Paper Players 497 Two Pampered Pets

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Hope your weekend is going well so far!  It's time for another Paper Players challenge with Claire as our hostess and she's got a fun sketch for us:

I needed a couple of cards this week, and both recipients are dog lovers, so I pulled out my Pampered Pets set and went to work!  When a set comes with coordinating DSP, I sometimes have trouble thinking of other colors to work with it, so I forced myself to use a different color when making my first, card, a pet sympathy one:

I used Highland Heather and Basic Black as my accent colors, stamping the pup on Whisper White and diecutting him out, then adding some shading and a purple collar.  For the vertical pies, I diecut the center pawprint on a narrow strip of white cardstock, then backed it with some Basic Black.  I also stamped a couple of hearts on the DSP and added some baker's twine:

I taped off a portion of the sentiment, using this part for the front:

And the bottom portion for the inside:

My second card uses the same layout, but different papers; I was pretty sure I was using Real Red DSP but my photo makes it look more like Melon Mambo...hopefully the recipient won't notice!  I used some Smoky Slate blends to color in the dog and his dish; I used a Sweetly Stitched scallop mat, and the vertical piece on this one was embossed with one of the Greenery embossing folders:

I used this sentiment for the front, diecutting it with a Tasteful Label die:

And this was on the inside!  And they're both already in the mail!

I hope you'll play along with Claire's fun sketch this week!  Be sure to check out everybody's creations at the Paper Players blog, then get to work and share yours too!  See you there!  If you need any details about the ingredients in my card, just shoot me an email!

I love these LeAnne and know what you mean about feeling bound by colours - I especially love the purple one for breaking the mould on this one. Such a cute set with so many lovely little details - cue the diecut paw prints 🐾! Bravo on following Claire’s sketch to the letter too %- I struggled with the sentiment placement but you have it spot on for both cards. Fabulous!

Just the cutest way to make someone smile - even when their heart is broken, LeAnne.

LeAnne, I love this set and you showcased it beautifully with these two cars. I would never have thought to pair the DSP with Highland Heather but it really does work! Pet loss cards are always so hard and this sentiment works so well. Fabulous use of the sketch

Both cards are fabulous LeAnne! Those pups are so sweet, and I especially like using the one turned away for a sympathy card. The dsp on both cards is perfect too!

LeAnne, both of your cards are paw-some! Love how you featured the different patterns of DSP, too. This set is one of my favorites and this is wonderful inspiration to ink it up. Two paws up, my friend! Hugs!

LeAnne - LOVE YOUR CARD!!! I'm supposed to make an inspiration card for Double Trouble Paper Challenge, and would like to use your card as a model. Different color, different papers, but with the dog stamp and sentiment. I wanted to ask your permission first. I would give your credit for my inspiration, and link to your card. Would that be OK? -Donna
