Hi everyone! I was asked to participate in a "Thankful for Friends of Faith" Blog Hop! Of course, I said yes! So here are the details:

So here's my card:

I chose to use some bright, fun DP from Cosmo Cricket sewn to a Certainly Celery mat, then adhered to a So Saffron card base. Since the patterns are busy, I kept my design very simple. The computer-generated scripture theme verse was die cut with a Nesties 4 label; the mat behind it is simply two of the same Nesties layered in a staggered fashion--a great way to get some extra mileage from your Nesties! I also made my own button to top off my gingham bow:

I cut it using SU's Button diecut, then layered it on a couple more cardstock buttons and added some Crystal Effects! Three little brads on my sentiment finish my card. And here's the inside, using a sentiment from PTI's Quilter's Sampler Sentiments:

A Vintage Giggle

Woohoo, two posts in one day! I love vintage stuff, but still struggle to pull it off. Today's SCS challenge WT 244 was to use a faux finish or texture. One of my favorite techniques is faux tin, so I decided to do a faux tin heart and use it as an embellishment with some Jenni Bowlin papers & Bingo cards I got recently.

This kind of looks like a jumbled mess to me; but maybe someone with a sense of humor will enjoy it as a birthday card! All images are from Sweet Bee by CHF, as is the backgrounder. The crocheted flower is from my sweet friend Kristin and the prima is from my sweet friend Tammy! Here's a closeup of the faux tin heart:

To make the faux tin, simply cut a shape from Really Rust cardstock; dauber it heavily with Really Rust ink, then sponge Chocolate Chip ink over top. I distressed the edges as well. Isn't that flower cute?

Nothing Much Exciting

is going on today.....it's raining, gray, dreary....and I only have two little cards to show you. Nothing exciting there, either. But I'll show them to you anyway and maybe this afternoon I can come up with something more fun!

This first card is a hostess thank you:

I had some pieces hanging out on my craft table, so I incorporated them into this card using the hostess set Of The Earth and Heart From the Heart. A Nestie scalloped square and Swiss Dotted panel adds a little interest. I have tons of these Kraft pieces left over from a card class..I need to use them up!

This card is a get-well card for a church friend who is going though another bout of cancer; this Lovely as a Tree image was left over from my recent watercoloring class. It was hanging out on my table too, along with that BG Indian Summer paper, so I paired them up to make one of these funny-looking cards:

I put the panel to the right because I didn't want to cover up that pretty leaf image! I also wanted to use that nice satin ribbon, but didn't want a bow, so I just laid it across the card. Some dew drops (can ANYONE get them on straight?) finished it off....I hope he doesn't think it's too girly!

Color Throwdown #68

Broni is our CTD hostess this week and her colors of Real Red, Only Orange and Crushed Curry, along with a dark neutral, gave me an "eeeek" moment! But I checked out some of the new Indian Summer BG paper I just received, and found some that was perfect for the challenge.

Now I know this is different from my usual style! Monkeys are not high on my stamping priority list, but I thought with this jungle-like paper, a cute little monkey face peeking out from the leaves would fit the challenge perfectly, so I used a cute little Simon Says Stamp set called Silly Monkey. I also used Fall to Layout #67 from the Clean and Simple blog:

and here's the layout:

The card base is Crushed Curry, with my monkey stamped in Palette Noir and colored with Copics. Nesties, SU punches and some brads finished it off! I hand-drew some lines on the stamped leaves to mimic the leaves in the paper.

Diva Coffee Break Designs Challenge #153

Happy Wednesday to everyone! This week's challenge is a sketch:

There are LOTS of possibilities with this sketch, so why don't you try it out and link it to Mr Linky on the DCBD blog? We'd love to see what you come up with!!! So here's my submission:

I really like this card! It was tempting to want to glitter & bling this up with some Dazzling Diamonds and a few brads, but I purposely left it plain, as I wanted to showcase these colors and images. Night of Navy and Sage Shadow are a great combo, and adding Brushed Silver really kicks it up. I added the ribbon at the bottom because I really love that Sage Shadow grosgrain ribbon!! The sentiment was done by inking the word "Joy" from a Many Merry Messages verse with my Night of Navy marker, then punching it out. I also used Nesties for my circular layers.

