How lucky that the card I made last night for Susan’s One Layer Wednesday Christmas card challenge had sponging…which is the CAS challenge today at SCS too! I fell in love with this card from Jennifer, so set out to do one of my own….just a tad bit simpler. I used some Whisper White textured card stock and the SU set Come to Bethlehem for my main image. Before I stamped it, I used a Nestie to cut out a rectangle from a scrap of paper, used some Dotto to adhere it to the card, then sponged the opening with Marina Mist ink and stamped my image in Basic Black:
Since this card (and hopefully a few more I can do) will be going to prisoners to send to their families, I wasn’t allowed to put any bling on it…..so it really was clean & simple! The sentiment is from a retired SU set called Star-Studded Season. I like the rustic look the textured cardstock gives it.
Now, for a little bit about my stamping Saturday! Here is a photo of all of us together:
Back row: Janice, Jill, Carol, and me; front row: Pattie, Denise, Cherie & Korin.
The whole shindig was put on by Korin Sutherland (poor thing---I mispronounced her name most of the day) and we had lots of food, fun and chatter—although not much stamping by me!!! I guess I was having too much fun checking out everyone’s stamps and Copics and coloring techniques and all the other fun stuff that was floating around…..I think when I am in a crowd, I have stamping ADD!!! But I had FUN, and thank you, Korin, for planning it all! Here’s a picture of me with my sweet friend Denise:
And here are Carol and Denise; I blog regularly with Carol, but met her for the first time on Saturday:
and then me, Korin and Denise:
Here are Pattie & Janice, stamping away:
Thanks again, Korin! Can’t wait to do it again!!! And in the quiet of my own stamp room, I hope to play with some of the images and papers my friends so generously shared with me! And on a last note, I just have to share this photo of my DGD wearing her new snowsuit…..it was really cold one morning so DD dressed her in it to bring her to Grammie’s:
She reminded us of little Randy in “The Christmas Story”!!! Enjoy your day!

It was SOOOOOO fun on Saturday and I hope we get to do it again real soon. :)
Just look at that sweet DGD...love her cuddly snow suit. She looks totally huggable!
Your card is lovely...I don't know why I look so unhappy in all the pics...I was having a great time on Saturday and I hope we get to do it again...
I love all the texture on this C&S card - it's beautiful! As for Saturday, I completely enjoyed myself and can hardly wait to do it again! I was so busy gabbing and watching that I didn't get a whole lot done either, but that's OK. I wouldn't have changed a thing!
Little Cassidy looks quite proud of her new snowsuit and I love how that little cutie pie smiles for the camera all the time. I think she's a star in the making :)
Beautiful card! :)
I love your one-layer card! The sponged BG is fantastic and I love the textured look of the stamp. What a cute little snow bunny too :-)
This is simply pretty LeAnne. I just love it!
I love the simplicity of this card. It is so still and calm, it really conveys the heart of the season.
I think that little Cassidy looks cozy and warm and just like she is ready for some cuddles!
Beautiful card, LeAnne! I love how it looks as if it were stamped on canvas! And Cassidy looks adorable in her snow suit! What a cutie-patootie!
Your card looks great stamped on the textured card stock - love the blues - and what a fun stamping time you guys had!
