Paper Players 204

DSCF4113

Good morning, peeps!  I am the hostess at the Paper Players today, and I’ve got a color challenge for you!  Here you go:

Recently, I received this sweet card from a friend, and was enamoured with the colors in it---three of them were similar to our new In Colors:

So that is from where I drew my inspiration, not only for the colors but some of the elements in my own card:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Paper Players 204 Flower Patch

Instead of a heart, I used a Labels die and stamped some of the floral images from Flower Patch randomly on the white panel.  In hindsight, I wish I had not used the lighter shade of Blackberry Bliss (just stamped off on scrap paper) as I think it detracts from the true color, but I’ve had a busy weekend and I just didn’t have time for a re-do!  I did stamp some leaf images directly onto the All Abloom DP, which is kind of fun, and did a pleated ribbony thing to mimic the banner in the inspiration card.  A sentiment from And Many More, with some pearl embellishments, finished it off!

I hope you will visit the Paper Players blog, or the designers’ blogs, because they ROCKED these colors….they are all just gorgeous!  Here they are:

Happy Friday, peeps!  Today is family day—big wedding day for my niece and I get to spend some time with ALL my siblings and family and dad….a banner day for me, so this will be short and sweet!  Can you stand another wedding card?  I know someone will be at my door today asking if I have any wedding cards made, and when I saw that CAS(e) This Sketch was featuring both my friends Lesley and Tracey, I knew I had to play along….besides, the sketch by Chrissy is awesome!  I took a few tiny liberties with it.  Here it is:

Lesley’s card and layout really inspired me! I just changed the flowers to hearts….lot of them:

Again, the colors are pink and gold, and I don’t think I ever used this beautiful gold vellum (which is on special this week at SU!!!!) but it was perfect for my theme!  I used a sentiment from Delightful Dozen, added a few Brushed Gold hearts and it was done!  CAS for sure!

Enjoy your day!

Cassidy was a busy little girl yesterday!  She sang Frozen’s Let it Go to me:

convinced her 17YO cousin to sit down and have a tea party with her (he is SUCH a good sport!)

Happy Thursday, peeps!  My sister asked me to make her a wedding card for my niece, and her colors are pink and gold, so I pulled out some beautiful Graphic 45 paper I just got, and used it with the Freshly Made Sketches sketch for this week, created by Karren:
I struggled with this card; I think I should have left the gold panel plain instead of adding the gold embossing, but I hope she likes it anyway!!!

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Fresh Vintage Stampin Up Wedding

I did a little stamping on the Pink Pirouette card base with Versamark and the swirl from Everything Eleanor; the gold embossed floral is a SAB set from last year, Fresh Vintage, stamped on Brushed Gold cardstock; the embossed sentiment is from the retired set Fabulous Phrases, punched out with the jewelry tag punch:

DSCF4075

I added a little SU button and some pink baker’s twine for a little bit of whimsy!  Thanks for visiting!

We picked almost 40 pounds of blueberries in the last three days from our very generous neighbor’s farm.  Cassidy was totally enthralled by the trays of frozen berries:

DSCF4055

John and I have a system for washing and drying them; he built a huge wooden tray with mesh on the bottom; he washes them with the hose, then dries them with the air hose from his shop!  I put freezer paper on cookie sheets, lay them out in a single layer with little blocks of wood in each corner and stack them up in the freezer.  Once they’re frozen, we roll up the paper and pour the berries in freezer bags!  Cassidy also thought the little wooden blocks were fun to play with….honestly, these kept her busy the whole entire time I was working in the kitchen:

DSCF4061

Of course, she ate (and played with) a few of the frozen berries along the way!!  If you have any questions about my card, shoot me an email!

Kraft Journal 179

DSCF4026
Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Halfway through the week!!!  I got out my aquapainter and reinkers to make my little card today!  The Kraft Journal has a Sea and Sand challenge this week, and I had totally forgotten about this sweet little image of beach children when I was doing our beachy-themed card for the Paper Players, so I inked it up for the Kraft Journal:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Beach Babies Stampin Papertrey

I wanted to make it into a postcard-style image, but it always bothers me that the post card words are on the wrong side of the post card---they should be on the back, right?!  Anyway, I had went with it….I had so much fun painting these little bathing beauties, and making an ocean scene is about the only scenery I can do….I even added a little shimmer to the ocean with some shimmer paint:

DSCF4028

and then I added the postal images and a couple of sentiments:

DSCF4029

and mounted it on a Crumb Cake card base!  I added a little birthday sentiment on the inside too!  Thanks for visiting today!

