PP575 Just a Little Note

Hello, peeps!  Happy Sunday!  It's time for a new Paper Players challenge, with Jaydee as our hostess!  She has a wonderful sketch for us...this sketch is probably my all-time favorite one to use, it's a real "go-to" when I want to make a card in a hurry, LOL!  Here's the sketch:

I wanted to revisit some of the pretty papers that are in the main SU catalog...they sort of get short shrift when the minis come rolling around, and I thought the Pansy Petals DSP would be perfect for a fun, springy creation:

The DSP did most of the work!  I used a Pale Papaya plaid for the bottom section and did some more stencilling for the polka-dotted top.  I fussy-cut two pansies to match and added some diecut leaves:

The "seamline" looked a little plain, so I added a scalloped border, then sponged a wee skinny strip of Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper with some Pale Papaya ink and adhered it on top for a bit of snazz!  Finally, some In Color jewels were popped into the center of the flowers, and a sweet little sentiment from Special Moments was stamped directly on the DSP in Calypso Coral ink!  It all resides on a Pale Papaya card.

I hope you'll play along with the Players and use this versatile sketch to make a special card for a special someone!  Share it with us at the Players' blog and check out what the DT made a swell!  Thanks for popping in today!

Cassidy had a sleepover this weekend and we watched Encanto...unusual but cute!  She was quite absorbed (and knew the Bruno song by heart!):

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS519 Stenciled Flowers

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Brrr, it's still pretty darn cold here!  Trying to conjure up some warmth by stamping and stenciling with the new layered stencils in the SU mini catalog...they're called Butterflies & Flowers Layering Decorative Masks....but I call them stencils!  This is my first attempt...I did do a little "oversponging" on one of the leaves but for my first try, it wasn't bad:

I used Blending Brushes with So Saffron and Bumblebee inks for my flowers, and Old Olive for the leaves.  I used the confetti image from Your Biggest Fan to add some interest in the white space, then added on a couple of Matte Decorative Dots:

It was matted with Old Olive cardstock and I used a piece of Sweet Symmetry on top of So Saffron cardstock as my base.  The sentiment, also stamped in Old Olive, is the SAB set, Special Moments:

Finally, the sketch I used is from Freshly Made Sketches:

There are lots of possibilities with these stencils...I can't wait to try out some of the other ones!  Thanks for visiting today, enjoy it and be blessed!

GDP326 Misty Moonlight Valentine

Hello peeps!  Happy Friday!  I have a Valentine card today that's a little unusual in that the main color is Misty Moonlight! I used the sketch from the Global Design Project:

The blue medallion pattern in the Heart and Home DSP is so classic, I wanted to use it but in a whimsical way with some pretty little hearts!  So here we go:

I used the Stitched Be Mine dies to cut out some Misty Moonlight hearts, then some Basic White hearts and the rose outline.  I mounted them on a square of white cardstock embossed with the Stitched with Whimsey dies:

My horizontal banner is the opposite side of the DSP, and I added some rhinestones and a sequin for a wee bit of sparkle.  The sentiment is from Quiet Meadow, and it fits that heart quite nicely!  The inside sentiment is from the Sale-a-bration set Special Moments:

This is a great non-traditional way to create a Valentine for a friend!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC456 Sorry for your Loss

Happy Thursday, peeps!  I have a friend who lost a dear pet recently.  The sketch at Atlantic Hearts was another great way to use up some scraps:

And here we go:

I began by diecutting some strips of Meadow designer paper from Authentique and layering them behind a rectangle of Basic White.  I stamped a little kitty and colored it in Smoky Slate, then fussy-cut it out and popped it up on the panel.  The sentiment, from Pampered Pets, was stamped in Soft Succulent ink.  I added a couple of acrylic dots  and a back layer of Soft Sky to frame it:

I hope it gives her family some comfort!  Thanks for stopping in today!

