cutting out some triangles from a few of the challenge colors!  So here we go:

I used Crumb Cake, Soft Sky, Rococo Rose, Misty Moonlight and Smoky Slate, then mounted them all on a panel of Basic White embossing with the retired Coastal Weave embossing folder!  The outside sentiment is from Suite Sentiments, diecut with an Ornate Frame die and embellished with some Pierced Blooms flowers and a wee little rhinestone!  The inside features stamps from Perfectly Wrapped, all stamped in colors of the triangles on the front:

I hope you'll find some inspiration from our photo---will it be colors?  Shapes?  Images?  Can't wait to see what you create!  Share it with us at Retro Rubber so we all can see it!

My great-nieces Emma and Lucy came over last week and to keep them busy, I got out some small stamps and spots along with some scrap paper and they had a lot of fun....for at least fifteen minutes, anyway!  Cassidy chose to eat!

Their techniques were pretty good! Start them early, right?!  Thanks for visiting today---enjoy it and be blessed!