Isn't this sweet? It is several word stamps positioned in a tree shape, embellished with buttons, brads & ribbon, and some red stickles! SO cute, I love it! And here is another candy gift I made for one of my bloggin' buddies (you'll be sick of these by the week's end!):

I said yesterday that these were homemade candies....well, they are homemade at a little candy shop near me.....not homemade BY me!! Sorry! And these are strawberry cheesecake chocolates.....and the clerk at the store actually offered me one of these.....YUM!!!!

Giving Thanks

(Edited to add: I think I must have seen this beautiful card by Donna before I stamped mine....they are so similar, that I must give her credit!! I believe I subconsciously had hers in my head!!!) I need to amp up my supply of Thanksgiving cards, as I do send some to family members that we don't see until Christmas. Today's SCS Clean & Simple challenge was to use white and one color......and I began my card using VANILLA and one color. Go figure. Oh well, I used the JUGS6 sketch:

and a hostess set called Holiday Best, the leaf from Autumn Days and the little text is from PTI, Text Basics I think it is. All images are stamped in Sahara Sand; cardstock is Sahara Sand, Very Vanilla and Bella Bleu. A little twill and Kraft ribbon are accented with a slide from the Hodgepodge Hardware kit. I used a Nestability to cut out my image rather than the circle shown in the sample...I know, I am such a rebel! LOL!

I am still recovering from the weekend....I haven't pulled out all my projects from my bag yet. I was so overwhelmed by all we were doing that I didn't finish everything!!! So as I finish them, I'll share them. But I do have a couple things to show you, items that I made for my girlfriends before I left..... I'll be showing them along this week too. I made these little candy baskets using SU's Box #2 die cut:

The cardstock is Dusty Durango; DP is all from Basic Grey; sentiments are from CHF. Inside is some yummy homemade orange & chocolate candy. It was all I could do to NOT eat this while assembling this gift!!! Here are some photos of the area around the Glasbern Inn too:

Piles & Piles

of laundry, bills and things to put away! How can so much stuff pile up in only two days! I am back from Stampin Around Philly and we all had a lot of fun!!! Tired, but thrilled that I met two of my bloggin' buddies:

On Last Card Before I Go

Woohoo....I am packed (almost) and ready for Stampin' Around Philly! And because of that, I had to scramble to make this card, as almost all my essential stampin' supplies are packed away! But I made it work, especially for such a good cause. Check out the SCS challenge LSC245 for today, which is to send a Christmas card to Noah, or someone else of your choice. Warning: tears may be tempted to fall here!

This is really simple, as the challenge was to only use one DP and no die cuts, keeping embellishments to a minimum. I saw a really cute card by Julia, using retired rub-ons from SU, so I was inspired by that and just made a simple framed sentiment, added ribbon and my card will go in the mail this morning:

Lost but not Forgotten

I made this project a while back and was saving it for a day when I wouldn't have time to stamp anything! This is the day! I am taking my daughter shopping and then tomorrow am off to Allentown, PA for the Stampin'Around Philly event! Can't wait to meet my bloggin' friends! Anyway, here you go: a little pizza box (pattern found on SCS or contact me for more details)

This was made with Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive cardstocks and using Itty Bitty Background and the Christmas Punch stamp set. Then I made some tags:

The great thing about this set is that all the images fit Stampin'Up!'s punches--which makes for quick easy projects! I added some glitter and a couple little embellishments, but for the most part, these did not take long at all! Oh, it is a Hostess Set---so you gotta have a party to get this wonderful set! Anyway, here they are all together:

Cute, huh? The box has a little belly band that just slides off to open the pizza box full of these sweet little tags! Thanks for visiting today - I will try to have some posts over the weekend, but I can't promise a thing!

Color Throwdown #67

Today is Tammy's turn to throw down some colors, and the ones she chose really threw me for a loop! I took some license with the colors and used some BG Marrakesh paper which has the colors (and a couple more---!!!) and then made my stamped image fairly simple.

I pulled out my Always set, which is "always" being neglected, and combined it with Circle Circus to make this card, based on the Mojo Monday sketch #111:

Since there is so much activity going on in this beautiful paper, I simply stamped my bird silhouette on a Confetti White panel in Dusty Durango, and made a medallion from various images and the challenge colors. Sentiment is from MFT Essential Sentiments; ribbon is Dusty Durango Polka Dot. There is some Jelly Roll glitter on the bird, too! This card is already long gone; I used it for a birthday card for a friend from church suffering from cancer. Sadly, this will be her last birthday, I am sure.

