Sketchy Saturday x Two

Happy Monday, peeps!  After a very wet, soggy, gray, dreary Sunday, I am actually happy to see Monday arrive!  My creative friend Laurel has a nice little sketch challenge (AND a give-away) over at her blog, Seabrook Designs!  You need to check it out!  Here's her sketch:

I thought this sketch would be an awesome way to use up some pretty papers I have sitting around!  Of course, I made two cards (no wonder I never seem to get out of my craft room!), the first was a birthday card for a little girl at church, using some Cute Girl papers from Crate Paper:

I used the Merry Christmas thinlets for my big "Happy" along with an Altenew birthday sentiment called Label Love:

The stitched flowers are from My Favorite Things, embellished with some scraps of glimmer paper!

My second card uses Winterberry papers from My Mind' Eye and a sentiment stamp and die from Concord & 9th:

The paper really does all the work on this one as well!  The sentiment (Christmas Turnabout) was stamped with Cherry Cobbler and is also backed with another Cherry Cobbler banner to help it stand out a bit.  The tree from the retired SU set Warmth & Wonder was stamped in Memento Black on Mossy Meadow cardstock and punched out with a triangle tree punch; the glimmer paper snowflake was diecut with a die from Alpine Sports thinlets:

I had some enamel dots that weren't quite the right shade of red, so I colored them with a Dark Cherry Cobbler blend...those markers are so versatile!

The family had a very busy weekend, and this has to be my favorite photo of all the ones Dana sent me:

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Easy Sketchy Saturday

Happy Monday, peeps!  SO....here was my day yesterday:
  1. Walk a mile when I got up.
  2. Make breakfast before church.
  3. Go to church.
  4. Come home and make lunch.
  5. Mow the yard.
  6. Go to a wedding (but not the reception).
  7. Come home and crash.
  8. Take a nap.
  9. Make a card.
  10. Make dinner.
  11. Walk again.
  12. Surf my favorite blogs and go to bed.
LOL....are you bored yet?  See how far down the list "make a card" was??  So I had to make this easy peasy one using some pretty Shimelle Little by Little papers from American Craft and Perennial Birthday (again) because it was already sitting on my desk!

I used Laurel's Sketchy Saturday sketch:

The papers did most of the work.....check out this pretty wreath!  In hindsight, my flower is a bit too bright, but the Mint Macaron sentiment works perfectly!  I just hand-cut the curvy banner and adhered it with a couple of dimensionals!  I added a few sequins too!

I always need birthday cards, don't you?!  This will help build up my stash!

You never know what you'll find when you go yard saling with Grammy and Grampy!!

Everybody needs an orange plastic Halloween skeleton decoration!!  It was only a quarter!!  So happy you popped in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Sketchy Saturday Sunshine

Happy Monday, peeps!  A quick post today as I have some stamping friends coming over..... to stamp, of course!  I wanted to make a few samples for them to check out, since we have new product in the house and they always like to see new goodies!  I used some Garden Impression DSP and Laurel's Sketchy Saturday sketch:

These two patterns are my favorite in the whole pack!  I admit that I am not usually drawn to bright colors and random designs like this, but these papers are growing on me!  I simply cut them to fit the front of a standard card, then added the sentiment from Stitched All Around and used the Stitched Labels Framelits to cut it out:

I then added another layer of So Saffron, diecut with the Layering Circles Framelits, and a third layer of a new color, Mango Melody, diecut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits:

For a little interest, I added a simple strip of Whisper White that was embossed with the cross-stitch die, also from the Stitched Labels set!  Such a fun set of dies!!  Very easy and went together quickly!

Cassidy got her ears pierced this weekend!  Dana said she did very well and only made a little face when the technician put the needle in her ear!

She is growing up too fast!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
