Vacation Memories

DSCF7647

I am posting this card this morning because I want everyone to know that not every card I make is stellar (not that I would think that anyway); not every card is even good; in fact, some cards are pretty mediocre.  I don’t usually post the mediocre ones, but this one was pretty funny, so I thought I would post it anyway.  I am going to blame it on the fact that I started this card at 1 am, after having taking half an Ambien because I couldn’t sleep, and then went to my stamp room to wait for the Ambien to take effect.  I saw the SCS challenge, which was Vacation Memories, pulled out some Crafty Secrets vacation Cotton Scraps (that I’ve had forever) and laid them out in a pleasing manner.  Our family spent all our summers at the Delaware shore, so I thought these were perfect images!  This morning I got up and proceeded to sew them together….a disaster.  They were too big to fit on a standard card, too awkward for the next big-sized envelope I had, so I just stuck it on a card the same size and added some twill & a button.  I thought it would be cute for my SIL’s new card, but then I remembered her anti-button fetish!!  Drat!  So this will go to my sister who lives at the beach and loves vintage…..she’ll love it anyway, despite its mediocrity…..

Thankfully from this view you can’t see the really bad sewing job! :D  I did find a cute little dragonfly charm (that would have looked good on THIS card) that added a tiny little bit of redemption to this disaster!  So there, I have bared my soul and shared one of my worst cards ever!!!  There isn’t even any stamping on it!   And I am going to post it on SCS as well as Just Add Ink, whose challenge today is VINTAGE!!!  Thanks for the long post; if you’ve stuck with me this long, you’re a faithful friend!!!

Oh my goodness this is fantastic. It really looks like an old card. The stitching is perfect for the kind of card it is. I love it. My mom and dad worked on the boardwalk in AC. Dan ran the ferris wheel. His mom had the flower shop in Hadden Hall. In the 20's that was the biggest hotel on the boardwalk. This card really reminds me of all the wonderful stories they would tell me about the fun they had in those days.
LeAnne it is a GREAT card.
Hugs,
Linda

I don't know what you're talking about, LeAnne: this card is fab! The stitching ... which looks great from here ... really goes with the vintage feel and images.

You're w-a-y being too hard on yourself ... I think this card rocks!!

Have a great (and restful!) weekend, Sweetie!

THIS CARD IS FANTASTIC! Not a bad one at all! I've experienced with my own work that sometimes when I'm not delighted with the results other people are! :)

You are TOO FUNNY LeAnne! And yes, you had me captivated all the way to the end of the post so I must be a dear friend! ;) I agree with the others, that it FANTASTIC! Of course, you know I love the vintage look...and your "less than perfect" stitching really does look like it's supposed to be that way! I hope we can meet in person someday because I've got a great Ambien story of my own to share with you. All I can say is ...it's a good thing you only take half a pill! :) Hugs & smiles, Pam :)

This card kind of scares me on several levels: I've STOPPED blogging and thought it would leave me some time to (A)visit blogs I love (B)MAYBE start fidding in my craft room, and (C) I bought a new sewing machine.....and I don't sew!!

Now I'm scared......what if I take MY sleeping pill and end up sewing a card?????

LeAnne, I love this card, it just epitomises vintage so much that it's cool! It reminded me of that old song by the Drifters: 'down on the boardwalk".
Your cards are fabulous and your writing is really friendly too! Love Amanda xx

Far from mediocre! I really like what you've done, but I'd be hanging it on the wall rather than sending it! Thanks for playing at Just Add Ink!