ColourQ249 and an Experiment

DSCF4005

Hey peeps!  It’s Tuesday, and look at this cute pillow Arielle found as her inspiration this week for the ColourQ:

I’ve been on a pillow-making frenzy the last week myself, but mine aren’t as cute as these!  I really wanted to incorporate a bird into my card, but the only one I could come up with was the toucan from Zoo Babies!  So here we go:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings ColourQ249 Zoo Babies Stampin Up Hi There

I heat-embossed each bird in white ink and white EP on cardstock in the challenge colors, then popped them out with a 1 1/4” circle punch.  The new set, Hi There, had a perfect trendy sentiment, so I stamped it in Poppy Parade and popped it up on a white circle and added some thick twine in Coastal Cabana.

DSCF4006

They’re on a diecut mat from Lil’Inkers and my Coastal Cabana panel is embossed with a Cuttlebug EF.  And those sassy chicks at Just Us Girls have changed things up a bit, so their challenge this week is a word challenge---BIRD!!  Woohoo!  So I am linking this up there as well!

I made a second card using the challenge colors…I kind of wanted to experiment with stamping on tissue paper to make faux washi tape, but Cassidy was napping in the room where the tissue paper was, and I didn’t dare want to disturb her, so I tried stamping on a napkin!  LOL!  It turns out to be a wee bit fragile, but sort of fun…I used the As You See It challenge sketch, turning it on its side:

AYSIChallenge044

and did some die-cutting:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings ColourQ249 Tape It Stampin Up

The banners sort of flutter…I really didn’t want to try to tape them down!  This uses Tape It and dies from Chalk Talk and the Circle Card Thinlets on a notecard!  And here’s the inside, using the “yay” diecut with Endless Birthday Wishes:

Hope you can play along with us at the ColourQ!  I always love to see what the designers as well as the participants come up with!

Merry Monday 116

DSCF3995
Happy Monday, peeps!  Wow, what a fabulous weekend we had…hope yours was good too!  I am the hostess at the Merry Monday challenge today; here is my challenge for you:

I saw this pretty decoration on Pinterest here and just had to snag it!  Such a nice rustic look!  Unfortunately, all the ideas in my head were going to take too much time and I really needed to make this card CAS, as July is just a crazy month!  So I pulled out a Hero Arts stamp I got last year:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Merry Monday 116 Peace Christmas Stampin

I inked it up in Wild Wasabi, and mounted it on a Sahara Sand card that was stamped with the Hardwood BG in Craft White.  I resisted all my instincts to glitter this thing up to the hilt; instead, I simply diecut a brushed gold snowflake and added single Baked Brown Sugar sequin, and mounted it atop some burlap ribbon:

I added a simple Artistic Outpost sentiment, and my peaceful CAS card was done!

I am so thrilled with what the design team came up with using this photo inspiration! They are all just beautiful, so be sure to check them out at the Merry Monday blog…and please play along!

A little more patriotic sweetness:

Paper Players 203

DSCF3994

Happy Sunday, peeps!  It’s time for another Paper Players challenge, and this time Nance is our fabulous hostess with a sweet summer theme:

Oh, how I love going to the beach…such fond childhood memories always come from our times at the Delaware shore!  But strangely, I don’t have a lot of SU beachy stamps, but I did find a set of seashells from a few years back, so I did some masking to come up with this:

Now, you may say to yourself “Hmmmm….that’s an interesting way to make the front of a card”….but there is a wee story to it.  I had cut a piece of white cardstock to make a card, and left the other half on my swing-arm cutter.  Well, I had a little visitor in my craft room who just could not resist the temptation to pull that cutter arm down, with the cardstock still in it, sort of awry, and that’s how that angled cut came to be!  At first, I was just going to toss it in my bin of white scraps, but I thought it might be salvageable, so I went with it!  I mounted it on a piece of Lost Lagoon, and stamped the images in the Pals Paper Arts colors for this week:
PPA210 Basic Gray Lost Lagoon Pool Party

Actually, I cheated a bit and used Smoky Slate, as my Basic Gray looks almost black!  I added some cool word stamps from Impression Obsession and a little piece of Lost Lagoon ribbon.   I also added some speckles and the line image from Gorgeous Grunge for a nice beachy “spray”, along with some DD glitter!  Here’s the inside, just waiting for a final sentiment---might be birthday, thinking of you, who knows?!

Hope you have fun with our beachy-themed challenge this week and create something to share with us.  Be sure to check out all the creations at the Paper Players, and remember, we have our new guest designers’ creations for you to enjoy too!  So stop by and give them some love!

My nephew had his annual July 4th picnic on Friday, and despite what seemed like hurricane-force winds from Arthur, we managed to have a good time.  Miss Cassidy stole the show with her fancy “star” hairdo, courtesy of her mommy,  and a cute firecracker outfit:
