PP657 Color Challenge from Jaydee

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Hope your weekend is going well so far! We're to have a picnic today at church--we'll see how the weather cooperates!  Meanwhile, Jaydee is our Paper Players hostess today and her color challenge really did challenge me!  Yikes---check it out!

Oh my...the dreaded Wild Wheat AND Pebbled Path, LOL!  Well, I gave it a go, that's what challenges are for, right?  And I will admit that I was happy with the outcome!  Here we go:

It helped that I had a fun sketch to work with; this one is from Hand Stamped Sentiments:

along with the Dainty Designs stamps and dies.  I stamped the images in Saddle Brown Stazon ink, then colored them with reinkers and an aquapainter.  I adhered them to a Pebbled Path frame diecut with the Countryside Corners dies:

I added Stitched Rectangle panels, embossed with the Timber embossing folder and an embossed sentiment from Inked & Tiled, stamped on Pretty Peacock:

I added a few diecut flowers leaves, and everything went on an embossed panel of Timeworn Type.  These colors are pretty nice for fall, and they work wonderfully together in lighter shades and small doses, LOL!  Since The Flower Challenge is looking for die cuts this week, I am also going to enter it there!

I hope you'll play along with Jaydee's color challenge...don't be intimidated by it like I was, they're really lovely fall colors and I know you'll be able to use them to their best advantage.  Hop on over to the Paper Players blog to see what the other designers did to get some more inspiration!

My two great-nephews are following in their dad's footsteps, learning a lot of outdoor skills; here, they're learning archery while dad watches:

We've got a righty and a lefty!

We recently found out that a little sister will be added to the family...she'll probably learn all this good stuff too!  Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

52CCTD34 Guest Designer

Happy Saturday, everyone!  I am guest designing today at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown blog, where we have a color challenge:

These hues from nature gave me a chance to play with some new goodies I got recently; here we go:

My little scene was created with some retired stamps from Verve, snowy hills courtesy of Lawn Fawn, and the trees are from Memory Box, diecut from Shaded Spruce and Basic White.  My Soft Sky panel was embossed with the new Snowflake Sky embossing folder from SU; I added some white ink to it, but it really didn't show up, so I added some snowflake sequins!  My little deer were stamped in Pecan Pie ink:

and the sentiment in Soft Sky ink:

and the inside sentiment, also in Pecan Pie:

These colors are so evocative of nature, I hope they inspire you to create a Christmas card for our challenge!  We can't wait to see it at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown blog!  Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS602 Cupcake Birthday

Happy Friday, peeps! I have a quick, easy card today using Kim's fun sketch at Freshly Made Sketches:

Such a fun sketch wtih so many possibilities!  I had a scrap of Lost Lagoon cardstock on my desk so I decided to work with that:

I cut a snippet of Lost Lagoon DSP to coordinate with my cardstock and decided to use some Versamark ink to stamp some diagonal rows of "happy birthday" from Best Family Ever to create my own patterned paper!  I added a cupcake from Circle Sayings, using the opposite side of the DSP to create the cupcake paper.  A little fussy-cutting and some embossing of the same sentiment on a piece of Basic Black finished it off:

I confess I couldn't wait to use some new embellishments...I used both a Glitter Sequin and a Faceted Gem from the new mini catalog to sparkle it up a bit!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Motorcyle Birthday

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I made this card for my nephew's birthday...no challenge, just a fun, simple card for a young guy....I think they're the most challenging to make!  I used papers from last mini called Ready to Ride, and mixed up some new and old stamps for the sentiment:

The wrenches on the background paper have a gloss to them--very cool--and the motorcyle was simply fussy-cut from another piece of the DSP.  I diecut two banners from the Nested Essentials dies and layered them together; the motorcycle hides the seam.  I used sentiments from Biggest Wishes and the retired Endless Birthday Wishes along with some Metallic Studs; it all went on a Very Vanilla card base:

For the inside, I cut a couple of strips from the DSP that look like tire tracs and added a sentiment from the retired Rev Up the Fun:

Hope he likes it!  Thanks for popping in today!