Diva Coffee Break Designs #152

The Divas have a color challenge today and I guess my mojo is missing, because these were a stretch! I wanted to do something Christmas and vintage, as these seemed good vintage colors....unfortunately, I don't have any stamps to fit that bill! I did need a hostess thank you, and she ordered Lovely as a Tree, so I decided to make a Christmas card she can use:

I tried to use a sketch from Stamping 411 and got frustrated as my image was too large, so I turned it on its side and made my own sketch! The base is Creamy Caramel; mat is Bravo Burgundy embossed with the Finial Press embossing folder, then antiqued with BB ink. The scalloped edge was punched from Creamy Caramel as well, then I split it half and pulled it apart, so it has a sueded feel. The tree is stamped in Always Artichoke on Confetti Cream, and glittered up with some Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Here's the inside:

My Kraft taffeta ribbon was not quite the right color, so I dyed it with some Creamy Caramel ink...that is a cool way you can get just about every color of ribbon!! Keep it in mind the next time you're placing a SU order--white ribbon and reinkers!!! (And I can help you with that!)

From Our House to Yours

Today's SCS challenge was to use a pop of color with a neutral. While listening to the Phillies win (and almost lose) their ball game last night, I was playing around with a CHF image from their Night Before Christmas set. I had also seen this lovely creation by Susan and knew I could combine my image and her style to make a nice card. It also uses a loose interpretation of the the Fall to Layout #64 sketch as well!

I would have liked to have had the bow over a tiny little bit, but I made a one-hole bow, and once you punch that hole, you're kind of committed! But once I put the sentiment on, it balanced it a bit! Thanks for visiting today!

Lovely as a Tree Meets CAS

I have not had much stamping time this weekend, but I did squeeze in a fun mini "class" on watercoloring with my friend Lorraine and her mom Anna. So when I saw today's Clean & Simple Challenge #39 on SCS, I knew I could incorporate one of my samples into the sketch:

I already had a Sahara Sand base cut; I added a panel from BG's Ambrosia. I quickly stamped a little leaf and watercolored it, popped it with a little circle punch, then cut out my tree with a Nestie. I originally wanted to tie the leaf onto the ribbon (see the little hole?) but couldn't make it look right, so I just tucked it under the ribbon with a dimensional. I just happen to need a get-well card for a dear friend from church--during the service yesterday, he fell ill and passed out....much to the surprise and dismay of everyone!! He is fine, but stayed in the hospital overnight and hopefully will be home in a day or so. So I thought this would be a great card for him! And I doubt he'll even notice that little hole! JUGS Challenge #5

Whew, I am getting this one in just under the wire...the Halloween wire, that is! Today's Just Us Girls challenge is to make a holiday card for a photograph. Kristin didn't say exactly WHAT holiday, so I made one last Halloween card. (And make sure you visit the blog....they have CANDY!).

Anyone who reads my blog knows that we are hosting a woman & her brother while she gets a guide dog, who will help her with migraines and balance issues from brain tumor surgery. They "graduate" tomorrow and today they had a Halloween party, complete with costumes, so yesterday, we sat & cut out felt petals and used black pipe cleaners as a framework so that Dutch could be a "black-eyed Susan". I was fortunate enough to get a pretty good picture of Dutch wearing his costume---he looks a little forlorn, but really, he's quite happy! I made it into a big easel card and I will give this to Lynn as a special reminder of the time she & Dutch spent with us:

He & Lynn won a prize for being the best look-alikes!! Here they are:

The card itself is very simple; I used Basic Black, Whisper White, & Summer Sun cardstock, making a 5 1/2" square card. The witch hat is embossed in White EP using White Craft ink. The other images are from Crafty Secrets' Halloween set, the "happy" is from SU's Happy Everything set and the words are computer-generated. A Few Little Fun Things

I had a workshop for a stamping friend last night and so I made a few little goodies to take as samples and door prizes. One thing that I love about stamping and stampers is their willingness to share ideas..I don't think there are many industries out there where creative secrets are shared as openly as in the stamping world! That being said, most of these ideas (if not ALL) were cased from people more creative than I!!!

This hostess gift is two Boxes #2 adhered together and punched to make a handle, then decorated with some seasonal decor. I added a couple more goodies after seeing the idea for these on Donna's blog, Butternut Sage:

Just a little candy favor using the Top Note as a topper....

