Happy Sunday, everyone! The Paper Players are back in full swing with a new challenge for the new year!
The chalkboard technique is quite popular lately and there are lots of stamps that easily fit into this challenge! It seems everyone has a favorite way of doing it, I merely stamped my image in white craft ink and added a little white chalk on top with a cotton ball. It helps with the “chalkboard” look to make it a little smudgy, but since my sentiment was fairly small, I only smudged around the edges:
I had a couple of duplicate photos from my last photo order, so I thought it would be fun to create a little fridge magnet with one of them. This “love” sentiment from Love You to the Moon is perfect for the chalkboard technique!
I didn’t particularly like the background in my photo (we were having concrete poured that day!) so I added a big sparkly heart right where the taillight of the truck was!!! I added some pink baker’s twine, but it needed a third element to balance it, so I remembered my little dater stamp from the This & That line, and I stamped “remember” on another piece of Basic Black cardstock and added it to the top!
I mounted the Strawberry Slush panel to a piece of Basic Black that had been adhered to a piece of light cardboard, and added a couple magnet strips to the back. Strawberry Slush is such a great Valentine’s color, and it looks awesome paired with black!
So, what can you create with the chalkboard technique? Share it with us at the Paper Players and see what the others have come up with as well:
A special treat….yum!

LeAnne, I love that you used a photo with the chalkboard technique. It really allows the photo to shine, but still pays homage to the technique. I love the new stitched die, too! Hugs

Sweet! Lovin' the stitched die....gotta check that out! And I love how Miss C crinkles her nose!
Adorable! I really need to start printing some of my photos.....
Now who wouldn't love to see this sweet face on their fridge everyday!!! Cute magnet LeAnne!!
love the pink sparkle heart - what a great way to hide the mixer and add pop at the same time! Happy New Year, LeAnne!
Adorable project and even more adorable Cassidy.
So, so cute! Love the polaroid! Adorable photo! Happy 2014!
Not only is your subject adorable- so is the card, LeAnne. So sweet!
Oh I love this. You can't go wrong with that adorable face on the front of anything!
Adorable, LeAnne! Cassidy makes any project perfect!
The heart looks perfect right there and this is a perfect way for Cassidy to remember how much you love her!
Can't believe how big Cassidy is. Love what you did with the photo. I like how the pink and black make the photo pop.
How adorable is this! You know I didn't even realize there was a truck in the background until you mentioned it. I was too focused on those adorable cheeks I wish I could pinch, LOL! Great idea for the chalkboard technique, love it LeAnne!
Sweet!!! Not only is the photograph ADORABLE ... but now you get to see it all the time with it being on your fridge! Love the colors, the technique, and how you've mounted it in a polaroid frame.
What a great idea to use the chalk technique on a fridge magnet! LOVE that pic of Cassidy--she is such a cutie pie. LOVE it! Thanks for rockin' my chalkboard challenge!
