HSS402 Floating Ornament

Happy Thursday, everyone!  I'm sharing a fun Christmas card that I made with our club girls this week, and it just happens to fit the color challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments!

I had seen this technique somewhere in blogland but can't remember where, so I apologize for not giving credit where it is due!  I believe it's called a floating ornament, so here we go:

The Lights Aglow Specialty DSP is perfect for the challenge; I merely cut 3/8" strips at least 4" long, and adhered them to a 4" square of Window Sheet acetate, then used the largest (3") Layering Circle die to cut it out.  Foam dimensional strips were then placed under the strips to make it "float" on the Basic White panel. The gold foil elements are from the Spruced Up Outline dies; they work perfectly with the little gold accents in the paper.  The "hanger" at the top of the ornament is actually the bow from the present die; we just cut out the top portion and adhered it under the ornament top (or the "pumpkin", as my girls affectionately called it!):

The panel then went on a Soft Succulent card base, and we stamped a beautiful sentiment from Hope and Peace on the inside in Evening Evergreen ink:

This was a fun project and it was really easy to do!  Great way to use up those little skinny scraps too! I recommend using grid paper under your window sheet to make sure you get your pieces aligned! Thanks for popping in today, enjoy it and be blessed!

TSOT583 Deer John

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Popping in today with a special card for a special guy...today is hubby John's birthday!  I usually make him a sailboat card but since he is a hunter, I decided to make a "deer" John card, LOL:

Obviously, it's not THAT kind of Dear John card, and hopefully he'll like it!  I stamped the deer on Very Vanilla cardstock in Stazon Black and used Cinnamon Cider ink to color her in.  She was fussy-cut and mounted on another piece of Very Vanilla which was shaded with Misty Moonlight and Night of Navy inks.  The background panels are from some 6x6 pads in my stash, and the horizontal Mossy Meadow strip was distressed and stamped with Gorgeous Grunge.  Sentiment is from Your Biggest Fan!

My sketch came from Try Stampin' On Tuesday:

Thanks for visiting today!

In addition to all the other gazillion things I have going on this week, it's Operation Christmas Child shoebox packing time! We did shoeboxes on our own this year instead of at church, so Cassidy spent Sunday afternoon getting hers ready:

She did one for a boy and one for a girl and she had fun picking out all the goodies to put inside!  It's so fun to imagine the children opening them up!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AHSC499 So Thankful For You

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  Hope your week is getting off to a good start...yesterday sort of got away from me, I had two stamp clubs, but we had a lot of fun!  The Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge always has great sketches, and since I still had the Rustic Harvest DSP on my desk, I decided to go for another Thanksgiving card.  Here's the sketch:

And here's the card:

I cut layers of the DSP to match the sketch, then diecut a Very Vanilla panel with the Scalloped Contours die.  The opposite side of the rust-colored DSP has a black background with white assorted leaves, so I fussy-cut several of them and used markers to color them, then created a spray with them:

I used a sentiment from last year's Pretty Pumpkins set, adding some sprinkles from Friends are Like Seashells, and I added a Linen Thread bow to my leaves to finish it off!

Our leaves are way past these colors, so it was fun to keep these leaves pretty for a wee bit longer!  Thanks for popping in today!

Dana's friend's little girl turned one over the weekend; you know Cassidy, she never turns down a chance to hold a baby!

What a cute little punkin!  Their outfits almost coordinate!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP617 Winter Greetings

Hi stamping friends!  Happy Sunday! It's time for a new Paper Players challenge and the creative Jaydee is our hostess with a fun color challenge:

I had a stamp image in mind when I began this challenge, and I wasn't thinking shaker, but somehow it morphed into one!  Here we go:

This little snowman from Close to My Heart seemed to be perfect to sit inside a snow globe, but I had no snow globe stamps, so I did some creative diecutting after stamping him in Pacific Point ink and adding a wee bit of blending:

I added a window sheet, used some Foam Adhesive Strips to create the shaker, then added some Pretty Pink Posh snowflakes inside.  For the base of the snow globe, I used the Stylish Shapes die to cut some Silver foil, adding a sentiment from Christmas to Remember:

I stamped and colored the sentiment from the same CTMH set on the front:

And added a sentiment from Snowman Magic on the inside:

I hope you'll play with our pretty color palette this week....it doesn't have to be a Christmas card, either!  I can't wait to see what your creative minds come up with!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

God's Blessings

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Just a quick card today using the pretty pumpkin patterned paper from Rustic Harvest, making a quick Thanksgiving card:

I mounted the DSP on a Mossy Meadow card, then stamped a partial sentiment from Hope & Peace on a piece of Basic White, then embossed it with a Stitched With Whimsy die.  It looked a little lost, so I added a Cajun Craze mat, diecut with the Scalloped Contours die.  I created two Mossy Meadow and Old Olives leaves with the Sunflower die and finished it off with some retired Mossy Meadow twine:

Finally, I stamped a couple sentiments from the retired A Day of Thanks on the inside!

We have a Veteran's Breakfast today, along with chandelier cleaning at church, then a chili cook-off!  What a busy day!  Enjoy YOUR day and be blessed!

Sparkly Birthday Candles

Happy Friday, peeps!  Gray and cloudy here, hope all down south are doing okay.  I have a card for three challenges, and let me say, it was a dastardly card to create, LOL!  First, the challenges:  Seize the Birthday wants many of something (I used candles), CAS on Sunday wants sparkle, and I used the sketch from Fusion:

So here we go:

Although the concept of this was simple, diecutting all those itty bitty candles and flames from various scraps of glimmer paper tried my patience, LOL!  I was happy with the end result, though...it was worth it.  I did use my new Sticky Mats from Sweet Petunia...they're very helpful for keeping wee little pieces from straying!  Here's my  candle lineup....probably a bit crooked but they're down for good!

The candle dies as well as the sentiment and die are from Charming Sentiments and the matching Sentiment Silhouette dies.  I also used a retired Jumbo Polka Dot embossing folder for my Basic White card!

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS561 Christmas Pine Cones

Happy Thursday, everyone!  Gearing up for a very busy weekend, so I am getting all my stamping done today and tomorrow, LOL!  I love Linda's sketch for FMS this week:

and although I was very tempted to use my Postage Stamp punch, I opted for some Stitched Rectangle dies and some pretty DSPs:

I diecut the Painted Christmas pinecone paper with a rectangle die, then added a mat using the bark paper from Boughs of Holly.  I blended some Soft Succulent ink behind the panels before adhering them, and since I don't have any current pine branch stamps, I opted to use one of the Trees for Sale trees...works like a charm!  Isn't it fun when your stamps can be used for more than one option?!  I added a few "sprinkles" in Crumb Cake with a stamp from Friends are Like Seashells, and a wee bit of Linen Thread:

I distressed the edges a little bit and sponged some Crumb Cake ink, then stamped sentiments outside and in using the Brightest Glow stamp set!  Everything went on a Crumb Cake base.

I am also entering this at Krafty Chicks, since this is their Christmas week!  That's it for today! Oh, I did want to share a photo Dana's SIL posted; she is an excellent photographer and really has an eye for capturing the most awesome images:

This is the best and ONLY way I like cobwebs, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
