Red, White & Blue For You

DSCF4541

I never make July 4th cards....does anyone really send them?  But I thought I would send one to my sister, and even though she won't get it in time, I think she'll enjoy it nontheless!  Today's challenge at SCS was to use corregated cardboard somewhere in your card.  I had almost finished my card when I read the challenge, but I thought I could still incorporate that into it:

DSCF4540 And here is a closeup of one of the little corregated hearts I made.  I pulled apart the cardboard, cut it freehand into a heart shape and then ran my ink pads lightly over top.  I added some PTI buttons sewn with some thread, and it was done.  I stamped this image twice, once in Rose Red, then again in Night of Navy and cut out the starred section of the flag and glued it on top.  This is a large card, almost 5x7"; the images are from "Hero" from Artistic Outpost and Background Basics: Text Style from PTI.

Okay, we have red and white (vanilla), but no blue...oh well, see the blue stars on my wallpaper!!!  This card was made from some pieces I had been pushing around my table, leftover bits from a failure, but too good to throw away!  The stamps are from Simon Says (they have hundreds of stamps!) but I don't know the name of the set.  Here's the inside:

The same little flower is stamped all over the red circle, too!  I needed a quick little thank you card and this fit the bill.

Thanks for visiting today!

  • Stamps:  Hero, Artistic Outpost; Text Style, PTI, Simon Says Sentiments & Flower
  • Paper:  Confetti Tan, VV, Real Red, Night of Navy
  • Ink:  Rose Red, Real Red, Night of Navy, Sahara Sand, Creamy Caramel, Fresh Snow, PTI
  • Acc:  Nesties, PTI buttons, thread, Daubers, lace from my stash

I hate the colors red/white/blue together. They just kind of grate on my eyesight when there are so many MORE beautiful combinations! So I never make a 4th of July card. I'm glad you forgot to do the corrugated cardboard til the end. That heart MADE the card come to life!

I make one July 4th card every year. A friend of mine was born on the 4th, so she always gets a patriotic B-D card! She tells me her mom did her the biggest favor by having her on that day, because the whole country celebrates her birth with parties and fireworks! I LOVE the cardboard stars! That's genius!
Your 2nd card is so pretty, I love those colors. I have yet to try making a round card?! I don't know why that challenges me so much, but it does! Pretty sneaky how you included your wallpaper as an element of your card! tsk tsk *wink*
Have a wonderful July 4th weekend!