A few pix from around the yard:

My friend Joan gave me these dahlias and I was thrilled to see how pretty they were:

And this bee was completely oblivious of my picture-taking indulgence; I just wish these tiger lilies lasted longer!  They're almost 6' tall!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AHSC541 Birthday Wishes

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I missed playing with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenges the last couple of weeks, so I am remedying that today!  Here's the current sketch:

I had the Lasting Joy set still on my desk and while I have used many of the sentiments, I had not used any of the little floral images yet.  I had a scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock from another project, so I just started stamping in some fall colors, and decided it would work for the AHSC challenge!  Here we go:

The florals were stamped in Pecan Pie, Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry; I stamped the foliage on the Pecan Pie card front with Versamark ink.  I added some Very Vanilla scallops, and a sentiment was stamped on a VV banner.  I added a narrower banner behind it (just cut one banner in half) and added a few diecut leaves from Fruitful Blessings for interest.

A few little rhinestones colored with a Cajun Craze blend finished it off!  In hindsight, I wish I had used a different scallop for the sides, but you know how it is....once you've got them adhered, you don't really feel like ripping them off, LOL!  Anyway, I love that little banner, hope you do too!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

SSC316 Thankful

Happy Monday, peeps, and Happy Labor Day!  I have a sweet little card today and it uses the color palette from Sunday Stamps:

I have been dying to use the corn dies from the new Fruitful Blessings set; there is no coordinating stamp, so the dies do all the work! Here we go:

This was inspired by the card shown in the SU catalog, but I chose to use the bottom three hues of the color palette instead...and what do you know....I used Wild Wheat!!!  The top layer of the corn was cut using Wild Wheat, the bottom was Crumb Cake.  I used Very Vanilla for the husks and Mossy Meadow for the leaves.  I love how detailed they are!  The background DSP is from One Horse Open Sleigh, cut with a Stitched Rectangle die:

I added some Wild Wheat Jute Trim for an embellishment, and I inked up a portion of a sentiment from Lasting Joy with my Mossy Meadow marker, then diecut it with a Timeless Arrangements die:

I stamped a sentiment from Fruitful Blessings on the inside and accented it with a little stamped leaf from Lasting Joy as well:

I look forward to playing with this bundle a lot more!  I just need more hours in my days!  Thanks for popping in today...enjoy it and be blessed!

PP656 Four-Legged Friend

Hello friends! Well, we are back from vacation at the Delaware shore; the weather was not very cooperative but it was nice to get away, rest and relax!  I am finding it a challenge to get back into my stamping groove!  That's why today's card is pretty easy and simple!  It's Joanne's turn to host at the Paper Players, and she has a fun and cute theme for us:

Well, this could have gone in many different directions, because all these critters are pretty cute and I have several stamps that could have fit the bill! I did remember some adorable papers I have been hoarding; they're called Little Fawn & Friends, so I thought I'd use them to make my easy card today:

I used the FMS sketch:

The main panel is from Little Fawn & Friends and is matted with a piece of Petal Pink cardstock; the lower panel is a piece of Copper Clay and another piece of the printed paper.  There are larger images on the inside cover of the paper pad that can be fussy-cut, so I cut out the larger deer and mounted it on a Mellow Moss circle that I "painted" with white craft ink to make it a wee bit lighter.  That cute sentiment is from Pick of the Patch...I think this would be a sweet baby card!

I know all of you have a favorite four-legged friend that you would just love to use for our challenge this week!  Be sure to check out what the Design Team has used over at the Paper Players blog, then come share yours too!  Thanks for visiting today!

On our vacation, we stayed in historical Lewes (pronounced Lewis), Delaware; they have flowers EVERYWHERE in this pretty little town; there's a group of dedicated gardeners who plant and maintain them, and I always enjoy seeing them all around town.  These are along the bridge that spans the canal:

A few here and there along the streets:

I thought this was fun; bicycles painted and planted!

And along Fisherman's Wharf, one of the most gorgeous sunsets I've ever seen!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