My cousin's daughter is an amazing young lady.  During her high school years, she developed a tumor in her brain; she had surgery and recovered, but eventually it caused the nerves in her foot to atrophy and she decided to have it amputated.  She has a prothesis, is a wonderful role model for others who have gone through the same trauma, and remains a happy, upbeat mom.  All that to say, when she shared this on FB lately, I just had to share....it was her version of a snow angel, made during the recent snowfall we had here in PA:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TCC168 Coffee or Cocoa

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  It's time for a new wintery Card Concept challenge, where we share the concept we used to create our cards!  Here's the gorgeous prompt that Julie has chosen for us:

I just loved those little cups of cocoa, but I knew there would be lots of cards in the gallery using cups, so I went in a different direction!  I recently got this Tim Holtz Nordic Christmas cover die and thought it would be fun to use!  It's a bit fiddly, poking out all the pieces, but they come out easily! I would call this clean and layered:

I started with a piece of Basic White and ran it through the die, then diecut some selected areas in Chocolate Chip and Evening Evergreen, poking out the diecuts that I wanted to add back in, sort of like a puzzle!  I backed the white piece with some Real Red cardstock, then just popped in my pieces My Evening Evergreen card base is a little larger than normal because I did not want to trim down my die!

For the sentiment, I used the largest house diecut and used a stamp from Itty Bitty Christmas in Real Red, then popped it up and offset it:

My final addition was a checked bow using some really, really old ribbon I've had in my stash!  I would have preferred it to be a little more deeper red (it seems more like Poppy Parade to me) but it was all I could find!  I hope the recipient won't mind!

So what will inspire you from our photo prompt this week?  I hope you'll share your creation with us, and tell us what your "concept" is (the details are on the blog) so we can see it too!  Thanks for visiting today!

How can she be getting so GROWN-UP?!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RRCB174 Pastel Angels

Hello, peeps!  It's the first Retro Rubber challenge of 2022, where we give our older stamps some love, and Jane has some really cute prompts for us!  Here's our first one...dig it!

I feel like a ninny because these would be perfect colors for a Valentine's card, but I pulled out a Christmas stamp from 2011 by Stampendous; I had seen my creative friend Lisa use this and I just had to have it for myself!  And here is my pastel card:

Aren't those little angels adorable?  I stamped them on Shimmery White paper with Stazon ink and watercolored them with reinkers of Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron, Balmy Blue and Blushing Bride:

I added some pastel snowflakes and mounted it on some retired snowy DSP from SU; the sentiment is from Itty Bitty Christmas (2019).  I am also entering this at the Krafty Chicks Christmas challenge #594 for this week!

SO....what will you stamp with these pretty pastel colors?  Just make sure you use a stamp that's at least one year old, tell us the date of the stamp in your post and then share it with us at Retro Rubber!  Can't wait to see what you create!  Thanks for popping in today!

I made sure my bird feeders were full this past weekend, as it was very cold!  Plus John gave me a bird bath heater for Christmas and I was hoping to see some birds finally taking advantage of it!  Success!! This male bluebird came back several times:

And this Northern mockingbird gave me a look as if to say "Mind your own business!"  I apologize for the fuzzy pictures, I was taking these from inside, through a screen!  But you can still see them pretty clearly!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."  Hebrews 12:2-3

TSOT538 My Friend

Happy Monday, peeps!  Today is a good day to stay inside and stamp!  I did a wee bit of that yesterday before watching PBS's All Things Great and Small....love that show!  Anyone else watching it? I remember reading those books when I was younger!  Anyway, I had been pushing these scraps around on my desk from another project and finally saw a sketch from Try Stampin on Tuesday that would work with them:

And here's how I worked my scraps into the card:

I trimmed down the Hand Penned DSP to fit the card front and matted it with some Basic Black.  The banners were cut from the same DSP, adding a fishtail cut so that the patterns were opposite.  The tag, tied with some gingham ribbon was already finished (the sentiment is from Easter Friends). so I plopped that on top with a dimensional:

Finally, I adhered it all to a mat that was embossed with the Timeworn Type embossing folder and it went on a Basic White base!  Easy and cute!  Thanks for popping by!

We celebrated Wayne's birthday and our anniversary, both on the same day, on Saturday night at a local pub!  Lots of fun and yummy food!  You can see there was nothing left of that chocolate dessert on the center of the table!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
