CAS On Sunday Christmas Silhouette

Hi peeps!  I have a very quick, CAS Christmas card for you today....I had this sitting on my desk, thinking it needed something more, and when I saw the CAS On Sunday challenge of Christmas in July, I thought I would leave it as it is!  It is most definitely clean and simple!

I used a Night of Navy base and a little silhouette scene from Cottage Kutz and some gingham ribbon from SU.  The sentiment is from Sweet & Sassy's We Three Kings.  The inside sentiment is equally clean and simple, it's from W+9's Merry and Bright:

Dana snagged this while on vacation:

So sweet!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS346 and Addicted to CAS141 Hello Summer

Hello, friends!  It's good to be back; we went to the Delaware shore for a little vacation!  The weather was incredible, and we came home in the rain and so far it hasn't stopped!  We have flooding of the little streams in the back and front of our property!  And they're calling for a week more!  GAH!  Anyway, I'm trying to get back into the stamping swing of things, as I feel pretty rusty!  My card today is a just a little simple one using the Freshly Made Sketches sketch and the Addicted to CAS code word of "Summertime":

When I got the Country Road stamp set, I thought that the wagon wheel looked a little bit like a citrus fruit, so I put it to work on this creation, using Grapefruit Grove, Pineapple Punch and Lemon Lime Twist for my colors:

I added a couple of sentiments from various sets, a layer of In Color DSP and finally, a sprinkle of sequins from my stash:

A good way to get back into my stamping groove!!  Thanks for popping in today!

Dana and family went on vacation the same time we did; they went to Virginia Beach and had a wonderful time:

Wayne is quite a magician!  He turned Cassidy into a mermaid!

Then he created a sea horse:

Clever guy!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RRCB91 Summer Birthday Sketch

Hi peeps!  It's Tuesday and that means another RetroRubber challenge!  Woohoo!  We have a sweet little sketch this time around:

No automatic alt text available.

I pulled out a set from the 2017 Occasions catalog called Day at the Beach for my sunshiney birthday card today:

I stamped each element with Stazon ink on Shimmery White cardstock and watercolored them in, fussy-cut them, then mounted them on some papers from American Crafts (Little by Little by Shimelle).  I used Pineapple Punch, Flirty Flamingo, Mint Macaron and Balmy Blue for my colors:

I added a little stitched scallop at the bottom and stamped a birthday sentiment (Altenew's Label Love), then added some Mint Macaron thick baker's twine.  My final embellishments were some stitched stickers from SRM!  Cute and easy!  I have a dear friend who loves the beach and her birthday is next month...so this will be winging its way to her!

I hope you'll play with our challenge this week...remember that your stamps have to be at least a year old and you must tell us how old they are!!  Can't wait to see what you create!

Now......I am taking a little blogging break....see you in a few days!!

PP401 To Thank You

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Hope your weekend is going swimmingly!  Joanne is our Paper Players hostess today with an incredible color combination!  Check out these gorgeous colors:

I must admit at first, these colors felt a bit intimidating; then I began to have lots of ideas but no time in which to put them to paper!  Darn!  Anyway, I did do two simple cards, the first using the Freshly Made Sketches sketch, which almost did me in with that skewed panel:

I colored a panel of a piece of Graceful Glass vellum with markers (Granny Apple Green and Highland Heather) and Lovely Lipstick ink and a blender pen, then added a white-embossed sentiment from Rooted in Nature and some black and white washi tape:

The tilt to the sentiment makes me feel a little wonky, but I am going with it!

My second card uses some dies that I won recently, and I don't know the manufacturer, sorry!  I cut each sentiment from one of the challenge colors, then simply adhered them to a card that had been run through the Big Shot with an older Papertrey texture plate.  I added some baker's twine from my stash, a glimmer embellishment and some little stitched hearts from Stitched Labels and called it a day...easy peasy!

Thanks for popping in today...hope you'll stop by the Paper Players blog, check out what the other DT members created (there are some lovely ones there!!) and share your creation with us too!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

At a recent trip to McD's

we found Mrs Incredible holding up Cassidy's drink cup:

LOL, I am not quite sure what prompted that look, but it's priceless!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI180 A Garden Birthday Sketch

Hi everyone!  Happy Friday...and it's time for another As You See It challenge, this time it's a nice little sketch:

The DSPs from Garden Impressions  have so many pretty patterns, it's hard to choose which ones to choose!  For today's card, I finally decided on this abstract pattern in cool blues and greens:

I added layers in Soft Sky (I know it's retired, but it looked good with it!), Blueberry Bushel and Very Vanilla as well as a banner cut from a different DSP in the same set.  The Soft Sky oval was embossed with the little stitched design from Stitched Labels, and the horizontal sentiment panel uses the same set of dies:

I stamped a sentiment from Stitched All Around in Tranquil Tide, then stamped a little floral from Perennial Birthday in Blueberry Bushel, colored it with Blends and fussy-cut it out.  A bit of baker's twine finishes the embellishments!  And I combined both sets for the inside sentiment as well:

I hope you'll play along with our pretty sketch...lots and lots of possibilities for creativity with it!  Be sure to share it with us at As You See It!