And a little gift bag & candy treat:

The Santa idea came from Dawn; the reindeer from CeeCee; and the candy treat from Becky. I don't remember whether she had the turkey idea, or someone else, so if anyone remembers, let me know & I'll give the credit!!! Think Pink Ink

This week's Pals Paper Arts Challenge #14 (check it out--they have blog candy!!) is to use pink to make your card, and the Saturday Sketch Challenge #122 at Stamping 411 is to make a square card with this layout:

I took a little bit of creative license and did not use squares, but stamped & cut out the heart image from Sweet Centers for my VERY pink card:

I only have a few more days to get my photo "studio" back, so meanwhile, you have to put up with the "homey" look of my stamping table, plus it is dreary, dreary, dreary, here today! Anyway, this uses lots of pinks and is really a little more busy than I would have preferred, but it was a fun card to make and certainly highlights a lot of products, so it will be a good sample for my camps and workshops! Happy Harvest

While watching the Phillies win last night, I did some watercoloring to make a nice fall card for a special friend:

The floating pumpkins are stamped on SU's watercolor paper and colored with reinkers; textured cardstock that was embossed with the Autumn Type CB is DCWV; sentiment is from PTI stamped on a SU Lots of Tags diecut. Ribbon is from my stash. There is a little sparkly stuff on the pumpkins that you can't detect here, but it gives a nice dewy look! I think I will be able to get in some stamping time today, so perhaps I'll have a second post!!! Thanks for visiting today!

Color Throwdown #66

Happy Wednesday! It's my turn to host the Color Throwdown and I have (as usual) challenged my team with my three colors of Rich Razzleberry, Elegant Eggplant and Bordering Blue....(for some reason, they just don't like the blues!!!) I was enthralled by the flowers that Mona made for the Just Us Girls Challenge Week 4 and I thought the rich colors of the challenge would look great with this technique. (She has a video tutorial, so check it out!) If you don't have these exact colors, feel free to substitute as we want everyone to play! Here is my sample:

I think this is an elegant color combo and although I would not be able to put this card in an envelope, it would be a nice card to tuck into a gift bag for some lucky recipient!

A Garden is a Friend....

Today's SCS Clean & Simple challenge is to use brads or eyelets on your card....I am not sure my card really qualifies as a CAS, but it's all my poor brain could come up with after an extremely stressful weekend...never so glad to see a Monday arrive! So here we are:

And see that fancy little watermark up in the corner? A special friend made that for me this weekend! The one highlight of my day!!! Anyway, this is pretty basic: Early Bird DP; CHF garden sentiment and a SU flower from Enjoy Every Moment, stamped in Pixie Pink on Confetti Cream. Ribbon is retired SU; Build-a-Brad makes the flower center. I have to admit that I do not like the flower off center, but I made it that way so it didn't come over to the side of the card too far.....I would have also preferred a whiter shade but the Early Bird paper is all cream-colored, so I went with the Confetti Cream. Oh well, it is still kinda cute; Pumpkin thought so also:

These are my nieces, Paige and Kelly, and my daughter, Dana, at a wedding this past weekend. And by the way, these are all NATURAL haircolors (except for that dark stuff under Dana's!!!)!!! Thanks for visiting today!

Christmas in October

Last night was another Christmas card stamp camp, so quickly, here are the cards the girls made:

The above card uses the SC250 from SCS, which was last week's sketch challenge. Now, I am off to clean up the mess!! I stayed up to watch the Phillies win the NL Championship!!!!! Go Phillies!

Color Throwdown #65

Danielle really threw me for a loop with this color challenge! But I persevered and managed to come up with something!! Be sure to check out the CTD blog to see what they've got up for grabs this week. I am sure you'll want to play along!

This is little Agnes Ketto--isn't she sweet? I experimented with my Copics, using them on SU's Shimmery White cardstock, which probably was not the best to use, but I wanted that all-over shimmery look. I still have a long way to go with these---my CTD companions make it look soooo easy! Since I didn't have any Pomegranate cardstock left, I made do with Rose Red and some BG Pink Lemonade DP; I know there is not much Taken with Teal in here (remember my struggle?) but the sentiment and the little bling meet that requirement, barely! I did add lots of shimmer with a Gelly Roll pen and some DD glitter:
