Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you have something fun planned this weekend! It's time for a new As You See It challenge, and it's a recipe! They're always fun:
I needed a sort of get well card for an acquaintence.....she had a serious accident with a zero-turn mower and I won't go into a lot of detail (but you can use your imagination!). But she has a very positive outlook and is optimistic about her ability to adapt, and I really wanted to send her a card! So here we go:
This little turtle is from a 2019 set called Back on Your Feet, and the images are so cute, I'll never part with it! I stamped this little guy in Stazon Black ink and watercolored him with three different colors of green ink! He was diecut with a Stitched Shape die, and I added some embossing on the right panel with the Cute Crochet embossing folder along with a fun little border diecut using the Scalloped Contours dies:
I added a Natural Tones linen thread so I could attach my little tag:
None of the other sentiments in the sets seemed appropriate, so I added a CTMH sentiment on the inside:
The sketch I used comes from the FMS challenge this week by the talented Jen Mitchell:
And I am squeaking it in just under the wire at Retro Rubber, which is a tic-tac-toe grid; I chose the top row across of green, diecut and stitching:
Now, in case you were a little put off by my friend's accident, here's some happier news! The Philadelphia Zoo just had four endangered Galapagos tortoises hatch!!
They gave them the names of the Golden Girls: Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia! And their parents are almost 100 years old! You can read more about it here! Fascinating story!
Anyway, I hope you'll play along with our fun recipe this week and create something with a zoo (or other) animal! You can check out what all the designers created at the As You See It blog, and share yours there too!

Lol, so fun LeAnne, I wondered if you'd sneak this guy in here, too - he's fabulous! Way to go, and my fave DSP for that color, too! Thanks so much for playing at Retro Rubber!
Perfect card! I will never part with this stamp set either! I love your coloring & the DSP, and the scalloped trim is a nice touch! Your friend will love the card!!
Congrats on the new Golden Girls!! Have a great weekend!
LeAnne your adorable little turtle reminds me of a favorite cartoon from childhood - you might know it even though I've been around a lot longer! ha! Love him as the star of that Sketch!
I can't think about your friend without getting faint - so I will concentrate on the fun news from the zoo! So exciting!

Oh my stars, how cute is this little fella! So sorry to hear about your friend's accident... that's some scary stuff!
The smile this card brings is bound to speed up your friend's recovery! Ouch, for sure!
I'm sorry that you needed to make this card, but it is adorable! I'm sure it will put a smile on her face!
What an adorable Get Well card! I love the touch of the linen thread and how you put the sentiment on the tiny tag. So cute! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches.
The turtle brings a smile all on his own but your watercolouring is spot on. Lovely card, even if for a sad reason. :-)
That little turtle always brings a smile to my face LeAnne - I hope it will cheer your friend too. I love the little sentiment tag - perfect to incorporate the twine too. So sweet!
LeAnne, you always have the perfect touch with a card! I loved that stamp set! And this is the perfect occasion for it, along with the perfect sentiment! I hope it gives your friend some cheer amidst the pain she must be feeling!
