Hey everyone! I am home from a little R&R, late with my Paper Players post, but I finally made it! Jaydee has a wonderful theme for us today:
Unfortunately, I needed a sympathy card as soon as I came home, and my poor Lovely as a Tree has been so neglected, I thought it would be an appropriate set to use:
In keeping with the leaves theme, the leaves on my main panel are stamped with Stazon and watercolored with More Mustard, Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze and Riding Hood Red:
I did some subtle stamping of the same image on the background with Sahara Sand. I used both the Woodgrain background stamp and the Woodgrain embossing folder for some interest and texture. The sentiments inside and out are both from Blessings from Heaven:
My “ribbon” is a piece of More Mustard that I distressed, then separated, to give it a suede look; a little dab of the More Mustard ink pad gave it some additional color. I couldn’t help adding that little leaf from the set!
I also used the RetroSketches sketch #27:
I hope this seasonal challenge will help you segue from summer to fall! Play along with your leaves or tree creation over at the Paper Players blog---we can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Welcome home my dear friend ~ hope you had some great R&R time ~ this card is absolutely fabulous, love your 'ribbon' effect! Enjoy your day!!!
Beau-ti-ous! Fall is my favorite season and color pallette. The time you took to create such a beautiful card will bring some solace and in a challenging time of grief.
This is SO pretty, LeAnne! I love the texture you added with the woodgrain EF, the ribbon and the foliage background on the panel.
Hope your R&R was fantastic!
Lovely card, the colors are so rich and comforting, so are the textures, just like a favorite blanket...
Love this! Am working on mine and I'm on the same bent so have to switch it up a bit LOL! Great colours adn use of the wood grain. Love the little tabs and torn edge too.
LeAnne - I love this card! What a beautiful job of interpreting you did! I have printed it out so that I can try a version of my own. If I like how it comes out, I'll send you one. Many thanks, as always, for your lovely creations. I LOVE to look at your blog. Cassidy is growing up this summer.
Glad to see you back - hope you enjoyed your R&R. Sorry to hear you needed a sympathy card though. This card is wonderful. Your colouring on the leaves is great and I love the little triangles peaking out from the image/sentiment panel. Your "suede ribbon" is a wonderful way to finish it all off.
What a stunning card!
Fantastic use of this wonderful set! I love the subtle stamping as a background to the beautifully colored leaves! The woodgrain background and stamped "ribbon" are so clever!