Speaking of gardens, I thought I would share just a couple of our zucchinis....most of them I have managed to pick before they got to this size!  I could use these as weights and get some bodybuilding in!!  So happy you stopped by....enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB28 S'mores for a Boy

Happy Thursday, peeps, and welcome back to another Inspired By challenge!  I needed another baby card, another boy one, too and the prompt Laurel had for us today gave me just the colors I needed for this little bruiser...he weighed in at over eleven pounds when he was born!!!

And in case you were wondering about the "s'mores" in the title, here's the prompt:

Now I am not much of a s'mores fan...I know, weird, right?!  I like all the ingredients of these gooey treats, I just don't like them together!!  I love chocolate, I love marshmallows on a campfire, I love graham crackers with some milk, but they're just too sweet all smooshed together!  But these colors are perfect for the wee little critters from I Dig You, don't you think:

The colors of Bermuda Bay, Early Espresso and the retired Creamy Caramel all worked together so well!  I added some Candy Dots and brads for the wheels, and I just happened to find this little corrugated star I had punched for a previous project but never used!  The sentiment is from Nursery Necessities, stamped on a stitched tag die and also embellished with a Candy Dot:

I added a sentiment and stars from the same Nursery Necessities set!!

Finally, the sketch I used is from the past Fall to Layout #79; I flipped the sketch so the truck wouldn't be driving off the edge of my card:

I hope you'll find some sweet summer inspiration from our photo this week!  Be sure to post it over at the Inspired By blog so we can ALL enjoy it!

Just a girl and her dog, out for ride in the jeep.  Cassidy doesn't seem to mind that Eden is sitting on her lap, LOL!

Thanks for popping in today!   Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Easy Shaker Cards

Hi peeps!  Thought I would share what we made at our club meetings yesterday.  At the beginning of the year, I had a few suggestions of techniques to try and a shaker card was one of them.  I usually don't have good luck with shaker cards....the sequins stick to the sides of the window when I use adhesive strips and they just frustrate me.  So I set out to try to find a different way, and although we still had some "stickage", I think it was an acceptable attempt.  The card itself is very simple, using Jar of Love and Iridescent Sequins, but we were focusing on technique more than stamping!  So here's the card:

And the "technique" was to use a sheet of 2mm Fun Foam, available at any big box or craft store, instead of the adhesive strips.
  1. I cut a piece of the foam slightly smaller than my top layer, and after stamping the jar on the Whisper White panel, I laid the foam underneath and cut both layers in the Big Shot with the Everyday Jars die.  You can cut them both in one pass!
  2. I adhered a Window Sheet on the back side of the jar, then used Elmer's Craft Bond glue on the foam piece (that's the only glue that I found that really worked on the foam) around the edges of the opening and adhered the foam to the back of the stamped panel.  I smooshed the glue around with my fingers to make sure I had a nice coverage, but don't use so much that it glops out!
  3. Once it's dry and secure, I attached the goldfish to the card base with mini dimensionals, piled on a little pile of sequins, then used the same Craft Bond glue to attach the jar layer to the card base, applying the glue to the other side of the foam piece.  It is a good idea to use some Tombow adhesive on the outer edges of the foam to make sure the whole thing is adhered down.
Now, don't these little fishies look cute swimming in their iridescent water?  I love that by using dies and the foam, you can easily cut any shape of opening without having to bend those adhesive strips around!

To give my girls something a wee bit easier, we made this note card with the Wood Words floral image, stamped on a piece of Mango Melody which had a circle die-cut from the center.  I took a 2x8" cello bag, cut it down to 2 1/4", filled it with sequins, taped it shut (use clear tape, not frosted!), then taped it to the back of the stamped piece, centering it over the opening.  I just used plain old scotch tape, taping the corners and making sure no sequins were stuck in them!  Then I adhered the piece to the note card using a dimensional in each corner and stamped the sentiments on the front and inside!  Another cute technique, quickly done and using the cello bags makes them really easy!

We didn't make these note cards during class, but I had made them as samples; the first one used a leaf image from Rooted in Nature stamped in Stazon ink on the window sheet; the second used a longer piece of a cello bag behind the negative portion of the "celebrate" diecut:

Thanks for popping in!  Maybe you'll be inspired to make a shaker card too!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Ahh, the satisfaction of a puzzle completed!
