TMS452 Almost

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Did you notice the title of my post today?  I added "almost" because I "almost" used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches this week...here it is:

And here's my card...I just could NOT tilt that panel...it looked like my classic car was going to crash, going downhill!!  I still liked the sketch, so I just used it with an untilted panel!  Hopefully they'll be forgiving, if not, that's okay too!!

Anyway, at first glance, this would seem to be a birthday card for a 70-year-old, but it's not!  One of our local businesses is celebrating 70 years!  It's a used-car dealership, and the owner is a friend of ours; he's continuing the business that his father started in 1948.  We have bought several cars from him, and having been in the car business myself for 25 years, it's sometimes hard to find someone who is honest and trustworthy, but Kenny certainly is!  So this card is for him...to celebrate his business ethic and hard work!

I recently got this vintage car image from Unity Stamps and just in time!  The license plate paper is some from my friend Teri, and I thought it would be a fun background!

For the other element of the sketch, I diecut an open star, added vellum behind it as well as some corduroy ribbon, then added "70" with SU's Little Numbers:

I used leftover scraps to create the inside....I hope he has a good sense of humor!  (I think he does)!

I am also entering this in the Male Room Challenge, which is "cars"!!

Yesterday was Teacher Appreciation Day (which John thought was T-Shirt Appreciation Day...I think he needs his hearing checked) and Grammy just happened to have a card that Cassidy approved of for her teacher:

I love the pigtails!  Have a blessed day and thanks for popping in!  Be sure to come back tomorrow for a new Inspired By challenge, too!

Honeycomb Happiness New Baby Cards

Happy Friday peeps!  If you're in the northeastern portion of the States, you're probably waiting for the big snow/sleet/ice event that is barreling across the country!  I am ready to hunker down and watch some Netflix, do some knitting, cross-stitching and stamping!   But first, I have a couple of baby cards to show you, just in time for The Male Room challenge of babies and little boys:

One of the main reasons I got Suite Sayings was because of this adorable sentiment, and I thought it would be really cute with this little chick peeking out from somewhere!  This little dude was already stamped, sponged (Mint Macaron) and cut out, unused from another project, so I went searching for some suitable little boy paper and found these in the Sweet Lil' Things DSP line:

It's pretty straightforward....just some sponging and coloring with a marker; a couple of diecut circles and a few non-SU sequins.  This just happens to be for a customer who just became a grandmother for the first time!

While I had the sets on my desk, I made another for my stash, using the same papers but in a different color palette....this time I added a few Pool Party stars with the sequins, and sponged my Soft Suede-stamped chickie in Crushed Curry and Hello Honey:

And on the inside, a couple of sentiments from Greatest Greetings and Perfect Pairings, also in Soft Suede!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Mojo 430 and Male Room 26 Birthday

Hey peeps!  A vintage birthday card for a family friend today!  It uses the awesome Mojo Monday sketch for this week, which I thought was a bit busy until I started playing with it....LOVE it:

So here we go, using SU's Guy Greetings and some older Basic Grey papers:

I stamped the images and sentiment in Early Espresso on the DSP, then did some random stamping with Timeless Textures, and did some sponging and distressing as well:

I just love that new TT stamp....it really adds cool elements to your images!  I also added a little stitched square and button to my sentiment banner, which was also stamped with Timeless Textures and sponged a bit!  Have you ever seen a three-hole button?  That's what's on here:

I am also entering this at The Male Room for their "Anything Goes" challenge!  Thanks for popping in today!

A little chilly ice-breaking activity in the driveway:

Enjoy your day!

Paper Players 256

DSCF1126

Happy Sunday, peeps!  It’s time for another Paper Players challenge and our hostess Jaydee has a fun one!

I love making square cards…I usually make mine 4 1/4” square so they still fit inside a regular envelope!  Today, my card uses the colors from Just Add Ink:
and I used a new-to-me photopolymer set called Banner Blessings as well as a retired Banner Blast set:

I embossed my Crumb Cake base with the Large Polka Dot EF. I stamped my sentiment in Bermuda Bay and embossed the sides of my horizontal panel with the Stripes EF.   Then I stamped the banners in the challenge colors, punching them out with the Banner punch:

You can see just a wee bit of another row of solid banners peeking out from behind!  Finally, I added a faux button and some Bermuda Bay baker’s twine for some interest  .And since this uses stripes and dots, I am entering it in The Male Room’s Stripes and Spots challenge this week as well!  Hope that little bow of baker’s twine doesn’t seem too “unmasculine”!  I need several thank you cards, so I might just do a few of these!

I hope you are challenged to make a square card this week with us too…the DT has some fabulous samples!  Check them out:
This is what I’ve been doing in some of my “spare” time:

Unfortunately, it leaves THIS in its wake:

(Not including the griddle from breakfast, LOL!).  ARGHHHH!  But I do find that little "plink" sound they make when they seal strangely satisfying!  Reminds me of my mom canning on the farm when I was a little girl!   Fortunately I have this too:

Enjoy your day!

Paper Players 237

DSCF8679
Happy Sunday, everyone!  Hope you all are having a great weekend so far!  I am the hostess at the Paper Players this week and I’ve got a sketch for you:
I just couldn’t decide what to put in that horizontal panel; I really wanted to stamp something, but in the end, pulled out some of my neglected Maritime DSP and the cute Sea Street stamp set:

I stamped Mr Octopus in Coastal Cabana, and his friends in Night of Navy and Real Red, then added a sentiment from the Project Life photopolymer set Remember This:

Life IS good, right?!  I am also entering this in the Male Room's Under Water theme!  A new challenge to me, thanks to Deborah!   I hope you’ll play along with us this week, and share your creation with us at the Paper Players blog!  Meanwhile, check out what the other designers created:
We had a little surprise snow on Friday, what we call a nuisance snow, because it really didn’t stay too much on the roads:

Saturday morning, it was sunny and frosty:

Can spring be really here?  I think Cassidy is going to “whistle” it in!!!
